A Wolf And A Spider

"Oh, this is going to be so much fun, pumpkin!" Mettaton said as he put makeup on his face, his daughter beside him. The robot had decided to dress up as a vampire while Luna had been unsure of what to be.

"But, Dad, I'm not sure what I want to be for Halloween," she said, looking at her wolf ears and tail.

"Oh, don't worry, darling. I have a few ideas," he said as he finished putting on his makeup. "Now, let's get you ready."

To the teen's surprise, her father scooped her up and set her down on the counter facing him. "Alright, let's see," he said, picking up the makeup. "Hold still, pumpkin."

Trusting her father, she felt him add white face paint to her face and black eyeliner to her eyes. She was curious as to what he had in mind, but she sat patiently still.

Mettaton smiled as he carefully painted his daughter's face. "Almost done, sweetheart," he said before stepping back and looking thoughtful before adding something and stepping back again, smiling. "Perfect."

She looked at him. "What did you paint my face as?" She asked, sensing he had painted her face to be part of her costume.

The robot helped her down from the counter and gently turned her around. "Look," he said.

Luna gasped as she saw her father's work. Her face was painted into that of a beautiful white butterfly with yellow stars over her eyes and pink hearts on either side of her face. Glitter was added to the edges of the wings to make them sparkle. Luna felt her eyes tear up a little as she was surprised and happy that her father had made her look like a beautiful butterfly.

"Oh, sweetie, are you alright?" Mettaton asked, quickly grabbing a tissue and drying his daughter's eyes, being careful not to ruin her makeup.

She nodded. "Yes," she said. "Sorry, Dad. I just...I love it. I've never had my face painted before."

The robot was surprised before smiling. "Well, I'm glad I could make your first face-painting experience a good one, pumpkin," he said. "I can find you a costume in the wardrobe to go with it."

"Actually, is it okay if my costume is just my face being painted?" She asked. "I've...well...I've never been to a party before and...,"

She trailed off and he understood. "Oh, pumpkin, it will be alright," he said before he noticed her purple shirt and blue jeans seemed to compliment her face paint quite well. "And actually, I agree. You look perfect for the party."

They took a picture together and Mettaton noticed the time. "We should get going. Muffet's going to start the party soon," he said.

"Muffet? She's the spider lady that owns the bakery, right?" Luna asked.

"Yes," her father said.

Luna was nervous. She hadn't yet met Muffet and she was shy around people she didn't know. Mettaton noticed how nervous his daughter was and he smiled. "Don't worry. Muffet is a good friend of mine. She'll adore you, sweetheart," he reassured her as they headed for Muffet's home.

The party was in full swing and Luna, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the people there, found a corner to stand in and observe everyone. She saw Alphys dressed as her favorite anime character talking to Gaster, who was dressed as a knight. Next to him where two skeletons Luna guessed were Sans and Papyrus. She hadn't met them yet, but she had heard about them. She saw Papyrus was dressed as a superhero and Sans was a robot.

As she observed everyone, she didn't notice that Muffet had spotted her and was curious about her.

Muffet noticed the teenager in a corner, watching everyone and she was at first concerned that the child wasn't enjoying herself when she noticed the girl's wolf ears and tail and gasped. "That must be Luna, Mettaton's daughter," she said to herself.

Now curious about the girl, the spider decided to step in and help the child not feel so overwhelmed. She walked up to her, smiling.

Luna noticed the spider, who was dressed like a witch, come up to her and she grew nervous as she realized it was Muffet. "Good evening, dearie," Muffet said warmly. "You must be Luna."

The girl looked at her in surprise before her ears laid flat and her tail curled around her ankles, indicating her fear. "Oh, dear, are you not feeling well?" The spider asked in concern. "Is the crowd too much? We can go into the kitchen. I need to check on the food and I could use a helper."

Luna managed to nod and felt Muffet's hand on her shoulder. The spider led her to the kitchen, which was a few rooms away from where the party was. The teenager felt a bit better, but was curious as Muffet closed the door to the kitchen and then turned to the teen. "Now then," she said. "I couldn't help noticing that you're afraid of me, dearie."

The teenager's eyes widened as she looked for an escape, but spider webs covered the other two exits and Muffet was blocking the other door. She trembled in fear, looking at the spider anxiously and Muffet shook her head. "No, no. That will not do," she said. "As a hostess, I cannot ignore when a guest isn't having fun. And I certainly can't ignore the daughter of one of my best customers when she isn't enjoying herself at the party."

Luna guessed her father must have told Muffet about her and she looked up as the spider came closer. The teen took a step back before tripping and landing on the spiderweb behind her. She stuck fast to it and she gasped and trembled as Muffet stood in front of her.

"Oh, dearie, shh," the spider cooed softly, gently brushing some of Luna's hair away from her face, gently petting the girl's wolf ears. "Shh, shh. Auntie Muffet isn't going to hurt you."

