After Fox hangs up the call, Cody pilots them to the Temple a fair bit faster than is particularly advisable, though he does it in a far less wild manner than Obi-Wan has seen in his time being a passenger to Anakin's flying stunts. As they approach Coruscant, the force feels more and more clouded with darkness, becoming so overbearing as they land that Obi-Wan can barely shield it out.

Obi-Wan isn't certain whether Commander Fox is waiting for them specifically, but nonetheless Fox is already in the hangar when they land, flanked by a man who looked a lot like Mace Windu, if Master Windu had had reason to replace his robes with what appeared to be a green flight suit and carry a pitchfork from the gardens.

Obi-Wan blinks, contemplating for a moment that he has possibly hit his head harder than previously thought, and turns to Cody before looking back to the viewport, but the scene in front of him doesn't change. Generally Obi-Wan wouldn't question what punishments Commander Fox deems suitable for treason, but mandatory gardening is certainly a novel one.

Perhaps Mace is also undercover. It would be a great relief to know that not everyone had been involved in the treason that Palpatine had uncovered.

"What-" Obi-Wan starts to ask, but Cody cuts him off.

"Stay here unless I say otherwise," Cody says, unstrapping himself from the pilot's seat.

Obi-Wan is tempted to object, but he's also not entirely sure that he could stand without being sick at the moment, so he does as Cody says and remains seated as Cody walks towards the back of the ship. Fox and maybe-Windu are still standing in front of the ship, discussing something that Obi-Wan cannot hear.

Cody doesn't leave as Obi-Wan had expected, however; instead, Cody comes back to the front of the ship a moment later, and sets his discarded blaster in Obi-Wan's lap. Obi-Wan's hands wrap around it instantly, checking the safety and the charge by rote. It's not often he has a blaster in his hands these days, but there's some things one doesn't forget, even through the haze of what Obi-Wan suspects is a rather serious concussion. Said concussion also does nothing to dull the warmth that he feels at the trust Cody has in him to leave the blaster in Obi-Wan's care.

It's a feeling Obi-Wan is more familiar with from the other side of things; Obi-Wan's lightsaber frequently finds itself in Cody's care, hanging from the side of his armor just as it is now, and Obi-Wan can honestly say that there's no one else who he'd trust with it more.

Once he's checked over the blaster, Obi-Wan looks up at Cody, and Cody takes his helmet off to look back at him. As they lock eyes, the air seems to tense around them, thick with concern and uncertainty. There's so many things that Obi-Wan wants to say, wants Cody to say, but instead they both remain silent for a time that feels far longer than it must actually be. They haven't needed words to know the others feelings in a very long time, and to voice them now would feel too much like tempting fate.

Finally, Cody looks away, swallowing visibly before placing his helmet back over his head and turning towards the door.

Obi-Wan would very much like to follow as he watched Cody lower the ramp to disembark, but Cody had instructed him to stay, and he had to trust that Cody knew more of the situation than Obi-Wan could currently remember.

Still, if he perhaps felt a bit of apprehension, watching Cody walk towards whatever Fox had in store for them, well, a bit of fear could only help sell his cover as a Sith.

…..

Obiwanisasithobiwanisasithobiwanisa-

Cody's internal refrain was cut off by the surprise of Fox stepping in front of the farmer and raising a blaster.

Cody raised his hands up halfway, high enough to show that he was unarmed but still low enough that he would be ready to fight if needed.

"Where is the Jedi?" Fox asked, voice hard.

"I have no Jedi," Cody answered, ignoring the blaster pointed at his neck and focusing his thoughts on his precious Sith waiting for him on the ship. His Sith, whom he had personally witnessed carry out a number of actions that would have been direct violations of the Jedi code, had his Sith not been, of course, a Sith. Cody's personal favorite violation-but-not-really-because-Sith of the Jedi code was one he wasn't certain that Obi-Wan even remembered, given that the Sith had been made to take some very strong painkillers after a particularly bad injury, but Cody would never forget; they'd been laying together in Obi-Wan's bed after the Sith had insisted on being released from Medical, when Obi-Wan had suddenly turned to him, asked Cody to marry him, and pitched forward asleep into Cody's chest before Cody could even open his mouth to answer.

"Then who is that?" Fox asked, inclining his head towards the cockpit of the ship, where Obi-Wan was partially visible through the viewport.

