A/N: I couldn't bring myself to refer to Peter as a werewolf, the transformation is just beautiful but I can't take as a werewolf a fucking husky. I compare him more to a wolfblood since they also turn during full moon and look like regular wolves while also keeping most of their human conscience.

-You sure about that?- Carlisle questioned looking at Edward. Jasper and Alice were still upstairs. Renesmee was staying with Charlie for the weekend so he didn't had to worry about her being here right now.

Because what Edward just told him...

It couldn't be possible. A vampire couldn't have more than one gift.

-I know what I saw. It was blurred but I saw it. That looked just like when Alice has visions.- Edward felt as confused as Carlisle looked. Because how was it possible that Jasper had had a vision? That was Alice's gift not his.

-What was in the vision?- Bella asked half curious half confused. As far as she knew vampires couldn't share their gifts with each other right? Her question seemed to catch everyone's attention. Edward frowned.

-It were glimpses. There was a white wolf. A dark house. The sound of flesh tearing. Glass exploding. Blood running down the walls. So much more blood. A pile of smoking flesh. And someone said something about "taking" her.

-A shapeshifter?- Emmett frowned. Edward shook his head.

-I don't think so. It looked like a regular wolf, though his eyes were yellow.

That made Carlisle narrow his eyes, that almost sounded...

-You said a pile of smoking flesh?

-Yes. What does that mean?- Edward asked as he noticed Carlisle's sudden tense shoulders.

-Vargulf.

Bella was the only one whose face didn't dawn with realization.

-What's that?

-It's sort of a shapeshifter but not quite. They transform during the full moon but they aren't werewolves, they shed their human flesh quite literally and turn into wolves.- Edward explained vaguely.

-They are called wolfbloods, they can only transform during full moon and as humans have no defining characteristic whatsoever that they may be related to the supernatural. But there are cases when they transform during the wrong moon, that leads to them losing themselves, it's the price to pay. They eventually must be killed for they begin killing everyone on sight. Much like a rabid animal, just that this one still keeps some of its intelligence.- Carlisle explained easily.

-And Jasper knows one?

That was a question none of the Cullens could answer. Jasper was still up to this day an enigma, he was the second oldest vampire in the house, he was alone for years before even meeting Alice, he could have very well met a wolfblood during that time.

Wolfbloods unlike shapeshifters and werewolves didn't had a grudge against poisonous vampires but Upir.

He could have befriended one.

One who wasn't a vargulf at the time.

But that didn't explain the vision.

Didn't explain the agonizing feeling in the air.

The sudden sound of a door opening upstairs caught their attention. Jasper didn't even spare them a glance as he left through the door.

Alice soon appeared but she didn't follow after him. She looked like stress and grief incarnated and like she wanted nothing more but to go after him.

But she didn't.

Instead she threw them a look.

-We need to talk.- Even if she said that she looked as if she dreaded the sole idea of it.

-About what? About how he had visions of a future?- Rosalie questioned dryly with her arms crossed over her chest. She felt stung, Jasper was her twin for a reason, they were closer to each other than with anyone else of the family, Emmett and Alice excluded.

She knew more about him than the rest of the family put together, the idea that he had hid something so important as that of him being able to have visions of the future...

-That wasn't a vision of the future. It was the present. He was seeing through someone else's eyes. Kind of. It's hard to explain. It happens sometimes, much like it happens to the other person.- Alice told. Even if Jasper told her he didn't care what she told the Cullens right now as long as she warned them about what he would return with she still didn't felt comfortable about it.

Most of it had to do with the fact that she couldn't see their reaction about Jasper being one of those . She knew the Cullens loved him despite his past and... emotional issues. But this was different.

This was something that were the Volturi to find out about it a lot of trouble could be unleashed.

Even more so considering that issue.

Even if she had known it would happen seeing how things had been going on it still hurt.

She wished she had done more to stop it.

But who was she kidding? No one could make Roman Godfrey change his mind when he decided something.

