Uncanny Biohazard: Last Escape chapter 01: Welcome to Raccoon City

Lyall the Werewolf: I have an interesting history with Resident Evil. I knew RE existed, but I never played the games because I was never really into survival horror games. That changed recently when I started playing Resident Evil games, and I actually enjoyed them both for their atmosphere and gameplay. Of course, I had trouble getting used to the tank controls of the classic games, and most of the puzzles were mind-numbing due to my lack of experience, but with some help from the internet I figured them out. I've beaten the remake versions of the first three games on the PS4 and the original RE3 on the PS3. I'm currently RE8 on the PS4. Code Veronica and RE4 are in a bit of a waiting period. I don't even know if I'll ever touch RE5 & RE6 given how infamous those games are, especially the latter. Overall, I really enjoy the series, so I'm looking forward to going on this journey and hopefully sticking with it. Not to mention RE4's remake, but I need to play and beat the original before then.

As for the X-Men, I grew up with the series. While I haven't read much of the comics, I love the X-Men cartoons and film franchises. Hugh Jackman, eat your heart! That being said, I won't be using any set characters from the X-Men mythos. I want to try creating my distinct version of the X-Men for this crossover. I'm mostly taking inspiration from the 1992 X-Men cartoon, the early films before the whole bonkers timeline point, and the Ultimate comics. On a side note, I'm looking forward to the Wolverine solo game currently being developed by Insomniac and Deadpool 3, where Hugh is set to return as our favorite anti-hero. HYPE!

As for the Resident Evil side of things, this is mostly taking place during the events of the original RE3. Some bits of the remake's plot might slip in. I must admit that the RE3 remake should be more disappointing for me, but that game was the first RE game I ever played, so I can't say I disliked it as much as other fans do. After learning of the game's trouble production and seeing the end result, I can see why hardcore fans of Resident Evil would find it a huge letdown. As for myself, I enjoyed it for what it was, and I am glad that the remake of Resident Evil 3 was the first Resident Evil game I played.

Before anyone asks, no! The Resident Evil live-action films and Netflix series will have no connection to this story. That should go without saying.

And just for fun, I'll designate this crossover universe Earth-CU30841. I checked, and there's no universe currently holding on to that designation. CU stands for Crossover Universe.

Now then, let's step into the horror-filled first chapter of Uncanny Biohazard.

(I don't own X-Men or Resident Evil)

On the night of September 27th, 1998, the man drove on his motorcycle through the open road. He was a man of average height, standing at six feet. He had an imposing demeanor and appearance.

He had short black, unkempt hair, muttonchops sideburns, and piercing ice-blue eyes. He wore a dark brown leather jacket, a white tank top, blues jeans, and brown shoes.

One would assume he was a simple biker. He was simply driving across the United States, wandering about and minding his own business. At least, most people would think that of a stranger wandering the country. Actually, he was looking for any clues about his past.

Since 1979, he was an amnesiac, as his life and memories before they were missing. The only memories he could recall were the pain and misery caused by those bastards in Weapon X and his name, Logan. He wasn't even sure that was his real name. When they captured him, Weapon X erased Logan's memories, brainwashed him, and experimented on him like a lab rat. They turned him into what he was today.

Even after his eventual escape from that torture, he was plagued by nightmares of those events on repeat. Logan has learned to deal with them.

Since his escape from the branch facility in Canada, Logan spent over two decades looking for clues about his past and perhaps more on Weapon X.

He knew Weapon X was a secret U.S. government project intended to create superhumans and use them for military pursuits. Anything else was a complete mystery. Thus, his search for anything related to the project in Canada turned up nothing. But he did learn that Weapon X had some business deals with a multinational conglomerate named Umbrella Corporation. Weapon X was mainly dealing with the company's subsidiary Umbrella Pharmaceuticals.

From what he gathered, Umbrella Pharmaceuticals was founded in 1968, and they have been producing medicines since its inception. Somewhere around the 1980s, Umbrella Pharmaceuticals would become Umbrella Corporation and started branching out into successful multi-business industries.

Logan thought traveling to North America and finding Umbrella would yield better results in tracing his past.

