Author's Note: *IMPORTANT*

Dear Reader: The story you are about to read is strictly rated M for Mature. This story contains strong language, strong sexual content, and strong graphic violence.

I am putting this out here because a long long long time ago, on a now deleted story, I received hate mail for the strong story I created. This is my first rated M story to be out since the last one, so don't say I didn't warn you!

Sheesh, talk about caring huh? Anyway, now that the disclaimer is out of the way and you are okay with reading this origin story, without further delay, here is No Heart. Enjoy.

Care Bears countdown. Four, three, two, one.

Little Jason Cherrywood stood up from his hospital bed as his favorite cartoon was on. It was a very old cartoon, perhaps early 80s. The show's premise was a very simple one. It was about kind and caring stuffed toy bears and animals who protected the children from negative thoughts such as sadness, anger, and loneliness. At times, the children in those cartoons faced different issues due to where they lived, family conditions and most of the time, most of the negativity came from the evil No Heart, the main villain of the cartoon.

Jason never understood why that person was there. He didn't mind seeing No Heart come up on screen with his niece Shrieky, or his henchman Beastly. They were funny. But they always seemed so out of place. Like they didn't belong in that world. They were just there, doing evil. But Jason was always interested in No Heart. Who was he? What the heck was he and why did he hate the care bears so much?

Just then, the door opened and Jason's grandfather came in, holding a Happy Meal.

"Grandpa!" cried Jason excitedly and jumped out of bed.

"Someone wanted fries and a burger." winked the grandfather with a mischievous grin.

He pulled up a chair and caressed his grandson's head.

"I spoke to the doctor. He said that you're almost ready to leave the hospital after they do more exams." said his grandfather.

"Exams?" pouted Jason.

"Yes my dear. Examinations for your brain. They are trying to figure out how to help you with your condition. Trust me my boy, a lot of good people like you go through the same thing." said the grandfather.

"Why does my body shake and my brain stop?" asked Jason, perhaps for the one hundredth time. Jason's grandfather smiled warmly and never hesitated to answer him.

"Because we are imperfect humans my dear boy. Most of us are born with one eye, no voice, and at times, some people are born with your condition." said Jason's grandfather. He turned to the TV and smiled.

"Care Bears. It's been a while since I've seen this crummy show." said Jason's grandfather.

"You saw this when you were growing up?" asked Jason.

The old man chuckled. "Bits and pieces of it I'm afraid. I was already old when this cartoon came out." said Jason's grandfather.

Jason turned to the TV and No Heart came on screen. He was moving his dark blue hands around his cauldron, while Beastly was jumping up and down comically. No Heart then said something to Beastly that was slightly funny. Just then, Jason's grandfather began to laugh heartily.

Jason laughed too, but at his grandfather's hearty laughter.

"You like No Heart?" asked Jason between laughs.

Jason's grandfather shrugged. "Yes and no. He's funny at times. But sometimes he can be very mean to the Care Bears. He doesn't like them much." said the grandfather.

"Why?" asked Jason.

Why indeed. Jason knew the answer to that question. But little Jason's grandfather looked at him with an astonished look in his eyes.

"I know why. It's because No Heart is a shadow. A shadow that wishes to spread unhappiness to the world!" exclaimed the grandfather theatrically.

"What made him bad?" asked Jason, looking at his grandfather and looking at the TV screen with No Heart walking around Care a Lot, looking at the care bears with an angry look, as he was drawn.

"I know why. It's a long sad story. But I don't think you are ready for it. I told your parents this story when they were little. You father was my next door neighbor and he grew up with your mother. He would come over to play all the time, and I used to spook him with this story. Me and your uncle." said Jason's grandfather.

"How old were they?" asked Jason.

"They were both 8 years old." replied his grandfather.

"I'm 8 years old! C'mon Grandpa, you can tell me the story." said Jason.

Jason's grandfather smiled and put his hands together.

"Get ready to hear No Heart's origin story," he said theatrically.*
