(Verilyfranklin, I'm sorry for not acknowledging your review before. It was quite encouraging, and I hope I live up to your anticipations.
Qelah22, I imagine they have gained a variety of skills over the years. I would enjoy eating a breakfast from them as well.)
Chapter 5 - The Costumes
"Roman?" Jack asked as Daniel came out in his costume.
"Greek."
"It looks authentic."
"Anise lent it to me, so it's authentic to the style of Ancient Greece with materials made from a variety of planets. Anise will…" He trailed off as Mark walked in the front door.
"You're early," Jack said.
"Yeah, I got lucky." He grinned as he saw Daniel's costume. "You look great!" He glanced to Jack. "Well, Daniel does."
"My costume is more authentic than his," Jack defended.
"Is everyone changing now?" Mark asked, ignoring the defense.
"Yes," Daniel answered.
Lantash came down in his costume first. He looked so much like a Goa'uld that Jack laughed.
"Jack," Daniel groaned, knowing exactly why he laughed.
"Um, medieval…warrior?" Jack asked as a way of recovering, noticing that he had a few wooden weapons.
"Yes. Does it not look right?"
He laughed because we look like a Goa'uld, Martouf thought.
"It looks…great."
"I am not dressed up as a Goa'uld. I'm an elf, a medieval elf warrior." He pointed to one of the golden ear cuffs that made his ears look pointed.
"No, you don't look at all Goa'uldish."
I knew we should have gone for peasant wear.
I've been a peasant. I am not dressing up as one.
"Did you make the sword?" Jack asked.
"Amb made all the weapons out of wood from his world. Would a Goa'uld have wooden weapons? I look nothing like one."
"You kind of do," Mark admitted.
Lantash groaned, then went back upstairs.
"Mark," Jack sighed.
"I'm sorry, but he does."
"You made him feel bad," Jack said.
"I am not the one who laughed."
"He and Martouf had a minor argument about their costume," Anise said as she came down. "I think you just made Martouf lose the argument."
Daniel smiled as he saw Anise walking down in an Ancient Greek style dress. "You look adorable."
She smiled. "As do you."
"Adorable?"
"In a manly way."
Daniel smiled before kissing her.
More Tok'ra came down in costumes that would cost a few hundred dollars on Earth.
"Wow! You all look great!" Mark exclaimed.
"Thank you," Jacob replied. "Really, Jack? Your costume is your fatigues?"
"No. I'm dressed as an army man. See?" He pointed to where it read 'US Army,' then grinned. "You just wish you thought of it."
"I did," he grumbled. "Selmak didn't go for it, so…" He gestured. "…cowboy."
"Where's the hat?"
"Do you think the Tok'ra have cowboy hats?"
"They don't have plaid or jeans either."
"I skipped the hat."
"You can't be a cowboy without the hat."
"The vest is good enough."
"I have a hat you can borrow," Mark offered.
I want the hat, Selmak thought in a pleading tone.
"Fine, I'll wear the hat."
Lantash returned with a pair of short, iridescent, pointed fairy wings. In spite of his attempt, it just made him look like an extra vain Goa'uld.
"I made the wings. We are wearing the wings," he muttered as he gestured his hands, clearly arguing with Martouf.
Jack suspected that someone must have told Martouf that fairies were feminine.
"It wasn't me," Daniel defended when Jack looked at him.
"I really like the wings," Sam said. "You look very handsome. They kind of remind of your fins."
Lantash smiled.
"Besides…now we both have wings."
"You do match," Jack realized. "Warrior fairies?"
"Why not?" Lantash asked.
"You all did themes. Is Malika…" Jack smiled as he saw that Malika had little cloth wings.
Malek was a warrior elf. As was Aldwin, though like Lantash, he had gone with a fancier style than his mate.
Garshaw was dressed as a medieval noblewoman while her bodyguards dressed as knights.
Jack suspected another couple in the crowd when he saw two dressed as pirates.
"I should change," Mark said as Betty came out as a Jedi.
Teal'c quickly took notice. "You enjoy Star Wars as well."
"Yes."
Mark went in to change as they began discussing the movies. He had multiple costumes that he had kept over the years. After seeing the Tok'ra's costumes, his felt underwhelming. He wondered if the jewelry elf ears were something they actually wore from time to time, or if they had gotten them for Halloween.
"This," he said as he decided on the Fred Flintstone costume. It was the only one that couldn't be compared to what a Tok'ra was wearing.
To be continued…