He was unsure of what drove him to pursue his lost memories. A part of him was sure his own history wasn't a nice one. He could smell blood on him. No matter how many times he bathed and showered, the smell of blood wouldn't come off his body.

Even then, his search was desperate. No matter what he found, even if it turned out to be a dead end, Logan wasn't one to give up. He was always a determined man. Logan would pursue his past to the ends of the Earth if he had to. And he would have vengeance on those who put him through hell.

And Logan hoped his latest lead in Raccoon City in Arklay County would give him something. Raccoon City was a town rumored to be deeply connected to Umbrella. Thanks to that, it was a thriving city.

For the past two decades, however, Logan has learned that not everything was what it seemed.

He once came across rumors about a string of bizarre murders in the Arklay Mountains near Raccoon City late in July. Hikers were reported missing and found mauled to death by wild animals, or so they say. There was also something about a cover-up possibly by Umbrella itself. And recently, the news was going wild about mass rioting throughout Raccoon City, and the police and government were having difficulty containing it.

To Logan, the riots in Arklay reeked of another cover-up. The man had a talent for sniffing out lies. Something bigger was going on there.

Despite the possible danger, Logan decided it was worth checking out.

After a long motorcycle ride through the desert road in the cold dead of night, Logan finally arrived at Raccoon City at about 09:45 pm.

However, as Logan slowed his motorcycle down in the city limits, he immediately noticed something amiss.

"This is Raccoon City? It's quiet here. Too quiet…" Logan muttered to himself. Except for empty cars and debris scattered around, there wasn't a soul in sight. Most of the street lights were off, making the darkness of night even more pronounced.

It was like a ghost town. There was a security checkout where he came through, but it was curiously empty, save for tons of blood splattered everywhere. It was one thing for soldiers to have to defend themselves against violent rioters, but for military personnel to leave an outpost abandoned and covered in blood? Something definitely wasn't right.

"And…" Logan sniffed the air around him and groaned, "It smells toxic."

This scent was familiar. It made Logan remember some of the other experiments conducted on him during his time at Weapon X. Some of those scientists held the same toxic scent as well. He couldn't remember everything, but Logan vividly remembered being injected with something.

It was painful, and it briefly made him hungry and more aggressive than he normally was. He also felt parts of his body and brain decay rapidly. He felt every bit of pain from the experiments and injections. And soon after, he recovered as if nothing had happened.

"Astounding. Our viruses don't appear to be affecting him at all."

"We did inform you of his mutant healing factor. It heals any injury, minor or otherwise, and makes him immune to disease. In fact, our studies of him have us theorizing that it may slow his aging rate. There's no way to determine how old he really is."

"And his potent healing factor allowed him to survive the bonding procedure?"

"Indeed, it did. And I'm sure his stubbornness played a part as well. Wiping his memory was the next logical to keep him under control."

"You've found quite the specimen. His healing factor would prove to our research as well. Do you have a sample of his DNA in storage?"

"I do, but I can't just let you have a sample."

"Then perhaps we can make a trade that would benefit us both."

"Grr… Fucking bastards… experimentation on Mutants…" Logan bitterly growled. He vaguely recalled most things surrounding the experiments, but that conversation made his blood boil. The fact those scientists thought they could get away with it because of his abilities made his opinion of regular humans sourer than before.

Logan was a mutant with a powerful healing factor, superhuman physiology, and animal-keen senses. As much as he hated it sometimes, Logan was thankful his healing factor kept him alive during those experiments. It allowed him to survive just about anything. He could smoke cigars without fear of cancer and drink a shit ton of beer while not worrying about his liver. If only he could enjoy the perks of his mutant abilities without getting heat from the public.

The term mutant referred to people who developed superhuman abilities on a genetic level. Since they were revealed in 1963, mutants faced heavy hatred, fear, and discrimination. Even decades later, politics were still debating about the growing mutant menace and how to deal with them.

He wasn't sure about the rest of the world, but it seemed that Canada and North America had the most racism levied toward mutants. Logan met his fair share of assholes who hate mutants as well. He either ignored them or put a little fear in them to shut them up.

And naturally, certain groups were seeking to exploit Mutants for their powers, like Weapon X trying to turn Logan into a living weapon, ranging from infusing his entire skeletal structure with a rare metal alloy to testing various manufactured viruses on him.

