I don't own Batman: The Long Halloween
Chapter One: Crime.
"I believe in Gotham city." The man in the dark with the stern look.
"I only came here tonight out of respect for my parents who…knew… your family." He paused at the familiar way Carmine Falcone does his business.
"Your father was more than just a friend to my father, Bruce."
Bruce Wayne retorted, "That was a long time ago." As he closed the shuttered window.
'Everything around me is A LIE.' That is what Mr. Wayne thought to himself secretly.
He voiced his beliefs to the most dangerous and ruthless man in all of Gotham's times. Carmine "The Roman" Falcone. Gotham City's untouchable crime lord is throwing a society wedding for his nephew Johnny Viti. It seemed only yesterday when the Roman tried to get a hired knife slide between his nephew's ribs. Johnny was going to tell the Grand jury everything he knew about the Roman.
Extortion.
Corruption.
Murder.
All of it.
But Johnny never testified. He's getting married instead, with The Roman paying for it.
All of it.
"And now, you have so many new friends, Mr. Falcone. So many wealthy, influential friends. Isn't that Richard Daniel out there?" Bruce pointed it out to Falcone.
This tirade was a fabricated invitation to his nephew, Johnny Viti's wedding, and Falcone had paid everything for this day. To gather rich or connections to the law to make them part of his "family."
He watches as many visitors as possible, whether family, friends, or enemies. It shows that he controls what happens to Gotham.
"I'm very lucky, man." Carmine proudly announced. "Richard tells me the Gotham city bank is open to the idea of doing business with Falcone imports. I'm counting on you, Bruce, to be as accommodating."
"Don't." Bruce stopped Falcone right there. "I won't vote for or influence the board on your behalf. Regardless of whatever position you've gotten Richard to take."
That's… Disappointing." Carmine sounded it off. Like he had hopes for Bruce to join him or was upset that there would be no money offered to him. "Enjoy the Rest of the party, Bruce. Try the Cannoli. I had them flown in from Italy. Fresh."
Bruce is already walking towards the door. And said, "Life is made up of little disappointments, Mr. Falcone. It's what makes what we do so…Challenging."
He was gone just like that.
Milos, Falcone's personal friend, and bodyguard. "Perhaps I could "encourage" Wayne like the others." He suggested to Don.
But Falcone denied that offer. "I don't think that'll be necessary, Milos. Richard assures me we have enough votes. Although…"
Outside of the door…
Bruce Wayne is eavesdropping on their talks. "Bruce Wayne certainly would have cinched it for us."
A new voice called to Bruce Wayne. "Need any help?"
A young man was wearing purple glasses and a long chin with slick black hair. Alberto Falcone. He graduated from Harvard M.B.A. and was Oxford Rhodes Scholar, and he was 'The Good son' of the Falcone family.
Bruce was about to start an excuse himself until a voice saved him.
"Cousin Bruce." A young girl called out to Bruce Wayne. A beautiful eighteen-year-old with highest honors in Scientology and computer science degrees. She has green eyes and curly, wavy rose, blonde hair pulled up and is dressed like a Muse of the Greek gods. Isabella Wayne knew
"Shame on you for disappearing from my sight when you promised me a dance with our beautiful friend." She coyly said to Bruce.
Bruce nodded and went along with her lie. "I'm sorry, Isabella. Won't happen again." He looked back at Alberto and said, "Sorry about trying to make you cover for me. It is a very special night. Particularly, the cannoli."
For some reason, The good son of Falcone stares at them like his mind is far away from them.
They left outside, and Isabella whispered, "Be careful, Bruce. The Falcones are not to be trifle with."
"Don't worry about me," Bruce assures her. His cousin means well.
'Time to go to work. It's late.' Bruce thought as he was about to put on his hat.
"It's Hot, even in June. Years from now, when people talk about the weather, they'll say: "It's hot. But, not as hot as the night Johnny Viti got married." A beautiful, curly-haired woman is wearing a black dress above the knee, and silver jewels cover her arms, fingers, and neck.
"Hello, Selina."
"Care to dance, Bruce?"
