Chapter 1: She Is His Only Need
Noah Puckerman was the last to walk into Quinn Fabray's hospital room. Quinn was in a coma after being in a severe car accident. Quinn was on her way to a party at her best friends, Santana and Brittany Lopez's house when she got hit by two cars at once.
As Noah looked at Quinn, Kurt Anderson and his father, Burt Hummel, stood beside him. Noah looks at Burt and then back at Quinn before asking Burt, "How did you do it, Mr. H? How did you come to the hospital every day and not scream at God for taking Kurt's mom?"
Noah then starts throwing things around the room and yelling, "You son of a bitch, I lost Finn! I'm not losing Quinn!" Then, Burt has the others leave as Noah falls to his knees.
As Burt helps Noah up, he says, "This is not God's fault, Puck."
Noah gets in Burt's face and yells, "Well, who the hell should I blame, Mr. H?"
Noah looks at Quinn as he then takes a ring box out of his pocket. Then says, "This is Elizabeth's engagement ring. I found it one day in Finn's stuff in a letter to you."
He chuckles and continues, "It was a breakup letter, and on the envelope, it said, "To my dumbass Neanderthal." It was three pages long, and I read it after I broke up with Quinn when Tracy was born. I kept the ring to give to Quinn because I thought Elizabeth sounded more like Quinn in that letter. So, how long did you date my mom, Mr. H?"
Burt looks at Quinn as he says, "I never dated Norah. She used me to get back at Nick for cheating on her. I told Elizabeth that several times back in high school before she had believed me. I didn't know Norah until after I met you. I doubt you remember every girl you were with in high school, Puck."
Then Burt hands Noah a picture from his wallet and says, "You better not tell Kurt any of this."
As Noah looks at the picture, he asks, "Did you know Elizabeth had the same picture in a diary? Or that she gave it a nickname in her diary, Burtzilla?"
Burt starts coughing and takes a sip of coffee before saying, "God, she told me she burned that picture. So, how long have you been waiting to call me that, Puckzilla? Puck, we are more alike than I thought."
Noah hands Burt the picture back and says, "First off, I thought that was dad's picture at first. Second, I am never becoming a congressman or working at Mick's. Third, you raised Kurt. I haven't seen Beth since she was two, Mr. H." Then he looks at Quinn and then back at Burt before storming out.
Noah returns with his guitar, never noticing that Santana is sitting by Burt or that Quinn's parents are there. All his focus was on Quinn as he began to play, I Cross My Heart by George Strait.
(Puck)
Our love is unconditional, we knew it from the start
I see it in your eyes, you can feel it from my heart
From here on after let's stay the way we are right now
And share all the love and laughter that a lifetime will allow
I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true
In all the world you'll never find
A love as true as mine
You will always be the miracle that makes my life complete
And as long as there's a breath in me, I'll make yours just as sweet
As we look into the future, it's as far as we can see
So, let's make each tomorrow be the best that it can be
I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true
In all the world you'll never find
A love as true as mine
And if along the way we find a day it starts to storm
You've got the promise of my love to keep you warm
In all the world you'll never find
A love as true as mine
A love as true as mine
Hearing Judy cry, he says, "I know I wasn't the best at relationships when I was a kid, but I love her, and I won't give up on her."
As he turns around, Judy hugs him and looks at Tracy Anderson, Kurt's daughter. Then Judy says, "I'm sorry, Puck. I know I never gave you the benefit of the doubt, and that that's why you broke up with Quinn. If I could change anything, I would have let Quinn keep Beth."
Then Judy looks at Burt and Kurt as she says, "Quinn is pregnant. She was on the phone with me when the wreck happened. I am really sorry, Puck. I hope that Quinn's baby is a girl."
She then shows Noah a picture on her phone and says, "Quinn sent me this picture a week before you broke up with her." Judy chuckles as she looks at Burt and says, "Mr. P."
Noah glares at Judy and yells, "I am not losing Quinn like Mr. H, lost Kurt's mom, Judy! Mr. H spent six years alone dealing with Kurt's bullies! He didn't have time to grieve! Kurt is the only reason Mr. and Mrs. H got together! Quinn broke up with me because she thought I was turning into Mr. H! It had nothing to do with you!" Then Burt takes Tracy from Kurt and soon has the others leave.
Noah sits down in a chair next to Quinn's hospital bed before Burt gives Tracy to Noah. Tracy has a Sleeping Beauty story book in her hand and hands it to Noah as she says, "Read, Nono."
Rachel and Santana soon walk into the room as Noah reads the book to Tracy. Then Santana says to Burt, "Kurt got kicked out of the hospital for yelling at Quinn's mom. Let's just say, Judy wants to get rid of another grandchild because she believes Quinn won't live long enough to carry the baby to term." Burt soon storms out as Rachel and Santana smirk at each other.
Fifteen minutes later, two security guards walked in and asked Noah to come with them as Judy and Russell stood behind them. Noah held a sleeping Tracy in his arms as he said calmly, "I'm not going anywhere, that is my girlfriend, and I'm not leaving her. I don't care what her parents want. I am not leaving until she wakes up."