-Who is the other person?- Esme asked. The sudden idea that some stranger had been watching them at random intervals not comforting at all.

Alice sighed sadly before coming to sit on the armchair beside Bella.

-His name is, was Roman. He's... you shouldn't worry about anything, he was perfectly trustworthy. He lived in Hemlock Grove. He's... Jasper turned him a few months ago.

As expected silence was her answer.

Hemlock Grove.

A few months ago.

It didn't took a genius to know when was that.

After the near fight with the Volturi Jasper and Alice had taken some time away from Forks, they went to Hemlock Grove and stayed there for three months.

-Alice-

-Before you start making assumptions let me tell you that it was a premeditated thing. Roman chose it, he knew he had no other option if he wanted to keep what was left of his humanity. It was the best option at that point.- She explained. She didn't want to tell them.

But stalling couldn't last forever.

Not when Jasper was directly affected with this.

When he wouldn't be returning alone.

-He was half upir. He was alone and he could no longer control his hunger as well as he used to. He was... He hated what he was. His relationship with his mother was bad and he never knew what he was until it was too late. She tricked him into killing himself a few months before Jasper met him and when he awoke... He tried so hard to keep himself away from everything, he fed off leeches, even killed his own horse, but there was nothing he could do to stop it. It grew and grew with each passing day.

Silence.

It was no secret what an upir was and what happened when it was turned into a poisonous vampire.

The consequences to their creators...

-Alice... You do realize that what he did-

-He did nothing wrong. You know why? Because Jasper was also half upir when he was human. That means he's also an hybrid, hence, he's done nothing wrong.- She cut off bluntly before she could back off.

Carlisle opened his mouth but closed it right away.

That...

What?

But thinking better of it... It would explain Jasper's poor control over his thirst despite how long he had been feeding off animals. How long he had spent being exposed to humans.

Would explain how despite his appearance he could beat newborns with such ease.

Wait.

-You said so yourself, he turned someone, an upir turned poisonous can't turn with their bites.- Rosalie said suddenly, refusing to believe Alice's words.

-They can, if they make others feed from their blood. As long as the one that feeds has blood in their system they can be infected.- Alice told remembering Jasper's words.

The Cullens weren't sure how to react to her words.

An upir turned poisonous...

All of Jasper's slips. His poor control over his thirst.

In a sense an upir turned poisonous wasn't against the law. Creating them was what was against the law which none of them had done. Maria did.

And despite his slips there had never been a survivor. Jasper hunted more than the rest did in a week but he had never put at risk their secret.

There was a chance the Volturi wouldn't see him as a threat.

But the other one...

-Roman is gone now. But in life he was good. He tried with each fiber in his being to be nothing like his mother.- Alice was quite proud at her neutral tone. When Jasper told her what had happened... She had wanted to go with him but he had refused.

Right now she had to spill the beans to the Cullens. There was a high chance for Nadia to be alive if Roman's last words were something to go for.

Finding her before some random human was of utter importance.

-How does that connect him to Jasper for them to see through each other's eyes?- Bella asked, she had read about the upir, and part of her to be honest found them quite fascinating.

Alice didn't answer for a moment.

-You know how Upir have a similar longevity to that of vampires?- Her question got everyone frowning in confusion.

-What does that have to do with anything?

-Roman's mother was born around the 1820's. He was born in 1996. Before him there were hundreds of babies who were born without the "mark". A sort of caul made out of flesh, that meant the baby would have high probabilities of becoming an upir. She killed most of them, only two survived but were abandoned. One of them was a girl named Annie and the other one was a boy... that boy was Jasper.

Esme's hand went to her mouth and she looked beyond horrified. Alice could understand her, when she first heard from Roman about Olivia...

It had made her sick. Even now she had a hard time believing someone so vile had lived let alone birthed such kind hearted people like Roman, Jasper, Shelley and Annie.

-So Roman is Jasper's biological brother?- Bella asked after a moment.

