Day 2: Pumpkins/Apples/Cinnamon: Pumpkins and Apple Pies
Goku started walking faster and almost dragged Chi-Chi along with him on the pathway to their house.
"Goku, calm down! You're gonna drop me!"
"I'm sorry, Chi-Chi." He stopped abruptly and turned around to look at her. "I didn't mean to."
"What's going on? Why did you start walking so fast all of a sudden?"
"Nothing. I'm just really hungry."
"Dinner will be a little later than usual tonight. I wasn't expecting our car to stop working at my father's house and us having to walk all the way back to our place."
"Well, at least we could do some exercise."
"That's true."
"So why don't we make a bet?" He started jogging in front of her. "Last one to arrive has to wash the dishes on this weekend."
"Goku, you're in charge of that, remember? I cook and you clean the dishes. That's not up for discussion."
"Alright, alright. Let me think…"
"Why don't you tell me what is really going on?"
"It's the pumpkins."
"What?!" Chi-Chi asked completely taken aback.
"There's a pumpkin plantation nearby."
"Oh I see. You want to rush home because you're still scared of them, don't you?"
"Scared is a strong word. I just don't like them at all."
"Because of last Halloween?"
Goku didn't say anything, but he didn't have to. Chi-Chi knew him very well.
"I'm sure you've seen pumpkins when you were younger and know they aren't evil or scary at all." She looked up at him and reached for his large hand. "Come with me."
"Where are we going?"
"We're getting a pumpkin."
"Do we really have to?"
"Yes, we do. Last year I said I was going to change your mind about pumpkins and this is what I'm going to do." She jumped over the fence and ran to the nearest pumpkin, picking it up and running back to him. "Please, hold it."
"Okay." He placed it under his arm, near his waist, and offered her his free hand. "Come on, let me help you."
"Thank you." She grabbed it and jumped out of the fence. Then she motioned the pumpkin he was still holding. "I can carry it now."
"That's cool, I can do it."
"Alright." Chi-Chi smiled to herself, happy to know she was already succeeding with her plan without even getting started with it.

.

"Chi-Chi, look at what I got!" Goku walked into their kitchen extremely proud of himself with a basket full of apples.
"They look beautiful."
"I was thinking maybe we could make a pie later."
"We? As in you and me together?"
"Yeah, why not?" He placed the basket over the counter. "Since Gohan is away for the weekend, I need to entertain myself with something else."
"Is that what this is about then?"
"Is that a problem?"
"No." She replied harshly and frowned. "Go take a shower. Dinner will be ready when you're done."

When Goku came back down, dinner was already ready and the lights were off, to his surprise. Chi-Chi never left them off at night, no matter if there wasn't anybody there. However, the light in the living room was on.
"Chi-Chi, what are you doing here?" He walked in and was surprised to see her lying down on the couch.
"I was just taking a break after finishing dinner. You should go eat it while it's hot."
"Aren't you going to eat it?"
"Maybe later." She stood up and started walking away. "Not feeling hungry right now."
"Did I do something wrong?"
"No, Goku, you didn't do anything wrong."

.

Chi-Chi heard some noises coming from outside a little later that night. She took some minutes to get up and go downstairs. She walked into the kitchen and noticed the door that led to the yard was open.
"Goku?" She called him when she stopped by the door and took a look around, but he was nowhere to be seen. "Where are you?"
But there was no response. So she decided to go to the lake, where he sometimes likes training with Gohan or just relaxing.
"What are you doing here?"
"I was just trying to make a spooky pumpkin." Goku replied without looking at her.
"You what?" She sat down next to her husband. "You were afraid of them until earlier today."
"I know, but you seemed sad in our living room, so I thought I could do something to cheer you up."
"So you ignore your fear of pumpkins for me?"
"That's right."
"Oh, Goku!" Chi-Chi jumped on his arms and made him fall down. "I can't believe this!"
Goku instinctively wrapped his arms around her, which made their bodies be pressed against each other's. She couldn't stop looking at him and absentmindedly began to stroke his spiky black hair. He stared at her with the same intensity.
"Chi-Chi?"
"Yes?"
"I'm hungry again."
"What?" Disappointment was written all over her face and heard in her voice. "But you ate not too long ago."
"But that wasn't enough for me."
"Three full plates weren't enough for you?!"
"No. You know sometimes I eat more than that."
"Trust me, I know it." She dropped her head in frustration and then got off him. "Come on, let's go back home. I'll heat the leftovers for you."
"Thank you!" He picked her up and flew to their house.

