When Obi-Wan comes to, he finds himself in a rather odd position. Someone seems to be carrying him slung over their shoulder, and his nose is bumping against their armor-clad chest with each step the person takes. His face is much too close to make out the pattern on the armor of whoever was carrying him, instead appearing as a blur of yellow and white. Someone of the 212th, at least.

The jolting isn't doing anything to help his splitting headache, though he's more concerned by the fact that he isn't aware of what might have caused said headache than for the pain itself. His mind feels hazy, and there was something nagging at the back of his mind that he can't quite put his finger on.

He tries to raise his head, squinting his eyes against the bright light of their surroundings, and, oh, perhaps the blur had less to do with being too close to the armor than he thought, unless they truly were walking through some vortex of blended grays and vague edges.

Well, at least nothing else seems to be moving.

"Where are we?" Obi-Wan asks, twisting slightly in the other person's grasp.

"Quiet," the man snarls, shoving Obi-Wan's head down roughly. Cody, Obi-Wan thought, that voice belonged to Cody.

But what was going on? Why was Cody…? Obi-Wan's head hurt more as he tried to find an explanation. Had they been attacked? There were no alarms sounding, but perhaps they had malfunctioned? He hadn't seen anyone pass the, by so far, but he wasn't entirely sure that they were still even on the Negotiator, let alone where they were on it.

Had he been hurt? The throbbing in his head seemed centered around a particular area, but the last thing he remembered was preparing a cup of tea in his quarters as he and Cody went over plans for the coming days. Had there been some sort of accident? Obi-Wan couldn't think of any particular hazards in his room, not that he could think of much at all at the moment, but perhaps something had occurred and Cody was taking him to medbay.

But then that didn't explain why Cody was insisting so harshly on silence, or why… Obi-Wan lost his train of thought. Oh, his head hurt too much to think straight.

He closes his eyes, laying his head against Cody's chestplate and angling it so that his nose isn't in danger of being broken. Whatever is going on, he trusts Cody to keep them both safe.

When Obi-Wan comes to next, he's no longer slung over Cody's shoulder, but instead buckled into a seat on one of the smaller runabouts. He glances to the side; Cody is piloting the ship, sitting stiffly in his seat and moving the controls with an almost robotic economy of movement. Cody's expression is hidden by his helmet, but his head is fixed forward, never straying from the space in front of him.

Obi-Wan shifts, risking a glance around the ship. It's empty aside from them, the other seats folded down into their stowed positions. All of the standard supplies are loaded onto their racks and properly secured, aside from a single blaster laying haphazardly in a corner, seemingly having been tossed to the floor as an afterthought. Obi-Wan has never seen Cody treat a weapon so recklessly before; it was… concerning, to say the least, especially since Obi-Wan had been present for more than one of Cody's reminders to the men about proper care and storage of their blasters.

Something was very off here. He turns back towards the front of the ship, hoping for some sign of what was going on.

The blur from earlier has cleared slightly, but not enough for him to be able to read any of the data on the ship's screens. What he can see, though, that he had somehow missed earlier, is his lightsaber, hooked to the side of Cody's armor. That in and of itself wasn't particularly unusual- the hook is there for a reason, after all- but Obi-Wan has no memory of losing his lightsaber. In fact, he's reasonably certain that it should still be in his room, not on this ship.

Wait, why is he on this ship, again? And why are they alone?

"Are we going undercover?" Obi-Wan asks, looking down at himself. His robe is missing, as are his boots.

Cody jolts, insofar as is possible to do while in full armor and strapped to a piloting seat, before stiffening again.

"Yes," Cody says, after a pause. "Undercover." Cody's voice is off, containing a strange, harsh edge that Obi-Wan had never heard from the Commander before. And Obi-Wan had heard Cody's voice in quite a variety of different situations.

Obi-Wan probably should be more concerned by the fact that he can't remember any briefing or orders for this mission, but Cody doesn't seem concerned by his questions, so perhaps it's not as bad as it seems. Except…

"What are we undercover as?" It wouldn't do for him to blow their cover by failing to pretend to be whatever it was he was supposed to be.

"You're a Sith," Cody says, voice relaxing ever-so-slightly even as Obi-Wan sits up straighter in shock. "The Chancellor has ordered all Jedi executed for corruption and treason; as such you have defected from the Jedi Order, and are not to break cover at any time until the situation is resolved."

Obi-Wan blinks. He can't believe that the rest of the Jedi had committed treason! And he hadn't even suspected anything was amiss, let alone something of this magnitude! He puts his head in his hands, wondering how he could have been so blind.

"But what of Anakin? And Ahsoka?" Surely they must be innocent! And neither of them had been able to keep a secret from him yet, nevermind what Anakin thought regarding his 'secret' marriage to Padme. There was no way either of them could be involved in something so terrible. But then, he'd have never thought it possible for any of the others, either. This had to be some mistake.

But what if it isn't?

Oh dear.

"Ahsoka is innocent; only the Jedi are guilty of treason, neither Padawans nor Initiates will be held accountable for the actions of those above them." Cody's voice is firm, and Obi-Wan lets out a breath at the knowledge that Ahsoka and the other children aren't in danger. Small mercy, considering the rest of the situation.