-Yes. Jasper was born in 1844 and Roman in 1996 so I would say Jazz's around 151 years older than him.

-Did Jasper saw him die?- Esme asked feeling both mortified and horrified for her son.

-He felt it too. Their visions... they happen at random intervals, mostly when either of them is in danger. There's also the emotional issue, kind of, they can in a sense feel each other's emotions regardless of the distance. Jasper once told me that the negative ones feel like acid is spreading inside his chest though it may vary depending on how intense they are, Roman said the positive ones feel warm, it can also vary depending on how intense they are.

-So that means...

-He literally felt it happen. In a sense as if it was happening to him.

-The vargulf killed him?- Emmett questioned speaking for the first time. Fingers curled into fists. Jaw tight.

-We knew it was going to happen.- Alice confessed with a distant look.- With how things had been going on between them... Peter and Roman were friends. But Peter's judgement had been decreasing a lot lately, and Roman refused to kill him before it was too late as Jasper told him to. He was awfully stubborn. At the end they killed each other.

Roman had had such a terrible hero complex. Peter was no longer the Peter he once knew. That was nothing but a mindless beast who wouldn't hesitate to harm those who Peter once loved and cared about.

Now Nadia had been left alone. No mother. No father. If the idiot had just listened.

-Is Jasper alright?- Carlisle asked this time. Jasper did leave without a word.

-He's fine... He just went for Nadia.

-Nadia?- Esme repeated.

-Roman's daughter.

-He's got a daughter?

-Her origin is complicated, but yes, she's his biological daughter, she will be turning a year soon, smart for her age, kind of like Renesmee in that aspect.

Silence reigned for a while.

The idea of a child soon arriving didn't sound as exciting when the reason behind was so... not something to celebrate.

-Why did Jasper never mention him?- Rosalie asked suddenly.

-He didn't think it was important. Plus Roman didn't really want to meet you. He said he found it strange but I think he was just scared. He was amazing at avoiding stuff.

Silence reigned for another while after that. Alice kept attempting and failing at catching a glimpse of Jasper. Seeking visions of him was still like attempting to grasp at strings in the dark. Glitches. Like static but not quite. It irritated her.

-You have a picture of him?- Emmett wondered suddenly.

-No, but you can look him up on the internet, he used to be the CEO of a genetics company so I'm pretty sure that's on the internet; Roman Godfrey.

Emmett didn't waste time to do as suggested. He was curious to know how a biological brother from Jasper looked like and he needed something to distract himself with.

-It says here that company went bankrupt recently.

-Yeah... A lot of stuff happened.- Alice told as an explanation.

-He doesn't look like Jasper at all.- Emmett blurted out the moment he found the picture. Rosalie and Esme peeking from both sides to get a look of the screen.

Emmett was right. The person on the picture didn't look like Jasper at all.

He looked quite attractive and maybe a bit too tall, was fairly well-built. His skin was pale, brown hair styled fashionably, and his eyes were an odd shade of hazel but not quite. A few tiny scars littering his face.

-Jasper actually used to have brown hair as a human and his eyes were hazel, so I would say they do share some similarities. Even so, it would make sense for them to not look much alike, they don't share the same father, plus, Roman kind of took after his mother. He hated that comparison.

-Wouldn't surprise me. She looks like a bitch.- Rosalie stated as she caught sight of a picture of one Olivia Godfrey, Roman stood at her side more like a perfect decoration than a son. His eyes cold. That kind of look did make him resemble Jasper.

-She was.- Alice agreed without missing a beat.

Olivia Godfrey had.

Without a doubt.

Been a bitch.

-She's dead?- Esme questioned half curious half relieved to know such monster wasn't roaming around.

-Last week. Complications with her upir status.

-Last week?- Rosalie questioned.- Did Jasper-

-He did meet her. Only once though and that because Annie talked him into it despite Roman's warnings against it.- Alice's words got a few raised eyebrows.