Those viruses carried that toxic scent that polluted Raccoon City's air. Somehow, Umbrella was involved with whatever was going on here. Logan could feel it.

And if Logan ever found the people responsible for those experiments, he would make sure they pay dearly.

Thus, his journey finally took him to the dead quiet Raccoon City in North America.

Logan assumed the rioting in Raccoon City might have something to do with Mutants. The media and shitty conspiracy theorists certainly think so. But none of that mattered. His goal was to find out about Umbrella's connection to Weapon X. Nothing was going to stop him from finding answers.

But, the eerie silence of the city made Logan more cautious than he was before. Something definitely wasn't right about Raccoon City. That toxic scent was everywhere, especially as he slowly drove deeper into the city.

Logan dismounted his motorcycle and began wandering the streets. He didn't stray too far from his bike in case he needed to make a fast getaway.

The biker was composed, even when the toxic smell and eerie atmosphere began to creep up on him. He had been in dangerous areas before but never before had he felt this much dread from simply taking a stroll down an empty street.

If there was anyone around, maybe they could give him an answer as to what the hell was happening here.

As he cautiously moved forward, a loud sound caught Logan's attention. That sound was a horrifying scream.

"AAAGHHH!"

Logan immediately sprinted into action. He followed the sound of the scream. It came from a nearby alley.

Save for trash littered about, the alley was empty.

Logan ventured deeper into the empty alley, and then he could hear a disturbing sound. It sounded like crunching, splattering, and growling mixed together. It was the kind of sound a predator would make as it devoured its prey.

Sweat began forming on his brow as he approached the sound's source. A new smell filled the air. It was the familiar scent of blood. That could only mean something was killed recently.

Eventually, he came upon a bewildering sight in the alley. It was dark in the alley, but Logan could definitely make out a human shape in the darkness. It was a man squatting down on the ground. Judging by his movements, he looked like he was eating something.

Logan slowly approached so as to not make any sudden moves that could scare the weirdo off until he was within a comfortable distance of the other man.

"Hey, bub! What're you chewing on? Something tasty?" Logan asked the man curiously.

The man stopped eating. He slowly turned around and revealed his face to his next prey.

Logan wasn't easy to scare, but even he was taken aback by the creature's appearance.

What may have been a normal man wasn't human anymore.

Its skin was as pale as ash and decomposing. Its eyes were pure white as it lacked pupils. The only emotion its eyes seemed to convey was hunger as it stared at its next prey.

Its mouth and hands were covered with what could only be blood and intestines. Whatever this… thing was, it wasn't human. Not anymore.

Even more unsettling was the body beside it.

Logan couldn't see it a minute ago, but that body was another human. And it was freshly cannibalized by the decomposing creature. It didn't take a genius to fathom that the victim was probably the person screaming before meeting their gruesome fate.

"What…?!" Logan gasped as he stumbled back. Every hair on his body stood on end.

The creature stood up while growling like a deranged animal and lunging toward Logan.

Still taken by surprise, Logan couldn't react in time before he was tackled to the ground. The creature was stronger than it looked. Its killing intent was clear as it tried to bite into Logan's flesh.

It did just that. It bit Logan, trying to sink its teeth into his neck.

Determined not to be this thing's next meal, Logan composed himself and fought back. With a strong kick, he shoved the cannibal monster back before it could take a chunk of flesh off.

The wound quickly closed, thanks to his healing factor.

He stood up, ready for a fight, only to be surprised again when arms shot out of the nearby windows.

Logan could see more creatures like the one in front of him attempting to break through the windows. Some of them were successful. Once outside, they immediately set their sights and the nearest living thing. They mindlessly shamble toward him, groaning and snarling with killing intent and hunger driving them forward.

"Okay… I think I know what you guys want for dinner." Logan said calmly.

In all his years, before and after he lost his memory, Logan had never seen anything like this. These things had to be zombies. He had only ever seen and heard of zombies in horror films, comics, and novels. He never thought the real things would appear in real life. Again, he was rarely scared by anything, but for a brief moment, he felt it. He felt something instinctively primal to any living being.

Fear…

He felt fear before. During the torturous experiments, he was in so much pain and terrified of losing his sanity and dying.

