The Dark Tome. This dark and terrible grimoire is better known as the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. The Book Of The Dead.
This was the very first Mystic Manuscript ever made. Bound in human flesh, and inked in human blood. In Lovecraft's universe, it was written by one of the first worshippers of the Great Old Ones: Abdul Alhazred.
But in this one, it was created by Fear's first herald: Imhotep. Scholar and priest of Ra, with a corrupted soul of madness that desired power.
The book serves as a passageway into the knowledge of evil and horror. It is a bestiary and guide to all monsters and darkness. Within its pages held power dark and terrible, including summonings, curses, dark spells, invocations, resurrection passages, prophecies, and one spell that could trap a living being within the book itself.
So feared was the Necronomicon's power that it was banned in most countries and all organized ecclesiastics. Cultists mad and deranged tried to seek its power, even writing down copies. But some people tried to destroy the cursed book. Only to find that no blade, no spear, no ax, no arrow, and no bullet could pierce its hide and pages. No flame could burn it away. No pressure could crush it. No explosive could render it to pieces. So great was the evil that nothing could destroy it.
And the book seems to be sentient in a way. It updates itself constantly, growing more and more pages. So far, it has covered every monster and event that the Midnight Society has ever faced. And it retains all its old knowledge as well, of the Great Old Ones, the Outer Gods, and all from Lovecraft's universe. It knows this universe now, and every dimension within it. It even knows Hell, and seems rather disappointed that the demons are nothing as it suspected.
It knows of the Supreme Court of the Unified Universe and Infinity, banded together as Omni. Yet it knows nothing about The One. It knows of the Dream World, of time travel, of Atlantis, of the Comic Book Dimension…even the timeline that came before.

From what I've read, I've managed to figure something out about the Ultimate. Remember how it can be stronger when the host is born from an unholy and inhuman mating? Well, it says that the Ultimate can resist exposure to madness and can look at a Great Old One and Outer God without having their very sanity torn to shreds! Given how demons are unholy and monsters are inhuman…maybe I'M the Ultimate!
…
"Woah…well, that explains a lot." Jack Black noted. "Is that why your Shadow Demon form is different?"
"I think so." Max replied. "Given how important the Ultimate is, maybe it can be the only thing that can stop Fear and prevent R'lyeh from rising! And I won't even need the Ultimate Armor for that!"
"Abdul Alhazred…" Lovecraft noted. "Yes, that was one of my previous lives back in my universe. It was I who wrote the Necronomicon in my universe, back when I was under Azathoth's command. Yet I feel slightly at ease, knowing that version of that cursed book now remains gone. Unlike this one…"
"Local crazy conspiracy theorist James A. Janisse is speaking of global mental voices getting louder." R.L. Stine added. "Fear must be trying to reach out through the Dream World, merging it with the Mystic Realm to force his way into our physical dimension."
"He must be getting desperate, then." Max noted. "Now, if only I could figure out what the Ultimate must do to make sure R'lyeh stays hidden. But the book's not saying ANYTHING about that!"
She turned back to the page of R'lyeh and its coordinates, and once she did, a sharp pain stabbed her on the finger!
"Ow! Stupid sharp book!"
She shook it off as the black blood splotched onto the pages. And then, it changed. Forming into words that became a bloody red, the page soaking it in.
"Woah, what's this?" Max noticed it. "Yog-Sothoth Demonicus Cthulhu?"
BAM!
"AH!"
The book slammed itself shut with a loud sound before falling onto its back. It stayed still, not even allowing itself to open when Max tried reading it again.
And then, the eyes on the cover began glowing a dark eerie green. And the mouth…the mouth smiled.
It was…laughing. The book was LAUGHING!
"H' ah yar! H' ahor nafl'fhtagn!"
The Necronomicon roared before it was engulfed in green cosmic flame…and then, it vanished. Everyone was in stunned silence over this.
"There was ANOTHER incantation to make it come to life?!" Max gasped. "No fair! It tricked me!"
"Howard, what did that book say?!" R.L. Stine asked frantically.
"It said 'It is time! It shall awaken!'." H.P. Lovecraft answered. "The Necronomicon has returned to its masters. Now that they have the location of the city…only mere minutes remain."
"Not on our watch." Van Helsing said. "Everyone gear up. I'll inform Dr. Deep that we'll need his help on this one…"
