"Chopard." Esme Cullen said as she noticed my necklace, "I must say you've got an elegant taste, Isabella."
It was a great deal to impress Esme Cullen! She was one of the most elegant and best dressed women in our business and social circle. Edward's father had died when he was young, and Esme had taken care of their business empire with Edward's grandfather. She was a very confident, headstrong woman, and her personality was something I had always admired.
I was really glad to impress her. I had hired the best stylists for today's party. Esme was throwing an engagement party for us, and it was our first appearance as a couple. Of course, I didn't want to take any chances!
"Isabella, Isabella, Isabella. You're looking so pretty!" Alice Cullen, Edward's younger brother's wife arrived at that time and commented.
"I guess I'll make sure the things are going as per the plan," Esme said and left without acknowledging Alice's presence.
"She's very happy right now," Alice laughed. "Finally she's getting a daughter-in-law of her stature!"
I smiled, but I had to admit, she was so loud! No wonder Esme didn't seem to like her. Alice didn't... fit in!
If I was honest to myself, I really had my opinions about Jasper Cullen. How could he marry just anybody in the name of 'love'? Didn't he think about his family's legacy?
Well, they were lucky that the other brother, who cared a lot about their legacy, was the head of the Cullen Inc. and their legacy was on his shoulders. And I should just be glad that he was the one going to be my husband!
"You're looking beautiful." Edward said as he entered the room at that time. He was getting ready in another room. I must say his stylist had done a fabulous job!
"Thanks, you're also looking quite dapper," I said. He always looked good!
I guess our children would be blessed with amazing genes! I couldn't believe I was thinking about children, but well, that was the eventuality and I was glad the father of my children was going to be someone so handsome!
"Well, I'll give you a few minutes alone." Alice winked and left us alone.
"Ready?" he asked me.
"No, please give me a minute. I'm just trying to make sure everything is perfect." I said as I checked myself in the full size mirror. Everything needed to be perfect tonight. Period.
"Don't worry, you're looking great." he said without looking at me as he adjusted his tie while looking in the mirror. "Mom certainly would have commented if anything was wrong. She told me she liked your look."
"Phew!" I said.
"I guess we make a great couple!" he said as he put his arms around my waist and observed us in the mirror.
"Now that's what I call a 'power couple'!" I smiled.
"Yup, equal in every sense!" he said.
"May you have a lifetime of joy, love and success together." His grandfather Marcus Cullen raised a toast. He was quite a magnificent man. I'd love to have this much energy at his age! He was the founder of Cullen Inc. and he's known as a ruthless, visionary businessman. Edward really looked up to him. He said he was his hero and he had so much to learn from him. I also couldn't wait to learn everything from him.
The party was going great! People thought Edward and I made a great pair, and well, I had to agree with them!
I smiled as I saw Edward chatting with my brother. Emmett and Edward were going to get along really well. They had met quite a few times at business conferences and social events, but I guess they were really going to be good friends now, just like Rosalie and I were!
They had many common interests. They were very extremely ambitious and really passionate about their work. And they both liked sports; I was sure they were going to have many Tennis sessions together now! They wanted to take their respective businesses to new heights. I was sure they were going to get benefitted by each other's contacts. Overall, I could see just how fruitful our marriage was going to be for everyone!
I noticed that Jasper and Alice were chatting and laughing with each other in the corner instead of socializing with others. I guess I would never be able to understand how anyone could be so ambitionless, and that too, when he's been lucky enough to be born in such a privileged family!
"Oh Isabella, I just remembered something. I've been invited to New York fashion week. Would you like to accompany me?" Esme asked when we were at the dinner table after some time, "I'd have liked Edward to go with you, but he hates fashion shows. Don't you, Edward?" she chuckled.
"Oh, I really hate them," Edward said.
"Oh, you said you didn't get the invite this time." Alice chimed in.
"I got it today," she told her and then turned her face towards me, "So, would you like to come with me, Isabella?"
Jasper put his arm around Alice's shoulder and squeezed it. It seemed she wanted to go. Maybe I should give her a chance to go? Or maybe not!
It might actually be helpful for me to attend this event with Esme. I could really make use of some new contacts! And if Alice wanted to go and Esme didn't agree to take her with her, well, Esme must have had some reasons behind that!
"I'd love to accompany you," I smiled.