But it wasn't anything Logan couldn't handle. Even if he did feel fear, he was an expert at pushing it back and fighting against the opposition.

Fear was a driving component for many living creatures. So were rage and bloodlust, and Logan was an expert at channeling both.

SHNK!

Because with the three sharp and indestructible metal claws protruding from each hand, Logan was more than prepared to fight internal and external fear.

"Alright, ladies and germs… First come, first serve! Try taking a nip, and you'll gag on your own blood!" Logan declared with a devilish grin before letting a bestial roar and charging at the horde of zombies.

The claws were another addition to his mutant power set. Originally, the claws were made of bone-like material, but after his entire skeletal structure was infused with the rare metal, Adamantium, the bone claws were metal as well. They were stronger and sharper and could cut through anything, even a horde of ravenous zombies.

Slicing and ripping apart any zombie fool enough to get close for a nibble, Logan tore his way through the horde, leaving behind a bloody trail of decaying body parts and intestines.

This was what Weapon X wanted out of experimenting on Logan; a living weapon. And they made the mistake of giving him indestructible claws. Were it not for his incredibly high pain tolerance and mental fortitude, he would have gone insane from all that torture. Who knows? Maybe he was already insane, and he was just that good at hiding it, even from himself.

Following his bloody rampage, Logan wiped off the blood from his claws and retracted them back into the skin of his knuckles.

By the time he finished the last of the zombies off, Logan realized he was out of the alley and on an unfamiliar street. He had no idea where his motorcycle was either.

Unfortunately, there was no time to go find it, as there were more groaning zombies shambling toward him.

"There's more of these things? Is the whole damn city infested with zombies?"

Logan was getting ready to protrude his claws again, but a nearby explosion caught his attention. It came from an apartment building to his right.

Barreling out of the burning building was a lone woman. She wore a blue tube top, a black short skirt, and brown boots. She wore a white sweater around her waist. Her hair was brown and cut in a short cub with a long right side. Up close, she was quite the beauty.

As she was bearing her surroundings, she heard Logan's footsteps. Wherein upon she forcibly stood up and pointed a handgun at him. She was ready to fire at a moment's notice.

"Hey, whoa, don't shoot!" Logan pleaded while raising his hands. Bullet wounds wouldn't kill him, let alone hurt him thanks to his metal skeleton and healing factor. However, a friendly face was worth having in this situation.

"Y-You're human?" the woman asked in astonishment.

"As human as a regular guy can be..." Logan answered.

"Thank god..." the woman sighed in relief. She collapsed to her knees on the ground.

"Hey, you alright?" Logan asked as he jogged over to her to help her up.

"I-I'm fine… Just need to keep moving." the woman answered. She was winded from having escaped from the exploding building. It brought her some relief that there was someone still alive out here.

"Don't push it, darlin'. We're just getting started." Logan said as he helped her to her feet.

The zombies were still approaching. And there were a lot.

"Great…" the woman groaned, worried about their odds. She didn't have enough ammo to gun them all down. She could defend herself and make it out unscathed on her own, but escaping would be more challenging for her and this new person. What could she do?

However, Logan stepped in front of her.

"What're you doing?"

"Just stay behind me if you want to live." Logan ordered, "And whatever you do, don't point your gun at me!"

Logan extended his claws again and charged forward at the zombies.

"A mutant?" the woman exclaimed in brief shock. She regained her composure as she watched the man claw his way through the horde, leaving a bloody trail of zombie corpses along the way. This probably meant he was on her side for the time being. Well, she wasn't going to be picky about who could be useful in escaping zombie hordes, especially if she was running low on ammo.

She saw an open path free from zombies. They were distracted by the man with claws as he sliced them up.

The woman was still tempted to leave him behind and let him deal with the horde. The undead wasn't picky about their food either.

But it would go against her moral code to leave someone behind to die horribly, regardless if he was a mutant or not. She didn't know whether or not she could trust him, but Jill Valentine wasn't going to let this mutant die just yet.

Jill spotted a zombie sneaking up behind him.

"Hey!" Jill called out to Logan and the zombie. The latter turned around to see Jill, only to be shot in the head, dying instantly.

