A/N: I had a dream where Roman was sort of related to Jasper. So I twisted it a bit to make a fic. They are both badasses and I love them. And I fucking miss them too.

Upir are vampires from the European folklore that can resemble ghouls due their ingestion of flesh and blood. Some even feeding on their own children and other relatives in general.

For an upir to reach their full potential they must die first, much like being reborn.

When an upir is turned into a poisonous vampire their retractable fangs don't disappear and neither does their bloodlust. Which in returns makes them vampires with a particularly big appetite.

Their blood turns black as it "dies" but doesn't disappear as it would happen with humans being turned. This keeps most od their organs from becoming completely useless, some can still function. Their heart for starters. Their heartbeat can be heard if one knows what to look for. Though human machines can't pick it up for it's too slow. Almost non-existent.

Much like their blood flow. It's so slow it can pass as non-existent. No one would be able to pick it up if it doesn't know it's there.

Their stomachs can also digest raw meat of any kind and most liquids. It becomes venom that feeds their blood and keeps it from fading off. Their ability to sleep and their hypnosis doesn't disappear either.

An upir turned poisonous vampire is seen as much of a threat as an immortal child due their unusual quirks and their troubles to keep their bloodlust under control. Plus. Their bites can't turn humans which makes them twice as dangerous. A single mistake could put the vampire secret out to the world.

All it takes is a survivor.

Who would have said there was one among the Cullen themselves.

Jasper was adopted.

As a human his parents had been visiting Europe when they came across him. He was taken in by them and raised in Texas. Little did they know he was one of the few who survived the fate of being born without the "mark" and therefore killed.

His biological mother's name was Olivia Godfrey.

He met Roman in 2013.

Half human half upir.

Same as what he had been as a human.

Even more odd. Same person who had plagued his dreams since the 2000's. Glimpses of a face he couldn't recognize. Of situations he couldn't quite understand. Voices. Names.

He was real.

Roman also recognized him as the person who had been plaguing his dreams ever since he became Upir.

It doesn't take them long to learn the truth behind it.

Roman was struggling with his hunger at this point and Jasper decided to do him a favor and turn him. At least as a vampire he would be able to ignore the hunger for a while once he fed. He could keep him under control with his gift.

As it turns out Roman's upir talent of mind controlling people with his voice became his gift. Just that this time he no longer bled whenever he used it.

Roman had... quite the loud pain.

They write each other from time to time, though not much for Jasper isn't one to write a lot and Roman is half of the time doing God knows what.

No one but Alice, Peter and Charlotte knew about Roman.

Jasper decided to not tell the Cullens about him. Much like he kept most of his life to himself when he first arrived and told them a bit about himself and his past.

It wasn't that he didn't trust them... He just sort of still had troubles seeing them as his family, he didn't quite felt like he belonged among them. His control was poor, still too poor, Roman had once told him it may have to do with the fact that he wasn't 100% human.

And Jasper did believe this theory for Roman had the exact same trouble when it came to human blood, their control was poor. So poor.

Still .

He should have told the Cullens about him. Even if Roman had no interest to meet them.

For some odd reason both of them could feel each other's emotions at times if it was strong enough. Like acid blazing in their chest whenever it was negative or a warm blanket whenever it was positive. Or have glimpses of things that were happening to each other. Like visions but not quite.

Roman had a horrible habit to be almost overbearing when it came to protecting him. It kind of made Jasper wonder at times if that's how Alice felt when he was the one acting overprotective.

But he could understand Roman as well as he understood himself. Losing the last remaining thing that kept you sane... It was a terrifying thing to picture.

In fact.

He felt the same when it came to him.

Roman was his brother. His last connection to a human life.

And he knew he had failed him. Had left him all alone much like Rumancek had done.

So when he felt the acid explode deep within his chest he knew something horrible had happened.Alice was well aware of Jasper's "visions" and Roman's existence. She had even met him a few times. He was... interesting.

For the little amount of time she spent around him he almost felt like a brother. He was so soft talking but much like Jasper there was something dark lurking behind his gaze whenever he thought trouble was coming towards those he cared about.

She never got to see him mad but something told her he would be as lethal as Jasper.

She harboured pain for him though. He had suffered so much.

She had more than once asked Jasper to go to him. Convince him to come here. Isolate himself like he did wasn't good for him. That wasn't life.

But Jasper refused. Something about Roman being too stubborn for his own good.

Alice had wished a lot of times she could bring him here. But even if her presence seemed to brighten him up she knew no one but Jasper had the power to talk him into coming here.

