Happy Halloween everybody! I hope you enjoy this day of Horrors, I surely aim too, even if I got down with a small cold.

Halloween always had a special place in my heart and this Halloween I decided to give all of you a little present. People were all very curious about my Shido backstory so… here it is! This train wreck of a one shot.

Let me get some things out of the way before showing it off though and please actually read this:

-This story is NON CANON to Round Two. As it is right now I MIGHT entertain using some elements from this one shot for my version of Shido, like say a military background, but other than that the below meeting as far as I am concerned NEVER HAPPENED in Round Two proper. I talked with a couple friends of mine about it and we all agreed that it would break the tone of the story, which is why I wont use it for Round Two. However as a sort of "What If" I say its acceptable.

-I am not a fan of cheap shocks. I don't like things being shocking JUST BECAUSE. I want shocks that actually further the story. This One Shot, while showing more of Shido, absolutely did NOTHING of the sort. It did not add anything of value for the story itself aside from giving Akechi even more trauma and probably breaking every bit of atmosphere I created in Round Two. Its probably for the best that I cut it from the original story.

-This is basically my attempt at a full blown horror story. Psychological horror at that. The kind where the villain has all the power so the other characters need to act. Anyone here watching The Boys? Shido is basically Homelander in this. Its actually lowkey inspired by a certain scene with him and the Deep in Season 3, sorry if this is a spoiler.

-I know Persona 5 is dark but… well I wanted to see just how dark I can make Shido honestly. How utterly deranged I could make him and still make it seem believable. I wanted to actually give some context to Shido, create a semi believable back story, dive into how his mind works a little and so on…

I wanted to just kinda make a silly Harem fic at the beginning. Now I wrote this. Damn.

Id also like to thank among others Blackplant and NoRoleModels for giving me the courage to actually post this lol.

Alright with that said, non canon established and so on… enjoy!

Stopped you in your tracks did I? Good. I wont let you read this without reading the Trigger Warnings. Now… this is my last warning. Don't read this if you cant stomach any of the following. If you want to ignore trigger warnings skip this section but im rather safe than sorry.

Forced Cannibalism

In front of him, comfortably sitting in his chair, Masayoshi laid eyes on the City of Tokyo. His city in all but name, the wide glass of his office seeming more like it was framing a treasure he caught and displayed.

Shido always knew that he was destined for greatness. He always felt as if there was some deity watching over him, sparing him from the worst things that could have befallen him and lending a helpful hand from behind the scenes. Right now he was finding himself thinking of one of these aids. An exceptional gift, delivered to his doorstep and currently on her way to his office.

Ah yes Goro Akechi. The famous Detective Princess, the second coming and successor of Naoto Shirogane.

His darling daughter.

It was hilarious. How must she feel right now? Did she believe herself to be a mastermind, shoving HIM of all people around like a figure on a cheesboard? It was… amusing.

That laughable idea aside, Shido was willing to admit that the girl was talented. He could see some of his own best traits inside the Fukumoto girl. Boundless charisma to sway even the most decisive to consider her cause, the necessary ruthlessness to achieve her goals and intelligence to outwit any beneath her.

All in an attractive young package.

From the outside she was just like her mother but on the inside… that was all him. Only himself he saw in her. Truly Masayoshi's guardian god had blessed him once again when the girl offered her services. And to think this all happened because Shido had decided to amuse himself properly with one of his favourite strippers.

Ah yes he remembered her mother. A teasing tramp spending her days pleasing man. Emiyo Fukumoto. She really was beautiful. He had to have her, the security not doing a single thing to interfere after a couple glares and a few words, speaking of just how out of their league they were.

A shame that she was fired. Even more so that she came crawling to her 'favourite' client to beg him for help.

As delightful as that afterglow was, he had shoved her aside, having no patience for such weak-willed scum. He had left her to rot though making it crystal clear that not one word was to escape her mouth. Otherwise… well women go missing all the time.

Just that threat was enough for her to bend the knee. Instead she would come to, metaphorically, present him a present for the kindness of not ending her.

It was just unfortunate said gift believed she could stand up against him.

Had he ever decided to groom a successor, perhaps she would have been perfect for it. Too bad he never intended to share the glory of ruling, or to ever leave the Throne of the World.

Masayoshi was no fool. He was aware that many men over the course of history tried to achieve what he was aiming for.

Napoleon Bonaparte, Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, every person with a name worth remembering in the World Wars, all conquerors in one way or another. But ultimately they all fell sooner or later.

