Chirps of birds could be heard among the trees. The Raven's point is a rather popular spot for many people. The dark lush green forest is a place visited by many nature lovers and people who simply looked for a vacation. It is a common attraction point for tourists visiting Berk, a small town on the shore of Norway.

Hiccup got out from his tent and stretched his limbs as he yawned. Opening his eyes, the auburn haired young man looked around the scenery. His camp was situated beside a small lake in a clearing, deep inside the forest. Normally tourists won't be allowed to venture this deep inside the forest, unless they had special permission.

Hiccup gathered up some wood in the spot where he had lit a campfire the previous night. Once the new campfire was lit up and burning properly, he set up his cooking stand and put a pot on top of it and filled it with water from his flask. While the water heated up, Hiccup went over to the edge of the lake and splashed some water on his face. Once freshened up, he stood up while rubbing his eyes.

Just then he heard his phone ring. Hiccup walked over to his tent and pulled out a towel from his rucksack to wipe his face before unplugging his phone from the powerbank.

"Hello?" Hiccup asked as he answered the phone call while wiping his face with the towel.

"Hey bro. It's me, Tim." The person on the other end of the call answered.

"Oh, Toothless! What's up?" Hiccup exclaimed.

"Well, nothing much for now. Now if your vacation is over, would you mind coming back to the more civilized world? Your girlfriend keeps nagging me about you, and it's getting annoying."

"Oh,you know how Astrid is. She's kinda protective over me." Hiccup said while he poured the heated up water into a disposable paper cup before adding a packet of coffee and sugar blend in it.

"Still, even mom and dad are starting to get worried too, especially after all those disappearances last week. So you better get back safely today or else I'm going to have your hide tanned, Hayden Hiccup Haddock the third."

"Oh, sheesh Toothless. Chill out. I'll be back by evening, alright. Anyway, talk to you later bro."

"Okay. And be safe. Talk to you later." And with that, the call ended. Hiccup sighed and rolled his eyes before taking a sip of his coffee.

For God's sake, he was twenty-five. He wasn't a kid anymore, and is more than capable of taking care of himself. Hiccup put his phone down and went over to the lake and walked along its edge as he enjoyed his morning coffee. Suddenly an irre feeling hit his mind. He felt as if he was being watched.

Hiccup looked at his right, towards the line of trees on the other side of the lake. The irre feeling of being watched was still lingering in his mind as a small gush of wind blew around followed by the sound of dry leaves rustling around. But after looking around for a few seconds and not finding anything, Hiccup dismissed his thoughts and went back to his tent.

Hiccup prepared himself some breakfast with whatever food he was left with and ate it, then cleaned up the plates. After fooling around for a few hours, Hiccup started to pack up. He disassembled his tent and folded it up, then went over to the cooking equipment and gathered them up. Once packing was done, Hiccup cleaned up his campsite and hung the backpack on his shoulders and activated the GPS in his phone and began his trek.

Hiccup walked through the forest with the GPS guiding him where to go. But even after walking for almost a few hours, he wasn't at his destination. Even though he was deep inside the forest it wouldn't take this long to get out. Normally it would take no longer than a couple hours to reach the edge of the forest. Three at most, depending on what obstacles one may face during their journey.

After some more time of trying to find his way, Hiccup finally accepted the fact that he was lost.

"Damn it." Hiccup mumbled under his breath. Seeing his current situation, he did what any sensible person should do. He took out his phone and dialed the emergency number. He had to wait for some time before his call was picked up.

"Hello, this is 112. Please state your emergency." a feminine voice answered from the other side.

"Uh, hello. I'm Hayden Haddock. I got lost in the forest of Raven's point while returning from my camping trip. It would be really nice if I could get some assistance on getting out of here." Hiccup said.

"Okay, What is your position sir?"

"To be honest, I don't know. I've been walking around for a few hours now and I can't seem to find any noticeable landmarks."

"Okay, sir. I need you to remain wherever you are and do not leave your position unless it is really necessary. We're dispatching some officers to…." The voice of the operator died down as static noises began coming out.

"Hello. Hello. Can you hear me? Hello!" Hiccup exclaimed. But then the realization had dawned upon him that the call may have disconnected. Hiccup checked his phone and his suspicions were confirmed.

"Damn it!" Hiccup cursed. He tried to use the Internet, but his efforts were of no avail. Without the Internet working and no signal reaching, his phone was practically useless.

Just then, he heard it. A harsh, modulated whisper, hissing out words that Hiccup couldn't understand. The sound was similar to that of an old radio.