"Obi-Wan is a Sith," Cody explained, "He hasn't been a Jedi in-" Cody paused for a moment to consider at what point their relationship had firmly become an attachment- "at least two years," Cody said, thinking back to the words his Sith had said after one particularly close call. 'I couldn't bear to lose you,' Obi-Wan had said, pulling Cody into a tight hug after Cody had been rescued from the cave-in, 'I can't do this without you.' Cody had tried to deflect, to insist that he was just one man in the war effort, but Obi-Wan hadn't let him, had just kissed him and held him even tighter. "I could provide evidence, but most of it is the sort that you would find unpleasant to hear."

Fox's mouth twisted. Clearly, he understood what Cody was implying. "I accept your word as evidence," Fox said, lowering his blaster. "For the sake of my sanity, no details are required at this time. We have other matters to discuss that take precedence."

Given Fox's distaste for hearing the details of anyone's sex lives, an inventory of every individual staple in the Senate probably would have taken precedence over the subject, but today, unfortunately, there were actual pressing issues that needed to be resolved. Cody gave Obi-Wan the all clear signal, and a moment later Obi-Wan was by his side, their shoulders brushing together as his Sith came to a stop.

Obi-Wan seemed less sure on his feet than Cody was used to, almost swaying slightly as he stood, so Cody wrapped an arm around his waist, which had the dual effect of steadying Obi-Wan and staking Cody's claim on him.

"Commander Fox," Obi-Wan said, nodding to the other commander, and then at the farmer standing beside Fox. "I don't believe I've been introduced to your friend," Obi-Wan said, looking between the two.

"This is a cousin of Mace Windu. He came for a visit today, and decided to stay and help look for Windu after learning that Windu had fled from the temple after being charged with treason. He owns a farm, as you can see by his coveralls and pitchfork." Fox gestured to the pitchfork in question, and not-Mace held it aloft for them to see.

"Oh!" Obi-Wan said, somehow managing to look both pleased and disappointed at the same time. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said, extending a hand to shake, "I just wish it could have been under better circumstances. What is your name?"

Not-Mace cast a suspicious look at Obi-Wan as he reached for the offered hand, but he took it without comment, and answered, "...Sam. My name is Sam Windu."

"Welcome to the temple, Sam, I'm Obi-Wan." Obi-Wan said, smiling at the farmer.

The farmer gave another odd look to Obi-Wan, but thanked Obi-Wan regardless.

"Where are the Jedi?" Cody asked, looking back to Fox.

"We have them under close surveillance until we can gather enough troops to ensure that none of the Jedi will be able to escape our attack. In the meantime, there's been an outbreak of the Xidelphian Flu here on Coruscant. You and the Sith will both need to be vaccinated immediately," Fox said, and spun around to start walking towards the door before Cody could so much as open his mouth to ask any of the many questions that he had in response.

The farmer turned in sync with Fox, leaving Cody with few options but to follow after them.

Cody moved his hand to wrap around Obi-Wan's wrist, and pulled him along beside him. He wished there was some way to make it more obvious that Obi-Wan wasn't a Jedi, but at least it seemed that Fox had ordered the guard to stand down until reinforcements had arrived. Cody would just have to deal with any upstarts himself.

As they reached the door to the hallway, Cody hesitated, giving one last look around for anything that might help to disguise Obi-Wan before they followed Fox into the open. Nothing that would make a good disguise, but…

"Hold still," Cody said, and grabbed a large tarp that had been draped over an out-of-service droid to stop it from collecting dust. He threw the tarp over Obi-Wan, who gave a muffled noise of surprise, and then scooped Obi-Wan up into his arms, tucking him against the chestplate of his armor.

"Don't make a noise until I unwrap you," Cody says, and the bundle in his arms nods. "And try not to move." Cody shifts Obi-Wan slightly, so that the subtle movement of his breathing is hidden. Cody doesn't have to worry about his brothers mistaking Obi-Wan for a Jedi if they've already mistaken him for a corpse.

Cody jogs to catch up to Fox, who soon leads them to an area of the temple that is dusty from disuse.

Fox and the farmer come to a stop in front of an unmarked door, and turn back towards Cody. The farmer reaches into one of the pockets on his coveralls, pulling something out that Cody can't see and passing it to Fox.

"Thank you, Mr. Windu," Fox says, inspecting whatever it is in his hand. Fox nods once, and then Fox and the farmer surge forward, closing the short distance between them and Cody in the blink of an eye.

Cody has barely managed to turn when Fox grabs him, holding him in place with a grib that Cody can't break while still holding Obi-Wan.

Then the farmer grabs Obi-Wan out of Cody's arms, and the last thing Cody feels before everything goes dark is a sharp pain in the sliver of exposed skin between his armor and his helmet.
