Let Me Help

2

"Hello! Anyone here?" I called out once I closed the door.

"Hello! Anyone?" I looked around the house.

No one's here?

Thank god. I really was not looking forward to seeing any of them.

"I'm here all by myself? Wow. This feels nice. I'm so glad none of them are here. That'll just ruin everything."

"Kate Bishop! What did you say?!"

Oh no.

Spoke too soon. I probably shouldn't have said that.

My father walked down the stairs.

Well more like he staggered down the stairs.

"Uh Dad? Are you drunk?" I asked him, as he made his way towards me.

"How dare you ask that question?!"

"I was just- I mean you obviously are drunk. But Mom said that she doesn't want you drinking anymore."

"You won't tell her anything. You got that!" He demanded, pointing his index finger at me.

"I mean I kind of have to. You know? Don't really have a choice. You know how she gets." I said, stepping back from him.

"No!" He yelled, throwing his beer bottle at me. "I don't care if you don't have a choice!"

"What the- Seriously?! Ouch." I yelled back, holding the side of my face.

"Yeah seriously! You won't be telling your mother about this!" He shot back, gripping the front of my shirt.

"Okay! Okay. I won't tell her." I said, holding my hands up.

"Good, now don't you dare raise your voice at me every again, you got it?"

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever.." I muttered, rolling my eyes.

"And stop with that attitude! Do you understand? I'm sick and tired of you and that God forsaken attitude!" He yelled, drawing his fist back. It collided with the side of my cheek.

The collision sent me falling to the floor. I thought that it wouldn't be in my best interest to talk back anymore. "Yes okay. I understand." I whispered.

"Ungrateful brat! Clean this mess up before your mother gets back!" He told me, walking upstairs to do God knows what.

'So annoying..' I thought, cradling my cheek.

When I was done cleaning I headed upstairs to clean myself up.

I stepped into the bathroom and looked at the mirror.

"Oh, that's a lot of blood." I whispered, looking at the giant gash on the left side of my forehead caused by the glass.

I cleaned up the blood and put a bandage on the cut.

"Oww.."

"That is most definitely going to be a bruise." I said, referring to my cheek.

"Whatever. Not much I could do for that.."

"Kate!"

I mean I wasn't speaking of the devil but...

Speak of the devil.

I started walking downstairs, spotting my Mom in the kitchen. "Hi mom. How was work?"

"It was busy. How was school? You had a science test correct?" She asked, taking her earring off.

"Uh yeah. I'll get the score for it next week."

"Good. And your father?" She asked, looking at my face.

"Uh, he's.. he's fine. Nothing out of the ordinary." I said, swaying back and forth.

"Uh huh.. He hasn't been drinking has he?" She asked, turning to walk to the kitchen with me following.

"Um.."

"Don't lie to me Kate. You know I don't like liars." She said, pulling out things for dinner.

"He just drank a little bit. But not too much to get upset about." I said,

"Okay. Your brothers are coming over sometime next week." She told me.

Oh. That was easy. Maybe she's in a good mood.

"All of them?" I asked.

"Yes, all of them. Why do you have a problem?" She asked, turning to me.

"N- no, of course not. Th-that's fine." I said, taking a step back,

"Hmm, and what have I told you about the stuttering? It's very annoying." She said, turning back around,

Nevermind. She is never in a good mood.

"Right, sorry."

"Make sure you cover that up before school. Wouldn't want people to ask questions." She said, referring to the bruise on my cheek.

"I will."

"Well, what are you doing standing around here for? There are plenty of things to do around this house. Off you go." She told me.

"Okay, I- I love you." I muttered,

No response. Well, at least I tried.

(Next day.)

"Kate. Up you get. Wouldn't want to be late."

"Yeah I'm up. Um, good morning."

"It definitly is not a good morning. But get to school. And don't forget about your cheek."

"Okay, have a good day at work." I said, as she walked away.

'Time for school'

I walked in the building and guess who I saw?

You guessed right.

Ella.

The love of my life. My future wife, we'll have children and get a hamster named Tupac. Maybe a dog too. How's the name Martini sound?

Whatever, it'll be fine.

It'll be amazing.

And there is no Natasha in sight.

Time to make my move.

"Hey Ella." I said, walking up to her locker.

"Oh hey..you."

"Kate! Uh sorry, my name is Kate."

"Nice.."

"Um, anyways. I hope I didn't get you in trouble with your sister yesterday."

"Oh no. You're fine."

"Great well uh.." I totally didn't plan this out.

"Are you okay?" She asked, knocking me out of my trance.

"What? Oh yeah. I'm fine. Why?"

"Well you have a cut on your forehead, and you are terrible at covering up bruises." She said,

Crap.

"Oh right.. I just- um.. Well I skate. So, that pretty much speaks for itself."

Not a total lie.

"Okay well um..I like your shirt."

"Heh, thanks. I like my shirt too. That's why I wore it. So thank you. Uh you look really good today too." I said, rubbing the back of my head.

"Well-"

*Brring *Brring

"Oh the bell.. Uh may I walk you to your class?" I asked.

"We go to the same class right now, remember?"

"The same class...? Oh yeah! Duh! How could I forget? Health class. Well we could walk together?"

"Sure, why not?"

Alright, this is going smoothly.

"So did you-" I started before I bumped into someone.

"Oh jeez I am so sorry! Are you okay?" I asked, sticking my hand out.

"Um yeah..sorry."

"It's okay Wanda." I said, lifting her back up to her feet.

