The whole crew was exhausted, so Wrecker, Echo, and Omega slept while Tech and Hunter kept an eye on the ship. Hunter gazed over to where Omega was sleeping.
"She's not a kid anymore" Hunter marveled aloud. Suppressing his urge to point out that at 17 technically Omega was still a child, he replied with
"It seems that in our absence she has grown to be quite capable of taking care of herself"
"Doesn't mean she doesn't still need a family" Hunter said wistfully.
"No. It doesn't" Tech agrees.
When they arrived on Ord Mantell, they headed straight to Cid's to deliver the military-grade weapons. Cid didn't seem surprised to see Omega, and Hunter made a mental note to thank her for bringing Omega back to them. Omega looked conflicted, but like she was still planning to leave. Hunter made his way over to her
"Hey Omega, can I talk to you?" she nodded and so he continues, "When you left, it almost broke us. Even though you haven't been with us forever, there is no way we could ever go back now that we know you." Hunter's eyes looked at Omega more earnestly than she had ever seen. She noticed the rest of the batch had slowly moved in behind Hunter. Hunter continues, "You will always be a part of this family, no matter where you are. You have grown into a strong and independent woman and I am so proud of you. But as your brothers we're asking if you'll stay with us." A single tear slides down Omega's cheek, but she quickly wipes it away. Looking at the faces of her brothers who she loves so much, all of the past just melts away and Omega is clear in her answer. She nods as she says "I'll stay." The relief is clear on the faces of her brothers. Then, unexpectedly she steps over and hugs Hunter. The other batchers join, and in the embrace of her brothers Omega feels something she hasn't in the past six months: safe and happy.