"Seventeen. Five. Woman. Fifteen. Child. Runt." A chill ran down Hiccup's spine as he heard the distorted voices. It was like two voices at once, saying the same thing at exactly the same time.

He could feel the hair on the back of his neck bristle. Just then he heard a quiet rustling in the trees behind him, and then footsteps even. Hiccup looked around in fright, his eyes focused on the darkness hidden behind the large trees around him.

But then he heard the same crackling behind him. Hiccup turned and saw it. His mouth went wide in horror. In front of him, there was standing a creature. Its huge body was probably around forty feet tall and rail-thin, with mummified skin clinging tight to its bones. The creature had no face. Just two metal sirens grafted to a long pole of flesh. Wires connected to the sirens merged with the "neck" of the creature.

Hiccup just gaped in horror. His forest green eyes wide with fear. The auburn haired man was frozen in fear. Hiccup took a few steps back, almost tripping on his own foot in the process.

The megaphones on its "head" screeched to life and then there was that crackling again and those nonsense words and numbers. "Nine. Eighteen. One. Child. Seventeen. Remove. VILE!" The buzzing, doubled voice screamed at him before the creature leapt at him, extending his unnaturally long arms to capture Hiccup.

Seeing this, Hiccup sprang into action. The auburn haired man turned around and ran as fast as possible, narrowly avoiding the hands that tried to capture him. Hiccup ran as fast as his legs would carry him, zig zagging among the trees to lose the monster that was chasing him.

Hiccup could hear its heavy footsteps behind him. He ran and ran, never once stopping. He didn't even dare to look back, too afraid of what he might see if he did. At one point Hiccup saw a fallen tree with a little gap between its trunk and the ground. The gap was barely big enough that he could crawl in there, and that's what he did. He quickly took shelter there.

Once inside his shelter, Hiccup took a peek outside. During his escape, he didn't notice that the night had already fallen. The night sky was clear and the pale moon shone like a silver plate in the night sky. Even with the near cloudless sky, there were very few stars stretching across the vast sky. The occasional rustling of leaves and the sounds of his own labored breaths were the only sounds he could hear.

Dark tree trunks, overhanging branches and vines, clumps of bushes, were filling his view. The bright light of the moon shone through the lattice of leaves, illuminating the dense forest. A thin blanket of fog was in the air, obscuring Hiccup's view of his surroundings. The tall shadowed pines stretching up like arrows into the sky.

Hiccup gulped. The dryness in his throat was getting uncomfortable. Despite the cold atmosphere of the night, he was sweating. He frantically looked around, his eyes searching for any dangers.

He stayed there for a while. And when he did come out, he once again carefully looked around for any dangers. There wasn't anything around him that compromised his safety. No sign of the monster he had been running from either. For a moment Hiccup thought if there really was a monster or was it just some hallucination?

"I should really stop watching so many horror movies these days." Hiccup said to himself, trying to keep his nerves calm.

Hiccup walked away from his hiding spot and tried to find his way out of the forest. But suddenly, he caught some movement out of the corner of his eye. He looked at the general direction, where he thought something was moving. Suddenly he heard twigs snapping behind him. Hiccup turned around and he felt a chill go down his spine as he found the monster standing behind him.

As the monster attempted to capture Hiccup again, he ran. Hiccup ran towards the general direction, where he knew he'd find a road. He dashed through the forest, running in between the trees in an attempt to shake off his pursuer.

Eventually Hiccup found himself on a road outside the forest. Hiccup ran along the road, afraid of what might happen if he stopped and let that monster catch up.

Suddenly, he saw a cat coming down the road, towards him.

"Hey! Hey!" Hiccup yelled out while waving his arms to gain the driver's attention.

It seemed to work as the car came towards him. As it closed in, Hiccup realized that it was a police car. There were two officers inside the car.

"Sir, are you okay?" One of the officers asked as they both stepped out of the car.

"No-no. There, there's something in the forest." Hiccup said, panicking.

"Sir, please calm down." The other officer said as he approached Hiccup.

They both tried to calm Hiccup down when suddenly the crackling of an old radio was heard. Hiccup retreated from the grasp of the officers and staggered back.

And then, he saw it. The officers followed his gaze, and found themselves staring at that monster too.

"What the hell is that!?" One of the officers exclaimed.

Hiccup stared at the monster with horror as it came closer. The officers didn't waste any time and pulled out their handguns and began shooting it in an attempt to stop it.