"I'll see you in class." Ella said, walking off.

What no.. Don't leave.

Whatever, it's fine.

"Oh um were you crying? What's going on?" I asked, noticing that her eyes were red and puffy.

"I'm fine."

"Oh yeah, and I'm guessing you're a bad liar?" I said sarcastically.

Which caused her to giggle a little bit. Which was a win.

"Would you like to talk in private?" I asked her.

"No, I don't want to get you in trouble." She mumbled.

"Come on. It's no problem really. Besides, it's time we catch up." I said, wiping away a tear falling on her cheek.

"Okay..let's talk then."

"Great, are you fine with leaving school?"

"Yeah, let me just text Piet first."

"Awesome, take your time."

"You ready?" She asked, after a couple minutes.

"Yeah, we should go before someone comes out." I said, holding onto her arm and moving towards the exit.

We started walking to a coffee shop.

"Would you like anything?" I asked, once we found a table. The place was basically empty except for a few workers. So that is good.

"Just an iced coffee please." She said, pulling out her wallet.

"Woah, what are you doing?"

"Paying for my coffee?" She said, confused,

"No no, how rude would I be to make you pay? I got it." I told her, waking to the counter

"Thank you."

"Anytime."

After a while our order came, what better time than now to break the ice.

"So what happened?"

"Huh? Oh right, uh, It's about Vis." She said

"Oh."

"We got into this huge fight, and a lot of things were said." She continued, "We've decided to take a break, to figure things out."

"Maybe that is what you guys will need." I said.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, people usually take relationship breaks to think about if this is what they want. To sort things out and make sure things are going the right way. It'll take a while sometimes but it usually depends on the couple on how compatible they are. You know?"

"Uh huh."

"But trust me, you and Vis are like two peas in a pod. You'll work things out sooner than expected. And when the break is over, you guys will be back together and your bond will be much stronger, trust me.."

"Wow Kate. How are you still single?" She asked, giggling.

"Um, honestly I do not no. But let me know when you find an answer."

"Alright." She replied, taking a sip of her coffee. Me also doing the same thing.

"What's with your face?" She asked, reaching her hand out to touch the badly hidden bruise on my face. You'd think that after all this time, i'd be better at covering up bruises. And then moving onto the bandage.

"Oh yeah.. Uh, I..skate. Yeah I skate, and I fell on a ramp."

"Kate, you might be fooling other people, but not me. So tell me, what happened? And don't lie to me." Her accent coming on strong on that question.

Basically it's complicated with Wanda's accent. It'll come and go. Which is pretty weird.

"It was a.. It was an accident.. My father…I don't know, it isn't a big deal at all." I muttered.

"Did he do this to you?" She asked, with genuine concern in her eyes.

"Uh..yeah."

"Well if he did this, then it is a big deal."

"Don't tell anyone, please? It really isn't a problem. I can handle it, I got used to it." I told her,

"The fact that you got used to it makes it worse." She continued, "I don't know Kate.. I think you should tell somebody. Anybody could help, you just need to know where to look." She said, taking another drink of her coffee.

"But I did tell someone."

"Oh yeah? Who?"

"You."

"Kate, you know what I mean."

"Do I?"

"Stop avoiding the topic. Now, look at me." She put her fingers on my chin. Not gonna lie her skin is very soft. "I just want you to be safe alright?"

"Yeah I know."

"Okay if things ever get too bad you're welcome to come over to my house."

"Really?"

"Of course, Piet already thinks that you're cool, and my parents don't care all that much. So come over whenever. Promise?"

"I promise."

"And Kate?"

"Yeah?"

"If things get too severe, I'll have no choice but to intervene. Got it?"

"Yes, thank you Wanda."

"Of course."

You're probably thinking how weird it is that she cares so much. I mean we barely know eachother, right? Wrong. Me and Wanda have been friends ever since her and her family moved here from Sokovia. Which was a long time ago. We soon drifted apart, but not dramatically. We still talked and were on good terms. We just didn't hang out as much. Which isn't as bad as it seems.

We soon finished our drinks and walked out the building.

"Hey, do you want to go to the movies? There is supposed to be a comedy marathon airing" She asked

"Sure why not? It isn't like we could go back to school."

"Heh yeah. Let's go then. Oh and I'm paying for tickets and snacks."

"That's funny. Not a chance."

"Has anyone ever told you that you are very stubborn?"

"Eh, maybe once or twice."

"Just making sure that your self aware."

"Always, always."

"You know I actually like you." She said,

"Oh you're just now figuring that out?"

"Don't get cocky now Kate. But seriously, I really do think we should start hanging out more again."

"Yeah I think so too." I replied back.

"And thanks for the couple's advice. It really meant a lot."

"Oh that? Don't mention it, I'm just trying to help out."

"Yeah."

"No but for real. Don't mention it to anyone. Don't want people to think that I'm going soft."

"You're so weird Kate Bishop." She said, laughing.

It was a nice sound too. Her laughter.

One that I wouldn't mind hearing often.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Wanda.

She is so beautiful, and has amazing posture. Which makes it all better

She looks amazing with her eyeliner and rings. She smells nice all the time. Her accent is a god send. She's just so perfect.

Vision is sort of dumb to let go of her like that.

Heck, I would date her.

But that'll never happen, and I'm fine with that.

Wanda is in love with Vison and he is in love with her. That's just how it is.

And for me well..

I am waiting for Ella.

No matter the time.

No matter the cost.

I'll wait for her.
