The Beings
In the continent called Pyrrhia, there have been countless incidents of the supernatural that took place there for hundreds of centuries. From the discovery of Animus Magic, to the birth of the Breath of Evil, many dragons have tried to fully understand how and why these things exist - it is either for the sake of everyone's lives, or the death and destruction of everyone and everything around them. Animus Magic is proven to be good and evil depending on how the person acts, but the Breath of Evil lives up to its name.
There are supernatural elements like these, but what about . . . supernatural beings? Some might say the Animus touched are The Beings, but they are known to the world - a real unearthly creature would be considered to hide from the world. There are beings out there that are far more advanced than any human or dragon's intelligence. Those things are said to have been sighted before The Darkstalker was born. Except, these new forms of life had not been seen ever since - it has been over five thousand years and they had never shown their faces - probably for the best. But there is one dragon who has taken the liberty to finding this strange and unknown society.
His name is Greenland, a dragon born NightWing, who always wore a red bandana around his neck, and was born with an enlarged tail that was considered his greatest defense, and lived in the NightWing Kingdom - a few years before the residents had to move to the RainWing Kingdom.
Greenland was a strange child, always sleeping with a stuffed bear ever since it was given to him, constantly fidgeting with his fingers, never doing very well in school, and hugged his tail whenever he was nervous. Due to this odd behavior, his parents treated him as dirt. He would come home with bad grades, and would be punished for it by his mother, saying he wasn't trying hard enough. He was never a very good listener, and was lashed by his father, saying he would never be like everyone else around him. His parents would send him to his room constantly, and would refuse to give him food or water until he had finished his homework or chores. This went on for many years, Greenland looked thinner than a twig, and would fall everytime he would take a step, and would be punished for his lack of effort.
One night, he woke up to the sound of something falling over. It was so loud it felt like his heart would burst of fear. He listened closely, but no other sound followed. With his stuffed bear held tightly to his chest, he moved his blankets aside and walked out of his room to investigate. As he walked down the stairs he noticed a light coming from the dining room. Hesitantly, he stepped off the last step and made his way to the room. He quietly poked his head around the corner . . . and was greeted with something that would stay glued to his mind for as long as he lived.
Staring right at the little dragonet, were two other dragons. One stood in front of the table, the other stood behind. But these things were not dragons, nor were they scavengers . . . they were something else. They almost looked like twins, but the one in front had a long, nasty scar on his right arm. Their scales were entirely purple; they had no nose; they had six wings similar to a moth; their under scales were beige, and had gray lightning bolt eyes.
The one in front of the table held a syringe in his right hand, but both still stood acknowledging the NightWing. The one with the syringe suddenly took a step towards him, and the little dragonet instantly turned and ran to his parents bedroom. He woke them up, and they were not happy. He told them what he saw, but they did not believe a word he was saying, and his father dragged him back to his room and gave him four lashes.
A few minutes later, Greenland, eyes filled with tears, and blood trickling down his back, quietly walked over to his locked door and peered through the keyhole to see if those things were still in the house. They were. He saw both of them, right outside his door, standing completely and perfectly still. In fear and surprise, Greenland ran back to his bed and hid under the covers. He was too scared to retrieve the bear he had dropped, so he hugged his tail, and cried into the night. Even after the incident, the young dragon was still curious as to what exactly those things were, but even after, he never saw them again.
By the age of seven, he finally left home in the middle of the night - anywhere would be one thousand times greater than where he lived then. But . . . even though he was continuously abused, he never broke, never cracked, and never snapped, and stayed the same odd way he was when he broke free of his egg. His back was marked with multiple scars, but did not acknowledge them.
Greenland made a home for himself near the SkyWing Kingdom, and by the age of thirteen he finally managed to satisfy the hunger that should have been satisfied years ago. On most days he would go on walks or flights three times a day or more. He loved looking out at the scenery, it made him feel happy.
Also, throughout the years Greenland has been living there, he found out the main reason why he acted so oddly and never normal around others, was because he was born with two disorders: Autism, and OCD. Frankly, he didn't mind it at all. It made him himself, and he didn't care if he hugged his tail, or still kept his stuffed bear by his side all the time, it was who he was, and that made him happy.
One morning, Greenland woke up and sat at the table eating breakfast while reading the paper. Most entries made his eyes go wide. Deformed Dragon found in Forest! Student from Jade Mountain Commits Suicide! SeaWing Kingdom Residents found Dead by Unknown Force!
He finished half of his morning meal until one part in the article stated something that immediately caught his interest. The title read: New Species of Dragons Found! Unearthly Beings Sighted in Diamond Spray Delta!
Greenland's eyes widened when he saw a picture of what the witness saw: . . . It was the same creature he saw all those years ago. He didn't think anyone would believe him, but still was intrigued to finding The Beings, never seen again for many years, but now here they were, finally sighted by another. But why now? Why would they come back? Those are some of the questions he needed to answer for himself.