However they did not have the resources Shido himself had.

The Metaverse was a tool of unfathomable potential. The Sword with which he will behead the Kings of this age and seize the World as his. He would not fail like all those before him. Not when every industry and sphere of influence in this Country bend to him, with Soldiers in all realms of existence obeying his command.

Shido truly was proud of what he had created. In reach and force. That he could create someone so 'driven' as a footnote especially, with a stray seed without any intention. It just spoke of his own greatness.

And she would fulfill her purpose dutifully, thinking she'd have the upper hand and plot his demise. And right when the elections were over and she would try to expose him before sentencing him to death, he would be ready to seal her fate.

Emiyo was beautiful. And her daughter was no different. Besides a wife would probably be good publicity once he has all the power. Who wouldn't want their ruler to be a family man? That way, she'd get all the love she may need to.

It wouldn't matter if nobody ever saw his housewife or what things she would have to suffer to break and take that fate.

What… amusing thoughts to have, watching over the city that he held in the palm of his hand. It had been a good decision to take the office with large windows. He deserved to treat himself now and then.

A knock on the door caught his attention. "Who is it?"

"It's Akechi."

He chuckled. Speak of his gift. "Enter."

The door opened, ever dutiful in obeying his commands, and there was 'Akechi'. Her brown hair looked freshly combed and cleaned. Some make up was on her face, some attempt to make herself appear more mature no doubt.

"You wanted to speak with me Sir?"

Shido offered her as friendly of a grin as he could muster. "Why yes sit down."

And sit down she did, crossing her legs and placing her hands on her knees. 'Akechi', like this, appeared as the very embodiment of what someone would desire in a woman. Gorgeous, polite, graceful… and behind that grace was a poisonous viper ready to strike. Strike at his command for this scheme of hers would require Shido's 'approval' after all. So… she would be whatever he needed her to be.

She was already willing to break someone's mind for him. Willing to cause chaos in the masses. All for her little 'revenge plot'.

He wondered how far she was willing to go. How much was she willing to endure? How uncomfortable in her own skin could he make her? Oh sure now she said she sees killing as a waste but how about later on?

It was a fun game to pass the time. Shido was a busy man and busy man deserve entertainment.

Alas it was time to go for just why he brought her here… and for the show to begin. "Akechi it's been how long since you entered my 'employment' now?"

"I believe a month."

"Correct. And how many missions did you fulfill for me in that time already?"

There was the faintest hint of masked pride, "7 Mister Shido."

"A Lucky Number. Like our meeting was to me." There was a brief twitch that almost looked like genuine happiness at praise. Oh so desperate for approval. "I am just glad to be of service to the future of Japan."

"Oh you have been no doubt. Which is why-" he opens a drawer in his desk, "I see it fit to reward you."

Her head cocked to the side in small curiosity "Reward?"

"Of course, though very much unlike monetary possessions. Some things, like experiences… simply can't be bought." At her question he pulled out of the drawer two silver plates, each covered with a lid before removing it, revealing two steamy steaks, coupled with some potatoes and vegetables. The smell of the sauce alone could make someone droll.

"Why don't you share a meal with me?"

There was a small glimmer in her shining eyes. Come now Akechi… isn't this what you wanted? A nice meal between parent and child? Isn't this what you always dreamed of? The only thing missing would be your whore of a mother for a nice family dinner. Or was she currently considering the odds of poison inside the steak?

He preferred putting it in the sauce. Harder to eat around.

"That, certainly looks delicious." She eventually said, taking some of the silver wear for herself. "I'd be a fool to say no."

"Great. After all one should enjoy the spoils of life. Otherwise we wouldn't be living at all." Shido nodded, retrieving from the drawer a bottle of wine alongside two glasses, pouring himself and Akechi from the same bottle. Another motion to suggest trust. Akechi however only looked a bit amused/skeptical. "Am I not a little young to drink?"

"Oh please, where is the harm in one glass?" Shido reasoned, holding up his glass. She mirrored him quickly enough, not to offend him.

"To a great meal and partnership."

"Agreed." She nodded and a small cling echoed through the room.

This brings back memories. No one ever considers the glass itself to be spiked beforehand.

Though this one, currently put to his daughters lips, wasn't. There would be no fun in it. Why have a woman like this if you could keep her powerless through sheer force alone? Besides… he could probably make her prostrate for him whenever he wished and that alone was its own satisfaction. He'd celebrate his election victory with her eventually.