The teenager looked up at the spider in surprise and Muffet smiled. "Your father told me that you're shy around those you don't know and I've been wanting to meet the adorable girl that he won't stop bragging about," she said, noticing tears had gathered in Luna's eyes and she took a tissue, gently wiping away the tears without ruining the girl's makeup. "There. No more tears now, dearie."

Luna bit her lip, but she began to calm down a little. Muffet then chuckled. "Of course, I must earn your trust, dearie," she said. "And a little birdie told me that your wolf ears are very ticklish."

The girl tried to move back, but the web stopped her and Muffet grinned, tickling Luna's wolf ears gently. "Cootchie, cootchie, coo!" She cooed at her.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Luna laughed, squealing as two hands tickled her stomach and two more tickled her neck.

"Aww, my niece is just so cute!" Muffet said with a smile.

Luna squealed as the tickle torture continued for a bit longer before Muffet stopped, seeing her niece was getting tired. "You okay, dearie? I didn't go overboard, did I?" She asked.

The teenager giggled and shook her head. "No, I'm good," she said.

The spider got the teen free from the web, holding the girl in a comforting hug when Luna stumbled a bit. "Hold on. I've got you, dearie," the spider said soothingly.

Luna let Muffet help her before she looked up at her, seeing the spider smile at her. "See? I'm not scary now, am I?" She asked, tickling Luna's neck again, making her giggle.

The girl pulled away, giggling, and Muffet let her. "By the way, dearie, who did your makeup tonight? You look absolutely darling," she said.

"My dad," Luna replied before looking at the spider curiously. "Um...you're my aunt?"

"Of course, dearie!" The spider said, gently booping the child on the nose with one finger. "Your father is not only one of my best customers, but also a dear friend of mine and when I heard he adopted you, I wanted to meet you. I must admit I was a tad jealous that Gaster and Undyne got to meet you first, but when your father explained that you were nervous around those you didn't know, I understood."

Luna looked away. "I just...I've always had people make fun of my wolf ears and...well...I guess I'm still getting used to being accepted for what I am," she admitted.

"Oh, dearie, I know just what you mean," Muffet said. "We monsters have not had it easy since we came to the surface. Like you, we were often judged for our appearances. Thankfully, there are many that do accept us, but there are the occasional people who say mean things to us."

The teen was surprised. "But...why?" She asked. "I mean, I was a bit afraid of you, Aunt Muffet, but...you're not mean or evil."

"True, but fear is a powerful thing, dearie. Had you not gotten trapped against that web, you would have run away and not given me a chance to prove you could trust me, am I right?"

Though Muffet's words were gently spoken, Luna blushed a bit in embarrassment, knowing her aunt was right. "I'm not upset, dearie," the spider said, hugging the girl. "Just remember, we monsters would never hurt you. You're one of us, despite the fact that you are human."

The girl smiled. "Thanks, Aunt Muffet," she said.

"Well, well. I was wondering where my little girl had been kidnapped to," came Mettaton's voice as he came into the kitchen, smiling at them. "Are you turning my daughter into a witch like you, Muffet? Teaching her some spells?"

"Why! How dare you, you scoundrel!" Muffet said, the smile on her face taking the heat out of her words and proving to Luna that her aunt and father were just playing. "Accusing me of doing such! I would never change my darling niece's appearance. She's much too cute for that."

Luna giggled at that, to which Muffet winked at her. Mettaton decided to be sneaky then and zoomed up to the spider, giving her a kiss on the cheek, shocking Muffet into blushing a bright red. "Ah, that's a pretty picture," he said teasingly.

"Oh, you!" She said in mock offense, giving chase as he danced away. Luna got a sneaky idea and tripped her father, making him fall into the same spiderweb she had fallen into earlier.

"Hey, Auntie Muffet," she said. "Auntie Alphys told me a secret."

"She did?" The spider asked curiously.

"Uh-huh," Luna said with a nod. "My dad is really ticklish."

"Luna!" Mettaton said in mock horror. "Betrayed by my own daughter."

Muffet laughed. "Well then," she said. "Care to help me tickle your father, dearie?"

"Yes, Auntie," the teenager said.

Mettaton howled with laughter as his daughter and friend tickled him, to which he retaliated and tickled them back when he got free of the webs. Luna squealed as her father tickled her and Muffet was laughing her hardest.

After a bit, Mettaton let them up. "A wolf and a spider," the robot said with a chuckle. "An effective team up."

"Especially now that my niece knows she can trust me," Muffet said with a smile.

Luna hugged them both. "Thanks for accepting me, Auntie," she said.

"And thank you for accepting me, dearie," the spider said, returning the warm hug, happy to have a new niece.

Yay! Luna has a new aunt. :)