"Run! Save yourself!" The officer yelled out to Hiccup.

Hiccup glanced at the officer and then ran off towards the forest on the opposite side of the road. He had just entered the forest when suddenly he heard a high pitched screech from behind him.

Hiccup quickly glanced back to see the situation behind him and saw the monster had caught one of the officers in its hand while the other officer was still shooting. Hiccup turned away from the scene and quickly ran deeper in the woods. Behind him he could still hear the sound of the creature that had been chasing him.

Hiccup ran deep inside the forest, ignoring the screams and yells he heard behind him. He soon found himself a hiding spot. Hiccup didn't know how long he was hiding. But after a long time, he heard someone shouting.

"Hello! Mister! Wherever you are, please come out!" He heard the voice of those police officers shout.

Hiccup wasn't entirely sure if it was really them or the monster trying to lure him out. But when he spotted the officers searching for him with flashlights, Hiccup came out of his hiding spot.

"I'm here!" Hiccup announced, letting them know of his presence.

"Oh, thank god you're fine. You gave us quite a fright when you ran off like that." one of the officers said as they approached him.

"What? But officer, that thing-" Hiccup was cut off, when the other officer spoke "Probably some panic attack. It happens when ya get lost in a forest like this at night."

Hiccup felt something off about the officers. There was just something not right.

"Now, let's get you back." One of them announced.

The uneasy feeling in the back of his mind increased even more at this. Hiccup tried to deny their escort, even going as far as to say that he lived nearby so that he could get out of their company. But the officers weren't buzzing.

Suddenly the officers attacked Hiccup. The young man was startled and he tried to escape as the officers lunged at him like a wild beast and chased after him. Even though Hiccup tried his very best to escape, he was soon taken down by the officers.

They both looked drastically different. Their skin was pale as Ash and their eyes had a dazed look. Their faces were twisted into a furious snarl.

One of them was about to lunge at Hiccup, as he tried to crawl away, but the other officer tackled his companion and held him down. Hiccup stared at him and saw that his eyes had turned back to normal.

"Run! Get away! I can't hold back…" The officer yelled out. He looked as if he was trying to fight against his own mind. His body was moving on its own while he tried to stay in control.

Hiccup watched all this in horror but as soon as the officer yelled out "Run!" Again, Hiccup scrambled up on his feet and ran as fast as he could, trying to get as much distance as possible between him and the officer.

As he ran and ran and ran, Hiccup found himself in a clearing. Ahead of him, he could see an old farmhouse. He has heard that there was a farmhouse in this area, but never saw it before until today.

Hiccup ran to the house and found the front door open. He quickly got inside and slammed the door closed and slid on the lock and leaned against the door. Hiccup collapsed on the floor with his back still against the door as he panted due to panic and the exhaustion. After regaining some stability, he lept back on to his feet and started looking around the house.

He moved as quietly as possible, while keeping an eye out for any trouble. The dark, unlight rooms of the house didn't hold any inhabitants. But with the look of the household, it could easily be said that someone did once live here and that person or persons had abandoned this place sometime not too long ago. He or she or they had either left or, or they had found the end of their fate in the hands of that monster.

Hiccup a sudden hollowness in his chest as he thought about the fate of the owner of this property. When he entered another room, Hiccup felt his heart skip a bit when his eyes fell on something particularly. A huge reddish stain on the carpet that laid on the floor of that room.

It didn't take a genius to figure out the stain was of blood. And by the looks of it, it was quite old. And seeing how the stain was smudged on one side, it could easily be deduced that whoever was laying in that puddle was dragged away by someone else or something else.

Hiccup followed the stain and found himself back in the corridor where the front door was. On one side of the corridor there were stairs leading to the upper floors.

Hiccup carefully climbed up the stairs and entered one of the many rooms he found upstairs. As he entered the room, his foot hit something. Hiccup looked down and saw a pump action shotgun laying on the floor.

He quickly picked up the firearm and checked if it was loaded. Unfortunately, there was no ammunition loaded inside the weapon.

"Damn it." Hiccup cursed his luck.

But then, he noticed a gun safe integrated into the wall on the other side of the room. Its metal door was partially open. Hiccup went over to the gun safe and opened it completely and found some spare twelve gauge shotgun shells. Hiccup picked up some of the shells and loaded up the shotgun and stuffed some more in his pockets for future use.

Once confident with his preparation, Hiccup pumped his shotgun, loading up a new round in the chamber.

