One of my favorite things to do with fanfiction–in a nutshell–is to put a darker twist on the franchise to which the fanfiction belongs, such as psychological torture in The Light Dragon and Rey's inability to accept her true identity in The Descendant of Evil. The Torch of Zorro is going to be no exception. While I never write steamy or violent fanfiction, I will tell that the scene where Diego kills the bystander is going to be pretty intense. His reaction will be based on what I've observed in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit where murder is one of the main themes.

Now, considering this is Disney, it's still going to be family-friendly. I'm just warning you guys ahead of time of the inciting incident, in case you need to skip that chapter. I've hand-written a draft of it, and I can already tell that it may very well trigger some sensitive people. Nevertheless, the murder scene is going to be the only intense part of the story, so you'll be able to breathe easily after it.

As a whole, this book falls under the literary category of "drama", which is defined as "literature that is more intense and touches on heavier topics, rather than humor" (Dictionary). But, drama is rarely filled with violence. It's more about peoples' struggles to survive in the unstable world, which is what I hope to do with Diego in this piece.

I hope I didn't scare you guys away from the story. I promise it's going to be a very new and unique approach to the legend of Zorro. I hope that, like me, you're excited to jump into its meat and potatoes, which will start in the next chapter! I can't wait to see y'all there!