Logan was a little surprised to see the woman shoot a zombie instead of himself.

"This way!" Jill said, motioning to the open path as she ran toward it.

More zombies were coming, so Logan decided to not waste any more energy killing them and followed the woman.

They made a mad dash through another alley, cutting and gunning down any enemy in their way. Eventually came upon an empty warehouse. After breaking down the door and then barricading it, the duo took a moment to catch their breath.

"I think we're safe here for the time being." Jill sighed as she sat on a wooden crate.

"Yeah… but for how long?" Logan grumbled as he sat down on the stairs. During the struggle to get here, he lost his jacket. As he started to relax, Logan noticed the woman staring at him. "What? Something interesting about me?"

"Yeah. I noticed you were bitten by some of the zombies, but the bite marks are healing faster than normal wounds normally do." Jill said as she observed him while the bites on Logan's arms healed and disappeared. There weren't any scars to be found on his skin.

"I heal pretty fast. One of the perks of being a mutant." Logan replied, "Which reminds me; I thought for sure you'd use your gun on me when those undead freaks were dealt with. I'm surprised you haven't cursed my existence for being a Mutant yet."

"I could care less right now. I'm just glad there's someone to talk to that isn't a zombie." sighed Jill.

"Well, if you want some conversation, how about filling me in? What the fuck is going on out there?" Logan demanded. He didn't show it, but he was still somewhat rattled from seeing those zombies. The numbers were incredible. It was like the entire city was invested with the undead.

"Why should I bother? You're not going to believe me. Honestly, I don't know if I should trust you either. You might decide to cut me to pieces like you did those zombies." said Jill, eyeing Logan with suspicion, "Don't think I won't put a bullet between your eyes if you try!"

"Sweetheart, if I wanted to gut you, I would have done it by now," stated Logan. He wasn't surprised she would still distrust him, and he wouldn't have blamed her. He was a complete stranger and a dangerous mutant. Not a good combination for a dancer partner.

"Good point. But instead of using nicknames like sweetheart, how about using my name? Jill Valentine. I used to be with S.T.A.R.S." Jill stated.

"S.T.A.R.S.? As in the Special Tactics and Rescue Service division from the Raccoon Police Department."

"I see you've done your homework."

"I did some brushing up on Raccoon City before coming here." Logan smirked, "The name's Logan, by the way."

"Okay, Logan, before I decide whether or not to fill you in on what's happened to Raccoon City, tell me what you're doing here. I get the feeling you're not from around here."

Logan would have denied Jill's request, but he had the feeling she knew on some level what was going on. He did come to Raccoon City to find answers, and Jill just might get him what he wanted. He wasn't going to tell her everything, though.

"If you must know, I'm here to find information about the Umbrella Corporation and how they're connected to the bastards who did this to me." Logan extended the claws from his right fist as he spoke.

"So, those claws aren't natural?" an unfazed Jill asked.

"Nope. At least, not in the way that you think." Logan said while retracting the claws.

"And you mentioned Umbrella Corporation just now," Jill said. Her voice was on edge.

"Guess you're not an Umbrella fan."

"No, and I can tell you why; Umbrella is responsible for the mess out there."

"You mean Umbrella created those zombies?" Logan asked with a raised eyebrow.

"That's right. All thanks to the virus they created and carelessly leaked into the city, causing a viral outbreak. Now, Raccoon City is a damned cesspool of undead monsters!" An angered Jill cried.

"Looks like I picked a bad time to go sightseeing in Raccoon City." Logan joked, earning an annoyed glare from Jill.

"Fuck you..." Jill sneered.

"Anyway, if what you're saying is true, then Umbrella isn't the squeaky clean company they've made themselves out to be. But just to make sure, you're positive Umbrella is behind this zombie outbreak?" Logan asked.

Jill was somewhat surprised that this mutant was willing to listen. She figured he might a spy from Umbrella, but it doesn't appear to be the case if he wasn't aware of the zombie outbreak. And he helped her get away, so Jill thought it wouldn't hurt to give him the full rundown of how this happened. Honestly, she was somewhat happy to share what she knew with someone willing to listen.

