Chapter 2: The World of Animal Crossing
Blake woke up hours later, around three in the afternoon. At least, that was the time where he was at the moment with Mackenzie, Kelsie, and Melissa. When he did wake up, his surroundings were small houses, anthropomorphic animals, and of course, balloons with presents attached to them. Yup, he was in fact in the world of Animal Crossing thanks to the gold Sparkling Glitter that Mark was talking about.
"What in the—" Blake asked himself in confusion.
"What's the matter, Blake?" Mackenzie asked her friend. "...Oh… I guess this is the major problem."
"This IS in fact a big problem…" Kelsie said.
"What seems to be the trouble, party of four?" a voice asked Blake's group. When Blake turned around, all he saw was a raccoon. Tom Nook was the raccoon's name, and Blake was shocked after finding out that he could talk.
"Who are you?" Blake asked. "And what realm are we in?"
"Welcome to the Animal Crossing realm, fellow outsiders." Tom Nook said. "My name is Tom Nook, and I am in charge of this town as well as a young dog named Isabelle."
"How do you know we are outsiders?" Kelsie asked Tom Nook.
"Judging by your looks, you look like outsiders to me. Not ordinary humans we see here every day." Tom Nook said to Kelsie. "Explain your names to me."
"My name is Blake. And these are my twelve-year-old twin sisters, Kelsie and Melissa." Blake said as he introduced himself and his twin sisters to Tom Nook.
"And my name is Mackenzie." Mackenzie said as she introduced herself.
"It's a pleasure to meet all of you." Tom Nook said. "So, what brings you here?"
"It's all Blake's fault, Mr. Nook!" Kelsie exclaimed while pointing at Blake.
"No, she's wrong!" Blake exclaimed while pointing at Kelsie. "It's the fault of my cousin Mark! He warned me about the consequences!"
"QUIET!" exclaimed Tom Nook. "Exactly what consequences are you talking about?" Blake explained about the consequences from his cousin Mark and the incident with the Sparkling Glitter. Then, Isabelle, a dog, showed up to see Tom Nook.
"Oh, Isabelle! Good timing." Tom Nook said. "These four people are Blake, Kelsie, Melissa, and Mackenzie. They just told me that they are trying to get themselves back to their hometown of Wolf City Township."
"What is Wolf City Township?" Isabelle asked.
"From what I heard from this party of four here, it's the place they call home. Mackenzie here told me it's a town that dates back to real-world times!" Tom Nook explained.
"So they are from the real world?" Isabelle asked.
"Yes." Blake said. "My name is Blake Baxter, and I am in charge of this group here."
"But we have to go home for dinner soon, Blake!" Melissa shouted. "Come on! Once and for all!"
"Ah, ah, ah, you get back here." Tom Nook said. Blake and Melissa turned around. Tom Nook later explained that a special method was required for the group to get home. Blake was confused.
"If you ever want to see your home again, Blake, you'll have to assist the town with a few things."
"Why the diddly-squat can't you get someone else to do this stuff?" Melissa asked.
"We unfortunately found out that they all went missing." Isabelle explained to Melissa.
"So you need OUR help to get this town back in shape?" Blake asked.
"Well, it's not only that." Tom Nook said. "We also need your help to find these missing people."
"Then if you really need help, we'll do it!" Blake said. "But what's the reward? Shouldn't there be a reward?" he later asked.
"The reward is a big festival filled with food from our land and culture." Tom Nook said. "We offered this reward to an outside last time, but they never liked any of the food we offered to the group."
"We see." Mackenzie said.
"But I am pretty sure you'll like the foods we have to offer. But remember: You don't get the food until after you find the missing people." Tom Nook said.
"How are we supposed to know who to find?!" Kelsie asked.
"Relax, Kelsie." Tom Nook said. "Isabelle and I have made up a list called the Top 5 Missing People. This is a list of the five missing people that went, well… missing… last month. And it's your job to find out where they are." Blake asked both Tom Nook and Isabelle if they were criminals to the world.
"Obviously not." Isabelle said. "They work for us, but they never showed up for work one day last month."
"I see." Blake said. "Come on, girls. Let's go find the missing people." And so, the girls and Blake Baxter left Tom Nook and Isabelle to their own business. Their adventure was just about to begin.