Putting down the glasses, he watched her wine red eyes follow his every movement. Cutting away at his steak, she did so as well, biting into the fresh meat.

Shido smirked. Now that it was truly in play… why not have some conversation?

"Have I ever told you about my family Akechi?"

She coughed a little, but still managing to swallow her bite. "Your family?"

"Yes. After all, we all start from someone's seed and womb don't we? Even the Son of God." Cute. She thought for a moment of herself.

"I suppose so. But… no you haven't."

He shrugged in almost indifference. "Well there is not much to say. Rather unremarkable. My father was a businessman and my mother a housewife. I was an only child who grew up in Sumaru City. My parents died a few months after my graduation."

"Oh. I… am sorry to hear that Sir."

"No you're not. But you fake empathy wonderfully child."

"Don't be. My parents were weak willed pawns. Both of them lacked any spine or ambition. I was never particularly close to either of them."

His father especially was someone who offended him. He had so many resources but was seemingly content to live in his own small status quo. Still… when he died it was a surprise.

Surprise. That was all he felt.

Shido wondered for a while, back in these young naïve days, if there maybe was something he was supposed to feel.

But the Lion does not fell guilt when he devours the Gazelle. Nor does God when he sees the unworthy die for a great Kingdom that will last for all time.

"But there was ONE member of my family I was close to. My grandfather Katsuo Shido, who ended up taking me in after their death. I didn't really had the need to. I inherited much from their death, but the company he gave was nice I suppose."

Shido gave a small chuckle. Katsuo was the other end of the spectrum. A man with drive and visions but no means whatsoever to achieve them. "In what he called the 'Good old days' Katsuo was a rising star in the Imperial Japanese Army. In record time he climbed himself up from a low foot soldier to a Major, a Colonel and eventually General. Do you know why? He had ambition. He had a drive and the will to see his vision through."

Shido chuckled with amusement remembering the old fool. "He always beamed with pride when he told me about his glory days. Always one step ahead of his enemies. A competent and fear inspiring leader to his allies and enemies alike. An Allied soldier preferred shooting himself than facing him upon realizing they walked into a trap."

The whole time he spoke it was with such an ease, but also truth. No lies or charades. And Akechi was aware, as she looked at him with curiosity, a new bite still resting on her fork. "Your grandfather fought in World War Two?"

"He did. And he would have fought till his last breath if it wouldn't be for losing his leg. Or the Bomb the Americans threw."

Shido let out a small sigh. "All these plans, blown to hell by one push of a button."

Akech possessed a very neutral expression at these words. "...Much was lost."

"Truly, we couldn't comprehend how much." He always preferred the old flag. The Suns rays stretching out to reach and claim all under its light. "But the lesson we can learn from this is that the right weapon can make a world of a difference. Back then it was the Nuclear Bomb. Today," he held up his fork, "it is you."

"Me?" she said flattered, and it almost sounded genuine.

"Why yes of course. You and the Metaverse are capable of a bigger impact than every Warhead in the World." He bit down on his meat as he watched Akechi react. Was she flattered or insulted? A good mixture of both he'd reckon. She at least presented only her flattered, love and attention starved side, "Why thank you Sir Shido."

Shido shrugged, "You deserve it. Weapons of Mass Destruction aside, Katsuo is part of the reason I went to the army myself."

"You were part of the military?"

"Naval forces. Three years. Could have gotten far hadn't I decided to change my outlook. Which he played a part in, in hindsight."

"What happened to Katsuo Shido?"

"He died peacefully in his sleep, after a lifetime of fighting and surviving and evading the fools who wanted to throw him away for necessities in the field of battle." Shido lied.

His grandfather didn't go peaceful. Frankly it was disgusting to watch him lose his sanity and memory to dementia. He had put him out of his misery with a quick acting poison.

And maybe some of these necessities would nowadays be more described as 'sadistic enjoyment of war crimes'.

"But even on his death bed, I felt in him a kindred spirit. Because we shared a belief. The World and Humanity need… no… DESERVE a powerful leader to guide them as their Messiah. He thought this leader would be the Emperor he so loyally went to war for. He had many admirable qualities. That was not one of them. He thought to have found a leader. I KNOW that I AM that leader."

Shido took his glass, letting the liquid shimmer like a bloody ocean, a storm created by his hand. "Back than Japan was reaching a position of power that would have made us the leaders of the World. But because of incompetent idiots marching to Russia and one explosion, it all faded away in an instant. I always knew my destiny would be to bring back our former glory."