She knew she should have insisted more.

~~~~~~~~~
Jasper was helping Esme with the groceries when he felt it. The explosion of acid that blasted right across his chest like a bomb going off. Ripping to shreds his insides and melting his organs off. His knees hit the ground as his hand went for his chest.
Red flashed in his vision. A howl in the distance. A dark house. Footsteps. Panting. Flesh tearing. Glass exploding. Fire. Acid. So much acid. It was a pain that tore him apart. It ripped his entrails from the inside out. Like the sun blazing red and unforgiving deep within his chest.
More red flashed in his vision. A river of red. A clock. A white wolf. Yellow eyes. Blood splashing on the walls. Running up the walls. Down? Bloodied pawprints. Smoking flesh. A pile of smoking flesh. Screams. The pain intensified making him bend until his forehead was against the ground. It felt like his heart would explode right through his chest. The acid was boiling him. What the hell was this?
It was intoxicating. Suffocating. It strangled him until he was left gasping. Fingers clutching his chest. His head was buzzing. Throbbing. Like a sledgehammer falling down upon his skull over and over again until it crushed his bones to dust.
The air was bitter. Metallic. Humid. Something's wrong . Wrong. A sense of utter heat filled him until it felt like his skin itself was melting off his bones. Such acid. Heat. Rage. Pain. It drove him insane.
"J... take her with you."
White wolf.
Red.
Cold. So cold.
A fog began creeping up at the back of his head. Submerging him under water as the world slowed down. The glimpses of a dark house blurring. Dropping like a smudged picture of paint that's been splashed with water. Merging into a mess of blurred colors. The noise from the streets became distorted. Or was it from the present? He couldn't tell.
Someone was talking again. He knew that. But he couldn't grasp the words. It was like water slipping through his fingers. Too far. Numb. Floating inside his own mind.
Strong hands grabbed his arms. Carlisle's face was infront of him. His lips were moving but he couldn't grasp the words. Couldn't grasp it. The words fell and sank into the fog that was filling his head. Fingers snapped infront of him but the world was slow. Muffled. Far from his reach.
The words kept distorting. Slipping through his fingers like water. But the words kept coming and going. Sinking. Going down down down down the sinkhole. It was like watching a movie in slow motion from underwater.
-Jasper!- The world came rushing back in as if breaking out of the water and he flinched back. For a moment his mind going blank. But he felt too exhausted to even attempt to move. A little voice at the back of his head assuring him he wasn't in danger.
And against his better judgement he ended up collapsing against the person. The arms were strong. Firm. The smell familiar. Generally he would avoid physical contact with anyone that wasn't Alice but right now he couldn't bring himself to care.
He was tired. Too tired to focus.
He felt unbalanced. Unfocused. Lost. Odd. Weird. Wrong . What the hell had been that? White wolf. White wolf. Where had he heard about that? He couldn't remember.
What he did knew was that something had happened.
Something horrible.
~~~~~~~~

The Cullens knew about Jasper's gift. It was basic knowledge that he could read people's emotions and influence/manipulate them. Even if he used his gift little to none it was there. The knowledge was there.

But none of them had ever wondered about the true extent of his gift. What he could do if he put his mind to it.

Thinking better of it his gift was as dangerous as it was powerful. The ability to control someone's emotional state.

But none of them expected to find out about the true extent of his gift through that sudden wave of asphyxiating pain, it obliterated the air with the force of a tsunami, crushing and unforving, destroying everything in its path until there was nothing but pain, agony, despair, fear, rage.

It was thick. Overwhelming. Unexpected .

He had been fine. And then he hadn't.

Edward saw it. He wasn't quite sure what was he seeing but he saw it. So similar to Alice's gift but so much more blurred. Glitching. Wrong . Like watching TV without glasses. Underwater.

His gift got to each and every single corner of the house, mercilessly poisoning those it reached.

Esme who had been the closest to him had tried and failed to get his attention. Even if she had no idea what was causing such pain to her son. Because he had been fine.

Carlisle was the one who managed to break out of the agonizing fog and reach the garage. All in order to find Jasper on the ground clutching his chest and gasping for air. Carlisle's first instinct is to grab him but there's no recognition in Jasper's face.

His eyes are completely glazed.

He would expect that from Alice given her gift.

But Jasper certainly couldn't see the future like his wife.

In fact.

If he didn't knew better he would dare and say he was having an absent seizure.

But Jasper was a vampire. Vampires couldn't have seizures for the single fact that their brains didn't had what it needed to provoke a seizure in the first place. His gift is piercing. Unforgiving. It threatens to send Carlisle back into a fog of acid and fire.

And he wonders how did he ever thought Jasper's gift to be the most harmless of his three children's.

Carlisle tries and fails at catching his attention. It's like his words aren't registering.

And in a moment of flat out desperation he shakes him.

-Jasper!

To his surprise that seemed to be enough to snap him back to reality, his gift's influence disappearing off the air like a whiplash that make his gut twist with a nauseous feeling. It was over .

Sort of.

Jasper flinched back but just as quick he was crumbling against Carlisle, almost as if any strength he had ever had had completely left him.

Carlisle grabbed him on reflex. Arms keeping a firm hold on him.

It took him a moment to realize something. This was the first time ever he had Jasper so close. The first time he touched him.

And while that wouldn't be something to think too much about at such moment he couldn't help but notice something.

He didn't felt as cold as a vampire should.

In fact.

He felt almost warm. He rested his hand on the back of his neck to make sure he wasn't imagining things but he wasn't.

His skin was warm. Kind of. More like lukewarm.

But he didn't got to feel his skin for longer because soon Jasper was pushing him away, stumbling as he got up.

-Jasper-

-I'm fine.- He cut off dryly.

In a blink there was Alice at his side grabbing his arm.

-He's fine.- She told as a statement of fact before leading him out of the garage.

Carlisle watched them leave with narrowed eyes, there was something going on.

And now more than ever that feeling on his gut that those two were hiding something flared up.

Ever since Jasper and Alice arrived Carlisle hadn't been able to shake the feeling that there was more to the couple than they gave away. That there was something they weren't telling them.

He had ignored it due the fact that it didn't seem to be harmful but now he wasn't so sure if he had done right by ignoring it.

What just happened...

Something was wrong.

And something told Carlisle their peace was about to come to an end.