"Yes, I'm positive. Because I saw what the company was capable of two months ago. My squad and I were investigating disappearances in the Arklay Mountains and discovered this mansion crawling with zombies and other mutated creatures. They all came from an underground lab beneath Spencer Mansion, and Umbrella was responsible for it all. Those zombies were born from the t-Virus they created. If you're bitten by one of those things, it's game over. Once you're infected, your body and mind begin to decay, and you eventually turn into a hyper-aggressive, ravenous zombie. As far as humans are concerned, anyway. Looks like your mutant healing factor nullifies the t-Virus' effects."

Logan couldn't help agreeing. The way she described the effects of t-Virus reminded him of the injections he suffered during his time with Weapon X. Those people with the viruses were definitely from Umbrella. Those zombies smelled just like them. Toxic.

"So let me guess, they were hoping to use this man-made virus for military purposes, like a weapon?" Logan asked.

"Yeah, that was their main goal. They had other Bio Organic Weapon projects, too. Luckily, they all got defunct, thanks to us." Jill smirked with pride.

"Good on ya, lady." Logan shrugged.

"Come to think of it, I saw some logs about mutants and the effects certain drugs and viruses had on them too," Jill said as she thought back to her investigation at Spencer Mansion. Then it hit her. "And given what you told me so far, I can only assume you were one of the mutants they tested their viruses on before escaping containment."

"You could say that. And I'd like to thank the bastards responsible for my claw treatment."

"Experimentation on mutants. When you think they couldn't sink any lower…" Jill gritted her teeth. She lost many comrades on the force because of those mad scientists and their man-made monsters. Many innocent people, human or mutant be damned, also lost their freedom and lives to Umbrella. And from what Logan implied, other organizations are willing to do the same thing. It made Jill's blood boil the more she thought about it.

And given the present mutant situation, it was doubtful anyone would protest violations of mutant rights, least of all that blowhard Senator Kelly. It seemed all he ever talked about in press conferences was the growing Mutant Menace.

"If that's how you feel, why didn't you get the word out on the messed-up shit Umbrella was doing before this outbreak happened?" asked Logan.

"We tried, but not a single person believed us. After my comrades and I escaped Spencer Mansion by the skin of our teeth, we went to R.P.D. police chief Brian Irons and requested permission to investigate the Umbrella Corporation further, but he shut us down. And now there's a city-wide outbreak." Jill groaned.

"Given its history, Umbrella's influence over Raccoon City must run deep too. Deep enough to cover up things they don't want the public to hear and have some greedy asshole in their back pocket to help with that, no doubt." Logan surmised.

"That theory has some weight." Jill thought, "He's always been a stubborn asshole, but I wouldn't be surprised if Chief Irons being one of Umbrella's stooges turned out to be true. It would certainly explain why he was eager to shut S.T.A.R.S. down."

Hell, Irons even ordered the arrests of potential mutants in Raccoon City. It was unknown what happened to the ones that were detained. Irons claimed those mutants were sent to the Mutant Control Agency, but for all Jill knew, he could have sent them to Umbrella. And if he was really working for Umbrella, then she could only imagine the horrors inflicted on the captured mutants. And to think, she was indifferent to mutants until now.

"Not that it matters now. I'm getting out of this city somehow," said Jill, to Logan's surprise.

"I thought you were a cop. Wouldn't it make sense for you to want to defend the city?"

"I can't save Raccoon City. The resident evil here is too much for anyone to handle. The city is doomed. The only thing I can do is escape alive before I become one of the undead." Jill said somberly, "Those monsters took everything from me. My hometown, most of my friends, my livelihood… everything… and in their place is a never-ending nightmare. I'm not safe, whether I'm in a dream or reality."

Logan could see the reluctance and sadness on Jill's face. She probably grew up in this town and dedicated her life to protecting it as a police officer. And now, after that mansion incident, Jill was battling nightmares no matter where she was or what state she was in. She was hiding it well, but it must be painful to have abandoned hope for the city, however fleeting.

"I'm sorry you had to come all this way only to find a zombie apocalypse, Logan, but you should stop looking into Umbrella. At least for now." Jill stated urgently, "If I was you, I'd get out of Raccoon City while you can before the outbreak gets even worse and there's no way out."

"Sorry, Valentine, but I came here looking for dirt on Umbrella, and I ain't leaving 'til I do." Logan refuted.

