Blake hummed lightly as she tapped the small box against her hand, she took one step at a time up the stairs, her ears twitching slightly. She took a deep breath peeking into the room seeing Ruby's back was turned to her making her smile, from where she stood she could see the redhead folding clothes humming to herself.
The woman wasted no time in filling the gap between the two as she wrapped one arm around Ruby's waist feeling her jump. "Dust you need to stop scaring me like that, I honestly need to put a bell in your pocket." Ruby said, laughing a little as she rested her free hand on Blake's.
Blake smiled leaving a light kiss on her shoulder. "Sorry, I never mean to scare you, it's always when you're in your zone I forget to announce my presence." She let her nose run along the woman's shoulder going to her neck before she flicked her ears against Ruby's skin making her giggle.
"It's okay, this time. Did you get what you needed?" She asked, leaning back into Blake humming.
"I did." Blake whispered, pulling out the box from behind her back before holding it out in front of the redhead. Ruby raised an eyebrow before grabbing hold of the box, she spun around in the faunus' hold giving her a look.
"I said you didn't have to get me anything, you said you weren't going to get me anything."
"Oh come on it's your birthday Ruby, also I didn't agree to such a thing, it's only fair that I got you something since you got me something for mine. "
The redhead glared at her wife before a sigh left her lips, she looked over the small box before giving a smile at Blake's wrapping. The woman was precise with her wrapping that was for sure, adding a small red bow on top.
"Honestly, you really didn't." Ruby whispered tugging on the wrapping paper hoping to not make too much of a mess with it. After a little she got all the paper off the small box before she slipped the top off looking inside. A gasp left her mouth as she looked at the bracelet in front of her, she pulled it out setting the box down on the bed.
"This is beautiful." She whispered, running her thumb along the rose. It was a metal rose with vines creating the main part of the bracelet, on the stem of the rose were two purple amethyst stones going down.
"I remember you once told me you wanted to do something with the old metal from Crescent Rose, but could never make up your mind." She whispered looking down watching as the woman slipped it on around her wrist. "I also wanted you to have something from the little ones, so whenever you were away you'd have something from all of us, I figured too that a bracelet would be better since you already have a necklace." She said her eyes going to the cross around Ruby's neck
Ruby smiled looking up at the woman before wrapping her arms around her shoulder. "It's beautiful, I love it. It'll add to my good luck charm for coming home." She whispered, letting her fingers tangle in Blake's hair making the faunus smile. She let her hands go to the redhead's waist pulling her closer before leaning her forehead against Ruby's, the warmth in her chest burning.
"Happy Birthday." She whispered, closing her eyes. Ruby hummed leaving a light kiss on Blake's nose. "I'm curious who did you go to?"
"Actually, the funny thing was, I went to George."
Ruby gasped resting her hand against her chest giving a fake hurt look making the faunus laugh. "Is that the reason why he would always kick me out so early," She pouted, turning around to continue folding laundry. "I was starting to wonder why he was doing that."
Blake smiled standing next to Ruby before picking up a random piece of clothing folding it. "I'm sorry, that was my fault, I couldn't have you make it, that would ruin the surprise." She said looking over to the clock on the far wall. "Also, before I forget to mention, after we're done with this can you help me get the little ones a bag?"
Ruby hummed, raising an eyebrow. "Are they going somewhere?"
"I do actually," The faunus said, grabbing some of the folded laundry bringing it over to the dresser. "My parents are coming and taking the little ones for the weekend, also taking you out to dinner tonight as well, but that is as all you're getting out of me."
"You have everything planned out it seems." Ruby said, rolling her eyes, she grabbed the empty laundry basket going over to the closet.
Blake hummed, shrugging a little. "Only the main event I have planned, anything else before or after is up to you, it's your night after all."
"I'm surprised your parents are taking them, didn't Yang want to have them tonight?"
Blake laughed a little, taking the hangers from her wife. "That's only because Yang wants an excuse to go out trick or treating and yet she doesn't understand why taking two 8 month old babies isn't a good idea, it got to the point Weiss wasn't even responding to her anymore while I was on the phone with her earlier."
The redhead pinched the bridge of her nose before sighing. "She's going to be the death of me honestly." She said, grabbing a shirt and slipping it into one of the hangers. "They wouldn't even remember if they went trick or treating at this age, they honestly can't even eat the candy."
"That's what I tried explaining to her, she just wants it for herself."
The redhead smiled, shaking her head. "That's Yang for you."
Blake hummed her eyes landing on the bracelet before smiling, she leaned forward kissing the redhead on the cheek before grabbing the finished clothing.