Hiccup then made his way downstairs. After a bit of searching around, he found the back door, from where he made his way out of the house. Hiccup looked around, his eyes scanning for any danger. Once certain that the coast was clear, he quickly made his way over to the barn.

On his way, he noticed the vast fields filled with crops. Hiccup got inside the barn and found himself greeted with the sight of hay bales, a tractor, and a few barrels of what appeared to be gasoline on one side of the barn.

"I'm sure that bastard came this way!" The sudden yell caught Hiccup's attention.

He peeked out of the barn and found the officers had managed to follow him here. Hiccup quickly hid back inside the barn. Some time later, he heard someone enter the barn. From his hiding spot, he could see that it was one of those two officers.

He looked around for a bit and then was about to leave, but then stopped and glanced directly at the spot Hiccup was hiding at. Hiccup's breath hitched in his throat as he clutched his weapon tightly as the officer slowly walked over to his hiding place.

Out of sheer fear and survival instinct, he shot at the officer. The man dropped on the ground like a sack. Hiccup got out of his hiding spot, shocked and horrified with what he had done.

But he couldn't dwell on his thoughts for long as suddenly, with an inhuman roar, the other officer lunged at him. The two men wrestled for a while, trying to gain an upper hand. Hiccup eventually managed to maneuver his shotgun and point the barrel towards his assaulter.

"I am sorry." Hiccup sobbed and then he pulled the trigger.

There was a loud bang and the officer fell on the ground dead and finally out of his misery.

Hiccup dropped his shotgun and staggered back as he saw the blood on him. He knelt down beside the dead body of the officer as he kept mumbling "I am sorry" over and over again. Hiccup cried, he cried in anguish as everything that happened with him so far took its toll.

But then he felt anger. Anger at the monster that has forced all this on Hiccup. He looked up, his eyes burning with rage as he made up his mind.

He then glanced at the barrels of gasoline and a plan formulated in his mind.

So Hiccup started preparing. He buried the remains of the officers, giving them as good a burial as he could and prayed for them. And then started with his preparations.

With all his preparations done, Hiccup patiently waited. He waited for his target to arrive. His eyes were fixed on his surroundings, while his ears were always on look out for any strange noise. It didn't take long before Hiccup heard the screeching and hisses that have become all too familiar to him.

His head snapped towards the direction of the noise and there he saw it. His target. The monster that has been tormenting him for so long.

Hiccup suppressed the tingle of fear he felt. This was no time for getting afraid. It was time to fight back. To hunt down the hunter itself. Hiccup glared at the monster as it hissed out the nonsense words and numbers. Hiccup simply glared at it.

And then there was a loud screech as the monster dashed towards him. Hiccup turned around and broke into a mad sprint and ran towards the fields. He ran through the dried crops as fast as his legs could carry him, the monster following behind him.

As the monster chased after him, it didn't notice the trap Hiccup had set up in the cover of the field. Suddenly, it tripped as its foot was caught in Hiccup's trap.

Hiccup glanced back and saw the monster falling, just as he had planned. He looked to his left, taking a note of the lit hurricane lamp he had put on top of a wooden post. He quickly took a hold of his shotgun and took his aim and fired.

The lamp broke apart and fell on the puddle of gasoline on the ground below. The fire of the lamp immediately ignited the gasoline.

And with that the whole field caught on fire as the diesel and gasoline Hiccup had sprinkled throughout the field caught on fire along with the dried crops. Hiccup managed to barely make it out of the field in time before the fire lit up the entire field.

Hiccup looked back at the burning field as he heard the roars of the monster. He saw the monster getting up, its whole body engulfed in flames as it screeched and howled. Hiccup quickly pointed his shotgun at the monster and pulled the trigger. He shot until he ran out of ammunition. Then he scavenged through his pockets, taking the extra shells he had and loaded them into the shotgun and fired again.

The monstrous creature roared and howled and screeched while twisting and writhing its body as the fire ate it away. And then it turned around and ran towards the forest with its body still burning.

Hiccup screamed out in rage as he kept shooting at the retreating monstrous creature. When he finally stopped, he found no creature in sight.

The flame had spread out from the field and was now starting to consume everything around. Hiccup dropped his shotgun and quickly retreated from there. When he finally found himself back on the road, it was already dawn.

Hiccup walked along the road as his mind lingered back at the events of yesterday. It was surprising how everything had changed for him in just the span of one night.

Far away from him, Hiccup heard the roar of a car engine. He glanced back and saw a car coming towards his direction and he raised his thumb for a lift.
