It was supposed to be a quick and easy mission. In and out. If only we knew how wrong we've been. Things would've been different. But, times change..

Kate Bishop POV

It was a normal Thursday morning at the Avengers Compound. Except it wasn't exactly normal. Because duh! I'm in the Avengers Compound. Surrounded by Avengers! How cool is that?

And yes I know. I've been with them for about 2 years, get over it right? Except I can't! I can't seem to grasp that everyday when I wake up I'm surrounded by Avengers! How surreal is that?

Anyways, stop fangirling Kate. Yelena would most definitely make fun of me, if she could read my mind.

Speaking of Yelena, where is she? I haven't seen her all morning. Not that I care much. So don't think I do.

"Hey Tasha?" I called out for the widow in the kitchen.

"What's up?" She asked, flipping pancakes.

"Have you seen Yelena anywhere?" I questioned, leaning against the counter.

"I think she's upstairs." Her smirk grew, "Why? Miss her already?"

"What? No! I was just curious.."

"Uh-huh. Well, if you see her, tell her breakfast is ready."

"Alright." I said, heading upstairs.

I walked up to Yelena's room. Which was near mine, we shared a wall.

"Yelena? Are you here?" I called out,

No response.

I looked in her bathroom, and her closet. No sign of her.

"Yelena?"

I walked into my room looking around. Just in case.

I stopped in front of my bed. 'Where is she?' I thought to myself.

And then I felt something grab my leg. I gasped, and tried to pull away. But the grip held on causing me to fall over.

"Ow.." I mumbled, rubbing my chin.

"Haha! Oh god Kate Bishop! You make it too easy!" I looked behind me.

And sure enough, Yelena Belova was crawling out from under my bed.

"What the h*ll Yelena!" I said, getting up.

"That was too funny!" She said, laughing with her hand on her stomach.

"Yeah, yeah. Hah hah. I was worried about you! How long were you down there?"

"Aw, you were worried about me Katie? How cute!"

"Kate. And answer my question."

"I was down there all night Kate Bishop!" She laughed at my perplexed look, "I thought you just talked a lot during the day. But it seems as though you even talk in your sleep!" She said, doubling over in laughter.

"It's not that funny! And all night! That's weird Yelena! And I do not talk in my sleep!" I said, swatting her shoulder.

"Sure you don't Kate Bishop. But thanks for the entertainment Katie. I really needed it to jumpstart my day." She said, patting my shoulder.

"Kate. And did you get Natasha in on this?" I asked, and based on the look on her face I had the answer to my question. "What? That's totally not fair!"

We started walking downstairs, where Natasha is.

"It is definitely fair, Kate Bishop. She had to be in on it too, so she wouldn't worry. Like you." She poked my nose, and I quickly swatted her hand away.

"Yeah, whatever. That wasn't funny. And all night? That's weird!" I said, once the elevator opened.

"It was so funny. And it's not that weird." She defended,

"It's really weird." I said, when we walked into the kitchen.

"Did you get her?" Natasha asked, smirking.

"Oh yeah!" Yelena said, giving Natasha a high five.

"Seriously, Tasha. You could've warned me or something. I just wasted like 5 minutes looking for her." I said, as Yelena went to get some pancakes.

"Yeah, she actually cared about me, Nat. How adorable is that." Yelena said, standing on her tiptoes and ruffling my hair.

I groaned and quickly fixed it. "It's not adorable."

"It kind of is." Natasha said, sitting down next to Yelena at the table.

"Whatever. I'll make sure not to worry about you next time."

Yelena put her hand on her heart dramatically, "No! Kate Bishop! How am I supposed to go on!?"

Natasha simply laughed at her dramatics.

"Ha ha. Whatever."

I turned to leave, but I bumped into something. I looked up, someone.

It was Director Nick Fury, and Agent Maria Hill.

I turned towards Natasha and Yelena, who also looked confused. But stood up nonetheless.

"Nick. Maria. What's this about?" Natasha asked, her tone surious. I went to stand behind Natasha and beside Yelena.

"We have a special mission for you." Nick Fury said,

"For me?" Natasha asked, her eyebrows knitted together.

"Not you. Them." He pointed at me and Yelena.

I looked at her, and she looked at me.

'Us?' I mouthed,

She just shrugged.

"Them? Just them?" Natasha questioned, seemingly wary of us going on a mission alone.

"Yes. It's an in and out mission. It would be good for them. See how good they work together, without the assistance of the others. Including you." Maria said,

"Alright. Well, what's the mission?" Yelena asked, taking control of the situation.

"Take a look." Fury handed her a folder, she opened it and examined its contents. "Seems easy enough." She concluded, giving me the file.

I looked it over. Just a mission to get information. We have to go to an abandoned Hydra Base. Clear it out, get anything important, then come back.

It is easy. In and out. Nobody should be there.

I shrugged and handed it to Natasha.

"It should only take a few hours. I trust you all are fully capable of doing this on your own." Fury said,

Me and Yelena both nodded.

"Great. Your helicopter is waiting on the roof. Get ready and go." Agent Hill said, handing the keys to Yelena. Her and Fury started to walk away, as Nat turned to us

"Well, you heard them. Get ready, your supplies will be on the helicopter. Be careful." She said,

"This isn't our first mission Tasha." I groaned,

"I for once agree with Katie here. We know what to do." Yelena said,

"Kate." I mumbled,

"I know, I know. But just in case. This is your first mission alone. It's a big deal." Natasha said, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Not really!" Yelena replied, as she started walking away.

I just shrugged at Natasha and followed after Yelena.

Once I caught up to her I said, "You know it is actually a big deal, right? I mean they finally trust us to go on a mission alone."

"You know it's just a mission to get information. We can't even fight anyone. Doesn't seem all that big to me."

"You're missing the whole point of this. But I'm not going to explain it to you."

"Thank God." She muttered,

We went our separate ways to get ready. All we needed were our suits. Everything else was on the helicopter.

We made our way back downstairs when we were done. Yelena was saying goodbye to Natasha before she left.

"Bye Tasha, see you later." I waved at her,

"Wait, Kate." She grabbed my wrist and spun me around to face her.

"What is it?" I asked,

"I want you to keep an eye out for Yelena."

"Why?"

"I know this is an easy mission. And because of that she'll get bored. Leading to her doing something reckless or even dangerous."

"Oh, okay."

"So please, just protect her. I know it doesn't seem like it sometimes. But she needs guidance and leadership. She doesn't fully trust herself to make good decisions."

"Alright, I promise."

"Thanks." She kissed the top of my head and sent me off.

*Timeskip 5 minutes(On helicopter now.)

"Buckle up Kate Bishop, wouldn't want you flying out." Yelena said,

"I know what to do." I replied,

"And make sure to put on the headset. Don't want to mess up your ears."

I groaned at her demands, but nonetheless, buckled myself and put one the headset.

"Alright, let's go."