As soon as he finished his breakfast, Greenland packed everything he needed for the trip, and set off to the Diamond Spray Delta, taking the newspaper just in case.
While he flew, Greenland reflected on the questions that ran through his mind: Why would The Beings want to stay hidden? Are they keeping something from the world? What exactly are they? Where did they come from? Are they even dragons? Or most importantly: Why would they reveal themselves to someone five years after he had seen them? Did they know no one would believe what he would say, but because someone else had seen them everyone knows they exist? But of course Greenland told about his experiences to his parents - who obviously didn't believe him - but who would believe him now? All these questions burned in his mind, and was worried, but expected at the same time, that most of them would not be answered.
He stopped by a restaurant on the way, but because of the delay, it was after dark when he reached the Diamond Spray Delta. Greenland didn't matter that it was after curfew, the only thing that mattered to him was finding The Beings, or anything that was even remotely related to them. After a while he grew tired, his backpack weighed heavy on him, his stuffed bear kept slipping out of his arm, and his massive tail dragged along the path. He looked back, and saw that it had made a trail in the dirt and mud. He shook the muck off and continued walking.
Eventually, he came across a river. It gleamed in the moonlight, and Greenland sat down beside it and rested his chin in his hand. Soon his eyelids became droopy, and his energy started to die down from tiredness - sleep would soon take over.
But just as he was about to drift off into sleep, something happened. Greenland couldn't tell if it was real or a dream, but was too tired to be surprised. A white light showed very brightly in the sky high above him, followed by a humming sound coming from the sky. Greenland still couldn't tell if it was a dream or not, but the next thing he knew before he closed his eyes, was that he felt himself being lifted up by some force towards the light.
Greenland woke up two hours later, immediately in a state of shock. He found himself tied to a cold, metal table with tubes in his arms, legs, chest, stomach, nose, and head, and his tail was strapped down along with his wrists, torso, legs, and wings. Whoever kidnapped him did not want him to leave.
He felt weak, but managed to look around. He was in some kind of compound, levels were high above, and a gigantic window was in front of him. But the most frightening thing about it . . . was that he could see his home planet through the window - he recognized the outline of Pyrrhia in the middle of the oceans. The compound was surrounded by blackness, along with millions of stars scattered across the dark sky.
Was he in space!?
He lifted his head and saw someone standing before the gigantic window. The figure stood in front of a large metal table with flashing lights on it. Whoever this was was rummaging through his pack, dumping stuff out of it and examining his stuffed bear.
"H-Hey," Greenland said weakly.
The figure seemed to hear him and immediately stopped what it was doing. It put down the bear and stood up perfectly straight. Then it slowly turned towards him, and his eyes widened when he saw the figure. It was the exact same Being he saw when he was only a dragonet; he knew it was the same one because he recognized the large scar across its right arm.
Its dark thin eyes stared straight at him, and Greenland wished he hadn't spoken. The Being suddenly started walking towards a door without making any noise, and Greenland did not take his eyes off The Being's movements. It reached the door and opened it. There was a moment of hesitation, then all of a sudden four more Beings walked out of the door in a straight line, and they all walked towards the NightWing; his fear growing as they came closer. They all stood around him, motionless and not doing anything, and Greenland could not do anything to escape - what could he do? The first Being knelt down, then stood back up, and Greenland saw that it was holding a syringe. It put its hand on his shoulder, and he started panicking, but the last thing he knew before he passed out was when he felt the syringe in his shoulder blade, and his eyes rolled back into his head.
It was morning. A beam from the sun shot into Greenland's eyes and he moaned and sat up, rubbing his eyes. The events of the previous night suddenly came flying back to him. He hugged his tail and tried to contemplate on what he had witnessed, not before he noticed the large cut along his chest, closed up by stitches. Greenland's fear grew and hugged his tail tighter. What did they do to him? He hoped nothing serious, but grew anxious on the thought as he reflected on it more.
Then something caught his eye. Lying on the floor to his right were all of his stuff. His backpack, food, water, and his stuffed bear were scattered across the ground. Upon the realization, Greenland crawled over to it and hugged his bear tightly. He sat there for a while, then finally calmed himself down and stood up. He thought that maybe a cup of water would calm his nerves.
But before he walked to the kitchen, something else caught his eye: Sitting on a little table was a piece of paper. He grabbed it, and on the paper was some writing, and it made his eyes widen with surprise rather than fear.
It said:
Don't come looking for us
The Beings
This surprised Greenland very greatly. He knew whatever power he was dealing with was far beyond his control, and imagination. It was very clear to him that The Beings do not want him to interfere with whatever they plan on doing, and he knew better to stay out of trouble . . . and it was probably for the best. The only thing he hoped is that whatever The Beings planned on doing was nothing too serious and concerning . . . hopefully. And even though after what he had experienced was frightening, he was still curious as to whether there were more of those creatures out there. Not just The Beings, but others, and was determined to find them all.