"And Anakin?" Obi-Wan's heart feels tight; his former Padawan was now a knight in his own right, and Obi-Wan can't bear the thought of Anakin being executed for a crime that Obi-Wan knows Anakin would never commit.

"Anakin is not a Jedi," Cody says, tension creeping back into his voice, "Anakin has violated a number of the Order's rules by having an affair with Senator Amidala, and cannot be considered a Jedi under the Order's own rules."

That didn't seem right. Obi-Wan himself had been carrying on a relationship with Cody for some time now, and Cody had certainly never voiced any sort of doubt regarding Obi-Wan's commitment to the Jedi, or his status as such.

"But I am-"

"A Sith," Cody cuts in sharply, turning to face Obi-Wan for the first time since he had awoken. Right, deep cover, that meant acting as if they were being spied on at all times.

Why were they undercover again?

Oh, right, the treason. The-

Obi-Wan slumps in his seat. "Cody, how could I have been so blind?" How could he have not seen what had been going on around him? Every Jedi, every one, people who he considered friends, even family, had all decided to betray the Republic. "Why would they do this?" It was all too much to process, and the more he tried to figure it out, the worse the pain in his head seemed to get.

"That's a question only they could answer," Cody says, nodding to the ship's communication module.

"Won't that alert them to the fact that they've been found out?" Or had they done something public that revealed their betrayal to the Chancellor? Obi-Wan wasn't sure what was worse.

"Call the council," Cody says, seemingly through gritted teeth. Was Cody upset with him? Or just with the situation they were in? Obi-Wan can certainly understand the latter- he feels quite off-balance as well.

"Remember that they are not your council any longer," Cody adds, as Obi-Wan reaches out to activate the module.

Ah, right. Sith defector. That would take some time to remember. Although…

Obi-Wan hesitates, and then pulls back from the module without activating it. Instead, he loosens his seatbelt, and leans over to press a kiss to the side of Cody's helmet. If he was to act as a Sith, he was going to enjoy whatever benefits of the act that he could.

Cody jumps in place, nearly smacking the edge of his helmet into Obi-Wan's face as he whips his head to look at Obi-Wan again.

Obi-Wan smirks, attempting to meet Cody's eyes through the helmet. "I'm a Sith, now, remember." Obi-Wan isn't actually aware of any Sith stance on sleeping with one's second in command- not that he expects that they have any official policy on the subject- but he very much doubted that they had any particular concern for appearance of impropriety in the workplace.

Cody slips off his helmet, and stares at Obi-Wan with an unreadable expression on his face.

Then Cody leans in, pressing his lips against Obi-Wan's in a chaste kiss that Obi-Wan is more than happy to return.

After a moment, Cody breaks the kiss, pulling back only far enough to lean their foreheads together.

"Call the council," Cody says, voice soft enough that Obi-Wan wouldn't have heard him from any further away. "I love you, Obi-Wan. Whatever happens, remember that, please."

"Cody, what-" Obi-Wan gets no further before Cody kisses him again, this time far less gentle than the last. As strange as the situation was, Obi-Wan can't find it in himself to object, at least until Cody reaches up to run a hand through Obi-Wan's hair, gloved fingers tugging slightly at the strands.

"Ow," Obi-Wan says, pulling away and bringing his own hand up to very gently smooth his hair back into place. "Did I hit my head?" Now that he thought about it, it did feel like there was a bit of swelling under the hair he was fixing.

Cody's eyes go wide, and his hand darts into one of the pouches on his belt.

"Here," Cody says, pulling out a bacta patch and handing it to Obi-Wan. "Sorry."

"Not your fault," Obi-Wan says, taking the patch and sticking it to the source of the pain.

Cody looks oddly guilty at that proclamation, but Obi-Wan knows that Cody hadn't meant to hurt him by touching his hair. How had Obi-Wan hurt his head, though? He really would have to figure that out at some point.

The moment broken, Obi-Wan turns back to the ship's communicator, as Cody slips his helmet on beside him.

Obi-Wan takes a steadying breath, releases his worries into the force, and punches in the code for the Jedi council. Time to find out what's really going on.

Nothing happens. Not in the sense that nobody answers the call, but that the call cannot be made in the first place.

Obi-Wan enters the code again, assuming that he had somehow mis-dialed it, but still the call fails to connect to the council room.

The council must know that they've been found out. Obi-Wan still isn't sure how contacting the council will help the situation, especially if the news of the Chancellor's judgement has already spread, but Cody had seemed insistent. Obi-Wan enters the code for Mace's personal comm next.

The call connects almost immediately, but it's not Mace who picks up on the other end.

"Commander Fox," Obi-Wan says, not managing to keep the surprise out of his voice, "I was looking for Master Windu."

"Master Windu isn't available at the moment," Fox says in a flat monotone, and Obi-Wan's blood runs cold at the feeling of Darkness that suddenly floods his awareness of the Force.

Something has gone very, very wrong, in a very big way.

Obi-Wan can only hope that whatever it is can be fixed, and that they're not too late.