Bruce looked at his cousin as she happily said, "C'mon, Brucie. It's Selina."
Isabella watches as Bruce dances the evening away. Thou, it seems that Carla Viti, sister to Carmine Falcone, is looking at Bruce and Selina dancing on the floor.
However, she is worried about them for now.
Brice walked over with Selina as he placed a coat over her fur mink coat over Isabella. They walked quietly as Selina made the girl talk.
"So, I hear you decided to intern yourself as Mr. Wayne's secretary and his schedule." Selina purred silently.
Isabella answered, "Yes, I wanted to gain experience if there is a career or excitement out there. So why not help Bruce with his emergency and cancel them."
"Hey, who is that?" Selina noticed there was a person there.
Isabella gasped and said, "That's Harvey Dent!"
'Thou, why would Dent be here? She recalled that he doesn't take bribery or deals from the likes of the Falcone.' Isabella reached into a small notepad, and she could tell he wanted to end the Falcones by checking everyone at the party.
Isabella can admire a person who wishes to change Gotham for the greater good, but can this man risk everything?
She pulled out a picture of his wedding day.
'Even his wife?'
Harvey Dent groaned and got up slowly.
"You alright…?" Bruce questioned Dent. "Miss Kye, Isabella, and I were just leaving when, luckily, we heard you—"
"I hope that I didn't spoil your evening." Harvey Dent retorted Bruce.
"A little thank you would suffice, Mr. Dent." Isabella sass at him.
"Isabella," Bruce warned his cousin.
"No, really. You, society types, go ahead and do whatever it is…you do when you're doing it. The rest of us will care of what needs to be done." Harvey didn't like or trust high society people, especially Bruce Wayne.
"And…what needs to be done?"
Harvey answered Bruce's question. "You wouldn't understand, Wayne."
'oh, you be surprised, Mr. dent.' Isabella thoughtfully as she watches the men.
"Good night, Miss Kyle. And, um, "Thanks for making sure I didn't need help."
Harvey Dent walked away from the three people.
Isabella looked and sighed at the district attorney. Guess people in Gotham see what they only see. The rich and powerful people lacked nothing in luxury, and the people had to scrap for a meal.
Isabella wishes to make Harvey Dent understand that not everyone wants to be in Roman's pocket.
"Isabella, let's go home for tonight."
He opened the car door for her as she got inside.
He makes a quick excuse as he wishes to hit the hay. He began to drive as Isabella questioned him.
"Bruce, is the time for the bat to come out and play?"
Bruce nodded, "Yes." His charming voice disappeared as out came Batman.
"I hope you bring in the stuff." She opened the case and pulled up her headphones with a microphone.
She watches him disappear in the night as he flies across the buildings and into Falcone's home.
BEEP!
She pulled out her computer as she put on her glasses and her screen revealed an Icon with a serpent shape as an S called LOKI.
"Batman."
"Batman here."
"Looks like our little cat burglar is with the Falcones again."
"Don't worry. This isn't the first time we had this encounter."
"Just be careful, Batman."
Isabella or LOKI has sent his coordinates of the Falcone's home and the Cat Burglars' location.
Batman was fighting as usual. However, as Falcone's men headed toward their location, she saw the cameras moving.
"Batman! Incoming men with guns. The wrong types." She warned Batman quickly.
She heard guns shooting in the air and broken glasses. Batman had enough as he threw a smoke bomb at the Falcone men.
BOOM! SIZZLES.
Isabella decided to allow them to drive where Bruce would be able to escape.
Another long night.
The next morning, Isabella had displayed a meeting for Bruce VS Richards, who is now in Roman's pocket. They argued over sending the Wayne foundation to Falcone, but he refused.
So, Isabella had sent where the money was after Batman had drilled the integration through every crook he came across.
The good guys are winning, but this Halloween was different.
Someone had killed Johnny Viti and left the jack-o-lantern in his bathroom.
That was the start of the Holiday Killer.
This is the start of Long Halloween.
Reviews are welcome. Happy Halloween, folks!
Next chapter, Thanksgiving and Isabella become more involved than she realized.