"And you wanted to achieve that through the military?"

"It felt like a rite of passage. Get affiliated with places of order and command. Though I will admit… every time someone so much as tried to order me around…" his fork bended a little, "It was unbearable.

"A King does not bow to a Pawn." Akechi reasoned.

"Neither does a Queen to a Fool." Shido shrugged.

Though he fondly remembered some woman who thought herself Queen. His direct superior at the time, at least she thought so.

It was easy to get rid of a body at sea used for all it was worth.

A woman didn't belong in the army.

Though he supposed, there were exceptions.

Akechi drank some more of her portion of wine, accompanying it with the Steak. "What kind of meat is this? I never had anything like it."

"A favourite of mine that's all. It pairs well with the Wine."

"True." Akechi noted, looking at him without any emotion. "So… what was your plan later? Without the Metaverse?"

"After familiarizing myself with the military I wanted to go onto politics. Eventually rub shoulders with enough people to become Prime Minister. Something that probably wouldn't have happened as quickly as it would be now. I wasn't expecting to reach this stage for another decade truth be told. Once in power, pass laws aiding my goal. Keep political dissidents to a low, reinvigorate that patriotic vigour, boost the economy. Promises of a better future and creating news that argue against neutral established media to create a following unwilling to ask questions. Though of course there would be fear needed. A dead body there, an accident here, a blown up building there. Frame the right people, political opposition, other countries, while ensuring the population rises and there are incentives to 'save the country'. That way you have many proud patriots following you into a bright future, even if it means they drown in the blood of your enemies." He casually added.

Akechi did not so much as twitch. Good girl. She was born to be a stage star. Oh he so wished he could just dive into her mind himself and read what was in there. "You wanted to start a war?"

"Power is the only language the world understands. Bending the knee or die standing a fool. Though of course that would be so much more effort. I had the luck to find the new weapon of this age after all."

"The Metaverse."

"Exactly."

"How did you find out about this?"

"I told you about Wakaba before didn't I? Well it was before her, though her research certainly reignited my interest. Back in Sumaru, I would come across… interesting notes. Does the New World Order ring any bells for you?"

"Not… really?" she questioned, like a toddler trying her hardest to understand advanced physics.

Shido merely chuckled, "Well it seems as if they barely existed at all nowadays. As if… the world just forgot. The few that even were aware. Well… I encountered some of their notes. Interesting notes…"

The future of Japan merely shrugged "But perhaps that is a story for another time."

"Oh by all means feel free to tell."

"You are not bored by my ramblings?"

"Why should I be? It is certainly… informative." She feigned interest, cutting her meat once more. He smirked on the inside. What better moment than now?

"Well… I'd like to tell you more of me and Katsuo. We had a… tradition of sorts. One that many would abhor in this day and age but one very dear to him, born from the field of battle. It started as necessity upon food shortage but soon became a way to literally 'taste' victory and build comradery among the troops. A feeling of brotherhood he described it."

Akechi's face froze for a moment, fork still lifted in the air, confusion in her face… and a growing sense of dread he assumed.

"What… was that for a tradition?"

His eyes made sure to capture every way her expression shifted.

"Use the weak and inferior for what they are worth. Make them serve as fuel for their betters. In a way perhaps our gift to them… gift of purpose. He did it with myself once, shared with me a meal the same way I do with you. Some homeless idiot served us well… with what little he could give."

The temperature in the room reached an all time low, you could have heard the very sweat rolling down his daughters back. Silence, ever consuming, before small realization dawned on her. Her eyes widened, some saliva for sure gathering in her mouth, a sign that she'd vomit every bite she ate in his presence right this moment onto his table if she wouldn't force every fibre of her being not to.

"What… are we eating?"

"In memory of my grandfather… just some homeless idiot with no name or ambition."

The mask faded away, he could tell the cracks erupt into whole continental earthquakes. Sheer unadulterated horror was painted all over his daughters face. He saw it build from the moment this small tale started, till it finally reaches its apex.

"What do you say Akechi?"

And she knew that the rest of her life, all that she had ever worked for, depended on how she would be able to handle that raw terror. That he'd discard her at a moments notice if she showed resistance. That right now, if she couldn't bring her mask back, she would end up on one of these plates. And if she wanted to stay in his good graces…

"I say…" she tightened her grip on fork and knife before cutting of another piece of meat and eating it in one bite, smirking at him all the while. "It's good to hear that the weak grovel are good for SOMETHING. At least he did ONE worthwhile thing with his life."