-She's alive too?- Carlisle wasn't sure how to feel about the idea of Jasper having actual living biological family. That... had never happened before. Most vampires didn't keep their biological family for obvious reasons.

-Was. Olivia pushed her to kill herself. There's a sickness going around upir that makes them kill each other and themselves. Olivia wanted a new healthy body, a scientist of her was meant to do the procedure but for it to be successful she needed a perfect genetic match, Shelley managed to leave Hemlock Grove before she could get her hands on her, Roman was too strong for her to subdue him and Jasper was too far away so she went for Annie. The scientist tried to save her by locking her in an odd room but he didn't make it in time. Olivia would have killed him so Annie chose to kill herself instead by setting an explosion off in the room she was locked in.

Silence.

And more silence.

How?

How did a woman that vile had actually been alive?

Given birth to someone like Jasper?

The idea of her being so desperate to keep herself alive that she hadn't cared to kill her own children in the act was almost disturbing. It made Esme's venom boil.

Even more so the idea of that woman having considered the idea of coming after Jasper. Jasper was her son. Had that woman dared to put foot here Esme wouldn't have had any qualms on tearing her to pieces. No one touched her children.

-You said Shelley left, does that mean she's still alive?- Edward asked suddenly, needing to diverge the previous conversation out of the way before he got sick.

-She is. But she isn't... her upir side is still dormant and I'm not sure she ever realized what her mother or brother were. She left with her boyfriend, she wanted to see the world now that she was free from her mother's claws.

God knows she deserved all the happiness in the world. It saddened Alice that she wouldn't be able to see her again but as Jasper said. The best for her is to live a human life with nothing connecting her to the supernatural. She would be fine for she had by her side someone who truly loved her.

She would be fine.

~~~~~~~
Jasper had known that Roman would get himself killed since the moment he met him. Reason he refused to get attached.
But that didn't stop the pain from echoing loud in his soul.
He had found Nadia locked in one of Roman's special rooms.
The baby had been quiet ever since he got to her. Her little arms around his neck and her face hidden against the crook of his neck. She had looked at him like she knew what had happened to the other two adults in her life.
But even then he had felt the need to tell her that her father wasn't coming back. Neither was Peter. Nor Annie. But it was alright. He would take care of her. She wasn't alone. She still had a family.
Jasper wasn't good with kids for he didn't felt comfortable around them. Children were... too much. Their emotions too intense and at times overwhelming.
But Nadia needed him. He had made a promise even before this happened.
He had sworn to Roman that Nadia would never be alone in the world. She had a family with him.
Even so. Nadia's emotions weren't overwhelming.
Her sadness wasn't like rattling shockwaves of an earthquake threatening to snatch him into an asphyxiating hold.
It was... intense. But not as intense as a child's, it was strange.
He held her with one arm while he grabbed whatever clothes he could for her. Shoving it all in a suitcase and a few bags he had found laying around.
He also grabbed a stuffed black wolf that laid on her bed which she took from him and also snatched a few shirts from Roman. If there was one thing he had learnt from Renesmee was that children liked to grab clothes from their parents when they missed them.
He could use his gift to comfort her but he had never been a fan of messing with children's emotions. It felt wrong. Like he was messing his emotions that were being discovered. He needed to let them learn how to control their own emotions. A child needed to learn to control their own emotions.
Thus he didn't touch her sadness.
-You remember Renesmee?- He found himself speaking.- The girl Alice showed you pictures of? I'm sure she'll love havin' you 'round. God knows that girl needs some friends that are actual children.
Nadia didn't answer of course. She didn't speak much to begin with but considering children her age shouldn't even be able to speak so well yet he tagged it as normal.
After he put the bags and suitcase in the car and snatched the picture from the living room of Roman and Shelley he patted Nadia's back gently.
-You want to take something else?
A soft shake of the head was his answer.
Putting Nadia in the passenger seat was a total feat for she refused to let him go. She gave in eventually. Kind of. Because she got to the floor of the car and grabbed his shirt.
He let her be.
