It was a magnificent day in Station Square, as within the walls of Judah's House a familiar duo stood in a dressing room.
"I don't know Tails, I don't like how snug this is." Sonic tugged at the tie Tails had just helped him tie. "What if I catch it on something when I'm running?" Tails chuckled and shook his head.
"You do realize you won't be running anywhere today right Sonic? At least, not in that VERY expensive suit." Tails straightened Sonic's tie once more as they both paused and looked into the mirror before them.
"You know Tails, I appreciate everything you've done to help me." Tails glanced from the mirror to Sonic, a confused look on his face.
"You mean with the tie? I mean, yeah it was difficult having to tie it with you squirming everywhere and complaining but I-" Sonic raised his hand as he spoke.
"I mean everything, Tails. Ever since we met you have had my back and I've had yours." Sonic moved from the mirror and sat in the window overlooking the ocean port. "Now I'm settling down with Amy; don't get me wrong, I love her… It's just, everythings changing for me." Sonic pulled his tie loose and tossed it to the floor as he stood over it. "To top it off I don't like ties!" Tails stood silently observing Sonic's rant. As Sonic turned he noticed Tails stifling a laugh. Causing Sonic to chuckle "Hey! What's so funny?" Tails picked up Sonic's tie once more and tied it around his friend's neck as he answered.
"You are worried about change, or maybe worried about the future… Sonic, do you remember when I went steady with Cosmo? I was nervous, scared even. I was afraid of the same change you are. Amy has always ran with the group, so being in a relationship with her didn't change much, aside from you two spending more time together. But when Cosmo and I grew close, it was a new and different reality. For both myself and Cosmo. And you told me something that I have held close this whole time. You said, Live life. Hang on to the edge of tomorrow. And learn from the works of yesterday. And above all, hold on to what if." Sonic smiled as the memories began to flood back to him as Tails spoke. "You have to remember Sonic. You are running through life with a teammate. Just like when you and I stood side by side against Robotnik, you and Amy will stand side by side, running into your future." Sonic Stood for a moment in thought before pulling Tails into a warm embrace.
"You know Tails, you have a way with words. Mine and Amy's future excites me. But what about everyone else?" Tails smiled broadly as he answered.
"That's the best part! We all are here for both of you. We have your backs. Our team is family. Way closer than blood." Tails raised his hand for a high five as Sonic was quick to return one.
"You've got that right Tails." Sonic grabs his tophat and brushes the brim off "Come on, we have a wedding to…um… wed? Oh and one more thing. I'm pulling the 'it's my wedding' card." Sonic pulled his tie loose and tossed it over the back of a chair. "Thanks but no thanks!" Tails watched in mock horror as Sonic left the room with his tieless tux. "Yep, same ole Sonic!" Tails chuckled as he made his way out the door.

Hey readers and fans, I hope you've enjoyed today's short fic. This is my first time writing a ficlet, and I would love some editorial thoughts and comments. Generally I run my stories through several writing tools, and a very good ghost friend. This time however, I wanted to pump this out while the story was raw and fresh in my mind. I look forward to your reviews! And as always: Read on readers!