There it was, the face of a predator, who didn't hesitate to use whatever was necessary, use every tool at her disposal, to achieve her goal.

So this was what being a proud parent was like.

"I believe this to be the beginning of a very long and fruitful partnership Akechi."

And Shido meant every word he said towards his daughter.

Her mask didn't falter once again, for even the briefest of seconds. Even as he literally made her eat another man.

It was impossible to not feel proud of such a feat.

Not just her, himself as well. There was no way he could ever top this meal. Wouldn't offer it either. Some things should be one time, lest the magic of the moment is ruined.

Whatever long the time was she spend on that chair with that sick, deranged, cancer on the human race was too much. She would have preferred an eternity in hell, which she would suffer one way or another. If that wasn't clear before it was today.

Akechi had been composed the whole ride back home, never let her mask show, even smiled to a couple of her 'classmates'… whatever their names were…

And as soon as she entered her apartment, closing the door behind her, she let herself fall on the edge of the toilet, heaving and throwing up every bit of the rotten meat she had devoured. The brunette desperately shoved her finger down her throat, trying to get every little slice out of her stomach with a desperation one would expect from someone trying to save themselves from drowning. If she could, she would have torn open her stomach just to get it all out with her bare hands.

Her clothes were already drenched with her sweat, tears and spit falling into the bowel. Loki sounded so far away now, even as he tried to comfort her. Within seconds she went from hyperventilating, to sobbing, to tearing at her hair, only to repeat the cycle soon after.

"I'm sorry… I'm sorry." She apologized to whatever poor soul was now left in the drain. Shido would have killed her if she hadn't acted like she did. But that Mask might as well by an Iron Maiden.

Somehow, sometime, she managed to get some actual peace, feeling dehydrated, tired and dare she say hungry, though she knew if she even so much as thought of meat for the next week she'd be here all over again.

"He… needs… to die…" she spoke into the last remnants of yet another poor soul he had ruined the life of.

Shido needed to die. He needed to suffer. The world needed to know what kind of Monster it created.

People should be rioting in the streets. That's the only way to make people like him understand. They should be charging in his office and hold him hostage, demand he renounce his position, or better yet just END HIM.

But of course they wouldn't. Because the world consisted of the coward and the corrupt. No one cared if their country goes to shit. If they would they'd take whatever they could and drag them on the streets towards a guillotine. That was the only way corrupt, blights on existence could be dealt with.

And if they wouldn't do it, it would have to be her.

"I'll kill him mom… I'll kill him for you…" she repeated like a mantra.

"This… will be worth it."

It has to be.

I warned you.

So regarding that bit about cannibalism by the Japanese Military? I didn't make that shit up. It actually happened. Yeah.

So I know what your asking… what in the name of Philemon was I thinking?

Well when I was thinking about Shido and what could drive him, my mind kept going to… 'patriotic' and nationalistic moments. Not along the lines of I love my country but more like "I will make it mine whether it likes it or not". He just seemed to fit for it and given how the game portrayed him I don't think its that much of a stretch.

One I had that established a connection to the military made sense and so I looked up some stuff about it. Like certain War crimes… yeah…

Given Persona 5's themes of not blindly following adults, it seemed interesting for one of Shidos predecessors to have a hand in shaping him and a WW2 veteran just kinda wrote itself.

Though I will say Shido is NOT some 'poor boy who never had a choice'. He cares about no one but himself. His appreciation for his grandfather was more based around him being one of 'his' and once that faded due to dementia it turned into hate. This is also why he genuinely likes Akechi. But given this is Shido it's a very twisted appreciation. He loves the power he has over Akechi and how far he can push Crow.

You could also argue he is a Foil to my version of Akira, both having tendencies of no remorse but whereas Akira has strict lines he doesn't cross and a moral code, Shido just has no restraints.

The whole cannibalism happened when I came up with a concept for his Palace. The actual fuel tank. What would it look like? I imagine a sea of charred corpses, bursts of fire on the horizon, as the masses serve no other use than enable him… as fuel. He also may see it as a mercy of giving them some sort of 'divine purpose'.

There is probably more I could say but if anyone has any questions regarding my Shido feel free to comment or PM me personally! Ill get back to you eventually promise :)

Though while I justified it for myself I still thought it was over the top so this One Shot, thankfully for Akechi's sanity, will remain NON CANON. What do you say though? Did I create the worst version of Shido?

Either way, hope your not too traumatized, and have a Happy Halloween! :D