Then Rachel says to Judy, "Did you know that Beth's adoptive mother, Shelby is my mother? Kurt's daughter Tracy is my daughter. Quinn was chosen to be the surrogate for Kurt, but since I was the daughter of gay parents. I thought I would donate my egg, so that Kurt could be a dad. Shelby missed out on raising me, and got to make up for it with Beth. Now, Puck is the one that missed out on seeing Beth grow up, and you want to take another baby from him?" Rachel then slaps Judy and storms out.
When Tracy woke up, she found herself in Quinn's hospital bed, lying on her chest, and saw Norah talking to Burt at the table in the room. Then she climbs out of Quinn's bed and finds Noah crying in the bathroom. She hugs him and says, "I gotta go potty." Noah chuckles and then helps Tracy go pee.
As Noah carries Tracy out of the bathroom, she says to Burt, "Tell Nana Beth's story, peas."
Then Norah whispers, "Which one?" as Burt elbows her, which makes Noah chuckle.
As Noah sits down with Tracy on his lap, Burt says, "Elizabeth had diabetes and slipped into a coma from insulin shock. She was like Quinn growing up, independent, sweet, and adorable. Like you, I had to beg Elizabeth to go out with me, but her family didn't like me either, and tried to take Kurt away from me, too. Kurt was almost sent to one of those camps that reprogram gay kids into being straight, but I wouldn't stand for it. Puck, I don't know how long Quinn will be in a coma, but I will help you make sure nothing happens to your baby."
Then Norah says, "So will I, Puck. I lost Beth, thanks to Judy. There is no way I'm losing this grandchild."
They soon hear Beth Corcoran yell, "I'm family! That is my birth mother in that bed! Rachel is my sister, and I'm here to help Daddy Puck see that you never see my sibling!"
Norah soon gets some papers out of her purse and whispers, "Patrick's lawyer helped me draw up papers to prevent Judy or Russell from having our grandchild aborted. You might not be Puck's dad, but Puck is your son, G' Pa Hulk."
Soon, Noah, Tracy, and Burt follow Norah as she walks out, yelling, "That is my grandchild, too, Judy! Puck might not be married to Quinn, but Quinn is carrying his child!" Then she hands Judy the papers and storms back into Quinn's hospital room, followed by Burt and Kurt.
Noah looks at Beth and Tracy, then says to Judy, "What was with that crap about me having another daughter? Why would you say that? If you knew you were going to do that? Huh? Sure, I wasn't happy about being a single father! Like Mr. H was, but there is no way in hell that you're taking my baby! If Quinn has to be a living incubator, then so be it! Beth hadn't been in my life for ten years! I won't miss a second of this baby's life! I will fight you the whole way! Now, leave!"
After that, Noah went with Kurt to the cemetery, and Kurt was surprised when Noah led the way to Elizabeth's grave. He stood behind Noah as he talked to the grave, saying, "Hey Elizabeth, I finally found out the true identity of that picture in your diary, and I'm sorry I haven't been here in a while. I've spent a lot of time acting like my dad. I don't know if you have heard about what's happening here. Let's just say, history is repeating itself. Quinn is in a coma, and her parents want to abort the baby. I'm glad Burt put your diary in that box now. I'm having trouble with Quinn's parents, who are acting like yours. Quinn's mom is acting just like yours was to Burt. Elizabeth, I know you helped my mom see my dad for the douche bag he is. Plus, I named my daughter after you, so help me. Do you want me to tell Kurt about another baby gate where I was the baby in question?"
Kurt chuckles and says, "I know about that already, Puck, and I also know about dad's picture. I found that picture he keeps in his wallet, and I'm guessing you followed me here once when you bullied me back in high school. So, when did you start talking to my mom?"
Noah looks at the grave as he says, "Since I started dating Quinn, I came here to yell at Finn first, but somehow ended up here. I found her diary a week before the fight with Quinn. Quinn found it, and thought it was a diary I stole from one of the chicks I was banging in high school. It wasn't until she saw your dad's picture that she knew you weren't the Hummel mentioned in Elizabeth's diary. I bought a cap to mess with her, and she made me burn it."
Kurt glared at Noah, then shutters as he said, "I'm walking back, because there is no way I am going back with you now. God, Puck, do you want me to gouge my eyes out? How am I going to be able to face dad after this? Why did Quinn have to be in another car crash? I don't know how mom ever got dad to change, but I'm glad she did now." Then he storms off as Noah chuckles.
Noah soon pulls up beside Kurt in his truck and stops. Before he says a word, Kurt gets in and replies, "All I ask is if you have a son like me or a daughter. You better use your paintball gun on their bullies. If you talk about this to Santana, I will tell her about the camera you hid in her bedroom."
Noah chuckles and explains, "I took it out five years ago. I promise I won't tell anyone about your dad being like me or the other stuff. Okay? Now, please, don't make me say it, Kurt."
When they returned to Quinn's hospital room, Tracy yelled, "We're not moving! Leave Queenie alone!" Before Quinn's parents storm out with the police.
As soon as they entered the room, they saw Blaine and his father, Patrick, there. Then Blaine says to Noah, "Our family's lawyer will help in any way he can. By the way, I made you Tracy's godfather, and you are somebody's first crush."
Noah looks at Tracy as he whispers, "I know, Blaine. Thanks, man. I can't thank you enough for all this." Before Blaine responds, Quinn's heart monitor beeps, and doctors rush in to save Quinn.
Chapter 2 will be up soon.
