We're back with Seven Days of Halloween for the fifth year in a row! Last year we did all crossovers, this year we're doing fandoms that I hadn't written for before 2022. Also, coincidentally, all of the stories this year feature LGBTQ relationships, that was not on purpose lol.

Day 1 (Oct. 25th) - The Mitchells VS. The Machines

Day 2 (Oct. 26th) - Sonic

Day 3 (Oct. 27th) - Victorious

Day 4 (Oct. 28th) - Mythic Quest

Day 5 (Oct. 29th) - Zombies

VELMA IS A LESBIAN NOW LET'S GO. This story is more about lesbian Velma and less about Halloween but it is Halloween and Velma is a lesbian and that should be enough.

Happy Halloween!

To be honest, her parents should have expected it. They had named their daughter Velma, after all. No one in their right mind names their child Velma and expects said child to be straight.

Still, Velma had to admit that she'd forgotten to actually tell her parents that she was a lesbian. She'd left several clues and hadn't tried to hide any of her girlfriends, but her parents were not detectives and they did not look for any of her clues or extrapolate hypotheses from the evidence Velma provided.

So her parents didn't find out about her love life until one Sunday morning a few weeks before Halloween when they were having their weekly family brunch.

"So, Daphne and I are dressing up for Halloween," Velma said casually.

"Aww, that's so cute. I used to love dressing up with friends," Angie Dinkley gushed.

"Uh, no. We're not dressing up as friends."

"As enemies, then?" Dale Dinkley joked.

"No, it's a couple's costume. Wait. You guys knew Daphne was my girlfriend, right?"

"You have a girlfriend?" Dale asked, stunned.

"You're gay?" Angie asked, even more flabbergasted.

"How did you not know?! Daphne is like my third girlfriend!"

"Sweetheart," Angie said, "you never told us."

"Oh. Huh. I guess I didn't. I didn't try to hide it, though."

"Well," Dale said, leaning back in his chair. "Well, obviously your mother and I accept you. I hope you didn't refrain from telling us because you were scared we wouldn't accept you."

"I wasn't scared. It literally just didn't occur to me that I had to come out to you because I've always been gay so that's always been my normal."

"It is normal," Angie said, "there's nothing wrong with being gay. Tell Daphne that she's always welcome here."

That was already true, but Velma appreciated the sentiment.

"I thought Daphne was in a relationship with that Fred fellow, though," Dale said thoughtfully.

Velma burst out laughing, "What? Oh no. Fred is dating Shaggy. Fred and Daphne dated briefly, though, before they realized that there were greener pastures for both of them."

"Oh. So your whole little friend group, huh?" Dale chuckled a little.

"Yep. Except for Scooby. I don't know if he's gay or bi or anything because he's a dog."

"That's nice. It's nice to have friends with common hobbies and interests."

Velma laughed again, liking how her mother had framed it, like being gay was a hobby.

"Thanks, mom, dad. Thanks for accepting me."

"Thanks for telling us," Dale said.

"You should invite Daphne for brunch next week," Angie suggested.

"I will. That's a really good idea." It hadn't occurred to her that her relationships might be a big deal to her parents, but she had to admit she liked being open with them, and she liked the idea that she and Daphne would always have somewhere where they could be accepted and out.
