Summery: While Sam is visiting her brother, Jack and Malek attempt to get along.
Rating: PG-13 (Probably PG, but I rather overrate than underrate.)

Warnings: Some Homophobia, The loss of Jack's son, Potential gun violence

Notes:

- It's an established universe that refers to previous fanfics, though it can be read on its own. Hopefully.
- Mark knows about the SGC and the Tok'ra.
- Sam is blended, and she has two daughters, Malika and Iasis. Iasis will only be mentioned.
- This takes place in 2012. That's when I stopped writing.

(I have no idea why it started double spacing in the middle of the heading. I fixed what I could, but I am limited on my phone.

My first attempt at posting this story showed up as all url coding. Yuck. So I deleted it to fix it.)

Chapter 1 - The Visit

"Sam!" Jack greeted cheerfully. He didn't have to be entirely professional with her anymore, and he was glad she visited frequently. "How is Malika? No Martouf? Where's your dad?"

"Martouf is staying with Iasis," Malek replied, already annoyed. Jack was louder than usual, and it hurt Amb's ears.

"And my father is busy," Sam finished. "He's working with Teal'c right now to possibly set up an official treaty between the Tok'ra and the Free Jaffa."

Jack grinned. "That's great!" He was in a good mood. "I'm sorry, Daniel isn't here though. They found some ancient ruins on some planet."

Sam chuckled, knowing Jack was being vague because Malek was there.

"How is she?" Jack asked, gently lifting Malika from Sam's arms.

"Teething."

"Oh. I…" He remembered when Charlie was teething. Difficult days. Difficult nights.

Sam knew. She also knew that he didn't want to bring up Charlie in front of Malek.

"Yeah," he replied, "so what brings you here?" He wanted to move on to a happier topic.

He's thinking about his son, Amb thought.

It's best to respect his privacy, Malek replied.

"I promised Mark I would visit."

"Oh? Mind some company?" Jack could almost see Malek resist the urge to react with some sign of annoyance, and that alone was worth going. "I have a few days off. I mean, if you don't mind."

"Yeah. I'd like that."

To be continued…

(I think my heading was longer than the chapter. LOL)