Chi-Chi decided to make an apple pie, since she was already back at the kitchen. So she started peeling some of the apples Goku had picked up earlier and simmering them. It didn't take long until the smell of apples on the stove reached the second floor of the house and Goku came down.
"Chi-Chi, what are you making?"
"Apple pie. You collected so many it would be a pity not to use them. And I was already doing something here, so…"
"Do you need help with anything?"
"No, it's okay. I just need to make the dough and wait until the apples are ready to use."
"I can help you make it."
"Goku, it's okay, really." She insisted. "You don't have to do this just because you're bored without Gohan here."
"But I want to, Chi-Chi."
"You're only doing this because I'm the only person left in this house besides you." The words slipped her mouth before she could stop them.
"What? That's not true."
"It is. You said so yourself."
"No, I didn't. When was it?"
"Earlier today, when you said you needed to entertain yourself with something else because Gohan wasn't here."
"Is that what you think?" He asked surprised, not believing she actually thought that.
"It's pretty clear you think I'm boring." Chi-Chi said annoyed. "Look, I can finish this, okay? You don't have to worry about it."
"Okay, if that's your final word."
"It is." She turned her back to him and blinked hard to stop tears from falling from her eyes.

.

Chi-Chi was sitting outside the house, enjoying the chilly fall weather while she waited for the pie to finish baking. She was almost falling asleep when a hand holding an apple appeared in her field of vision. She couldn't help but give a small smile as her mind replied a moment she shared with Goku when they were children.
"Thank you." She grabbed the apple and ate a bite of it.
"Are you still angry at me?" Goku sat down beside her.
"I'm not angry. I'm upset."
"I didn't mean to say I only turn to you when Gohan isn't around. I'm sorry if that's how it sounded like. Sometimes… most of the time I'm terrible with words. That shouldn't be surprising to you."
"That's true."
"I know I don't appreciate you enough and I really should." He reached down and grabbed her hand. "But you mean a lot to me. You and Gohan are very important to me and will always be. I may not show it the way you deserve or want, but it's true."
"You show it the way you know." She turned to him. "Did you know you gave me an apple when we were kids? It made me so happy. Is that why you did it just now?"
"No, I'm sorry. I don't remember doing that."
"Oh." She tried to hide the disappointment in her voice. "It's okay. It doesn't matter."
"I'm joking." Goku gave a small laugh. "Of course I remember it. We were by the lake. I can still remember your smile."
"I love you." The words came out from her lips so fast she almost interrupted him. Her eyes went wide and she held his large arm tight. "I'm sorry, it just…"
"I love you too." He said, with a large grin on his lips.
"…slipped." Chi-Chi blinked in confusion, trying to absorb what she had just heard. "What did you say?"
"I love you too."
"Oh Goku!" She threw herself into his arms, pressing her lips against his. She felt his heavily muscled arms embrace her body tight.