Jill should have expected this response from Logan.

He seemed like a determined man. She could relate. Just as he was determined to find Umbrella's secrets, she was determined to escape this hell hole.

"If that's how you feel, I won't stop you. If you're looking for any info on Umbrella, you should check City Hall. I don't know if there's anything useful there, but if you're really curious…"

"Thanks. I'll get right on it." Logan stood up from the stairs and began walking to the entrance.

"Going already?"

"Feeling lonely?"

"I can take care of myself."

"I think you used all your bullets." Logan reminded, "You sure you can get around without ammo?"

"Actually, you'd be surprised by how you can find useful items lying around," Jill smirked.

"Sure, I'll buy that." Logan chuckled.

"Anyway, going alone isn't smart, even with your mutant powers. You don't know your way around, so you'll need someone to guide you."

"Like you?"

"Yeah." Jill nodded, "After that, we go our separate ways."

"You're willing to help me? Even though I'm a mutant?" Logan asked.

"Don't get me wrong. I don't fully trust mutants to behave themselves." Jill replied, "But, after what I've seen, I'm not so narrow-minded as to think that a mutant with a grudge against mankind is the only threat. There are madmen playing god and they created the walking horrors outside. And those types need to be brought to justice."

Logan was skeptical of her words at first, but the conviction in Jill's eyes didn't betray her. She was being honest, something rare among even regular humans.

"One of these days, Umbrella will go down for what they've done to my city and for what they did to you. So, for the time being, will you work with me?" Jill asked as she walked up to him and extended her hand to Logan.

He paused for a moment, thinking she still might trick him later. But, if he really wanted info on Umbrella, then trusting her was his only option.

"Fine by me." Logan said as he firmly shook hands with Jill, "But, don't think I'll let double crossing me slide. I'll warn you right now, darlin', I'm the best there is at what I do, and what I do isn't very nice."

"And I wouldn't expect any less from a big strong man like you." Jill teased. "And my promise to shoot you if you direct your claws on me still stands."

"Hehe, I do appreciate a lady with a fire in her belly."

"Flattery won't get you anywhere with me."

Either way, their partnership was sealed for the moment.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

"Hey! Is anyone in there?! Let me in now!" a man's voice shouted from outside. He was likely a survivor of a recent horde of zombies attacking the streets.

"He sounds chipper. If he keeps making noise out there, we'll have more unwanted guests,"

"Then lets him in. He's a civilian, and I would like to protect as many people as possible."

"I'm regretting this already…"

"What can I say other than Welcome to Raccoon City?"

[-Meanwhile-]

It was deployed not long ago. It was given instructions to track down the last remaining S.T.A.R.S. members. The nearest targets hiding in Raccoon City.

The inferior specimens have encroached on every inch of the city. Even with these minor hindrances, it will succeed in its mission. First by eliminating the two S.T.A.R.S. members still in the city. And then, it will track the remaining members currently snooping around in Europe.

T02 located one S.T.A.R.S. member, Brad Vickers. However, the target escaped elimination, and T02 had no idea where he could be hiding. Tracking Vickers down again would not pose an issue. T02 will find Vickers and Jill Valentine and eliminate them both.

Lyall the Werewolf: Well, that's the first chapter. Hopefully, this was a good start. I had a few false starts before settling on this one. I can see this chapter being exposition-heavy, but large amounts of context would be needed to explain what's going on in Resident Evil 3. Not everything may be accurate to the source material, but I'd say it got the job done.

Before anyone makes any statements about how Wolverine's healing factor didn't save him from turning into a zombie in the Marvel Zombies continuity, let me counter that point: the Hunger Virus from that continuity is fundamentally different from the T-Virus of Resident Evil. From what I understand, the Hunger Virus was made specifically to target superhumans. It can also affect literal gods like Thor. The T-Virus operates somewhat more realistically by comparison because it has no specific target, so I firmly believe that Wolverine's healing factor can resist this virus, thus negating the threat of zombification. Of course, his Mutant biology in general could grant him and other Mutants immunity to the T-Virus, but who's to say?

So yeah, that was chapter 01. Here's hoping the next chapter won't take months to upload.

Happy Holloween!