Goku immediately opened his eyes when the delicious smell of apple pie filled his nostrils. He looked at his left and saw that Chi-Chi was handing him a plate with a very generous slice of it.
"Thank you." He quickly grabbed it and ate everything in two or three bites. "Can I have another one?"
"Of course." She picked the plate and went to get another large slice, and half of the pie was pretty much gone. After years of living together, she learned not to be shocked or surprised by it anymore. "There you go."
"Thanks, Chi-Chi." And the second slice disappeared as fast as the first one. Goku then stood up and walked into the kitchen, heading to the sink and washing his plate.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm washing it."
"This I know, but you didn't have to."
"It's just a plate, Chi-Chi. I can wash it."
"Alright then." She smiled and then walked to the basket to pick up a few more apples. "Thank you."
"What are you going to do now?"
"I thought about making another pie, since this one is pretty much gone. Gohan likes it too and I want to have a dessert ready for him when he comes back tomorrow."
"That's a good idea. He will love it."
"You can help me with this one, if you want."
"I do."
"Great." Chi-Chi grinned as she put a flour bowl on the sink. "Let's go then."

Five minutes later, she was running outside the house trying to escape Goku for blowing a handful of flour on his face. Before she knew it, he had teleported in front of her and finally had his payback. She was so taken aback that she fell down on her butt.
"Goku, that's not fair or funny."
"It seemed pretty funny when you did that to me."
"I don't have the same energy and strength I used to when we fought each other at the tournament a few years ago. And they definitely are nowhere as close as yours."
"I never understood why you stopped fighting. We could have trained Gohan together."
"I may have allowed you to train him, but I still want him to be a successful scientist." She said firmly and rather annoyed. "Can you please help me stand up?"
"Sure." He got down on one knee and slipped one arm under her knees while his other one wrapped up around her back. When he knew she was steady in his arms, he stood up and teleported to their bedroom.
"When I said if you could help me stand up, this wasn't exactly what I had in mind." Chi-Chi stated as she glanced towards their bed. "You can put me down."
"Alright." Goku walked to the bed and placed her on it.
She seized her opportunity and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling his head down towards him and kissing him passionately. He found himself lying on top of her and didn't mind at all when her hand traveled down his body and slid into his pants. He was enjoying it and getting into it himself, by lifting her top halfway through her chest when the timer of the stove bleeped.
"Damn it." Chi-Chi said frustrated and pushed Goku away, so she could stand up. "I forgot about the pie in the oven."
"Can't you leave it there for just five more minutes?" He let himself fall on the bed, annoyed.
"I think five minutes won't be enough, trust me. I promise I'll be right back. I just need to take that pie out of the oven."
"Okay, but don't take too long."
"I won't. Give me three minutes."

"Your three minutes are over." Goku appeared right behind his wife and startled her.
"Goku, I already asked you not to do this. I'm never prepared for it."
"I'm sorry, Chi-Chi." He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. "I just really missed you up there."
"Goku, I've only been gone for three minutes."
"I know, but I still did." He kissed the curve between her shoulder and neck, causing her to shiver a little with his touch.
"I can't say I'm not happy about it." A smile appeared on her lips as she sprinkled some cinnamon powder over the pie and the turned around to look at him. "I'm done here now."
"Great."
Chi-Chi was completely taken by surprise when he removed his arms from around her just when she was about to jump on him and wrap her legs around his waist. "Goku, what are you doing?"
"This smell of pie got me hungry. Let me just eat another slice." He grabbed the knife and cut himself a big slice.
"There goes the pie."
"There's another slice, if you want."
"I'll save it for later. And you shouldn't talk with your mouth full. It's impolite."
"Sorry."
"Making another one was the best decision. There wouldn't be any pie left for Gohan tomorrow."
"I'm finished over here." Goku swallowed the final bite and went to wash his plate at the sink.
"You can leave there and wash it later."
"Are you sure?" He looked at her over his shoulder and raised his eyebrow.
"I am." She nodded and walked to him. "Do you want to continue from where we stopped?"
"Absolutely." He put the plate into the sink and turned to her, being welcomed by her lips against his right away.
That time, Chi-Chi did what she intended to. She jumped on his arms and intertwined her legs around his body. He wrapped his arms around her and teleported to their bedroom for the second time that night.
"I have to admit your ability to teleport really came in handy this time." She jumped down off him and walked backwards towards their bed, bringing him along. She cupped his face and leaned in for another kiss. She stumbled against the end of the bed and fell down with him above her.
