The following morning, Anakin hopped into his customised V-19 landspeeder. Speeding out of Mos Espa, Anakin plotted a course towards the Northern Dune Sea. By midday, Anakin had reached the city of Mos Eisley, parking his speeder, he went a cantina for some lunch. He ordered some spiced Bantha Sausage and deep fried vaporator mushrooms. He had a large glass of blue milk to wash it down. Finishing his food and drink, he left 10 Wupiupi on the table and left. Returning to his speeder, Anakin saw, with amusement that someone had tried to steal it, but without his biometrics, not even the Force itself could start it. Chuckling to himself, he got in and resumed his journey to the Nothern Dune Sea. He estimated approximately one hour until he got to the Northern Dune Sea, two hours on top of that to get to Great Pit of Carkoon. He eventually arrived at the coordinates that Obi-Wan had given him. Covering the speeder with a tarpaulin so sand wouldn't get into the speeder's innards, Anakin began to walk, feeling the Force call to him. He found himself at the mouth of a cave, the inscription was there, almost completely worn away by sand and the passage of time. He walked into the cave, it was dark, but the Force guided Anakin as he ventured deeper in. Anakin came to a place where sunlight shone in through a hole in the roof. On the ground he saw two ancient symbols, he recognised them from his studies in the Jedi Temple under Master Jocasta Nu. The symbol on the left represented Ashla, the ancient name for the Light side of the Force. The symbol on the right represented Bogan, the ancient name for the Dark side of the Force. In between the two symbols sat an ancient altar. Anakin walked up to the altar. Instinctively, he dropped to his knees in front of the altar and began to meditate. Anakin's awareness began to expand, he felt the darkness seeping into the galaxy. He felt the failing light of the hundreds of Jedi spread across countless worlds. Then something began to occur to Anakin. The greater the light shone, the deeper the shadow it cast. This was why the Jedi could never destroy the Sith forever, the Jedi and the Sith represent two sides of the same coin. Both viewed the Force in different but equally flawed ways. It was in this moment that Anakin's eyes snapped open.

Anakin's conciousness returned to the cave. He saw that the ancient altar had opened. He got to his feet and looked inside the altar. Inside, he saw a crystal. It glowed, with a purple light that seemed to reflect the perfect balance that the Force needed. Anakin picked up the crystal and allowed the Force to guide him back out of the cave. When he emerged back into the bright sunlight, Anakin took a moment to reflect on the revalation he had come to inside the cave. The Jedi Order in their blind devotion to the Light, failed to realise the strength that the Darkness could grant. But the Sith in their complete rejection of the Light would never succeed in snuffing it out. The Jedi and the Sith both needed to end, so that the Force could be brought back into balance. Anakin got out his commlink and contacted the Lars homestead, Shmi answered "Hello Anakin". "Hi Mum, I am about three and a half hours away from the homestead, I just completed a rather unusual quest in the Northern Dune Sea, is it OK if i come stay the night at the homestead and get a good nights sleep before heading back to Mos Espa in the morning?" Shmi answered "Of course it is, with Owen and Beru away on their honeymoon, me and Cliegg have felt a bit lonely, we would love the company.". "Ok Mum, I will see you when I get there.". "Love you Anakin.". "Love you too Mum".

Approximately three and a half hours later, Anakin pulled into the garage at the Lars homestead. He locked his speeder down before going into the house. He found Shmi and Cliegg in the kitchen, the smells were positively delicious. Shmi saw her son walk in and she ran over to give him a hug. Cliegg sat in his hoverchair with a smile. Shmi said "Anakin, you seem different somehow, I can't quite place it, but you seem different" Anakin, still mulling over how to accomplish what needed to be done simply said "I feel different Mum" Shmi, sensing that her son wasn't ready to talk about it changed the subject "Well thanks to the credits you keep sending us, we have been able to hire help around the farm. We are looking at getting more moisture vaporators and extending the house a bit more, for when Owen and Beru start a family." Cliegg with a snort said "I'm going to have a lot of fun teasing Owen when the first baby is born, remind him of the amount of sleepless nights he gave me and Aika when he was a baby." Cliegg very rarely spoke of his first wife, her death was something that Cliegg never fully came to terms with until he married Shmi. Shmi allowed Cliegg to feel alive again. After her near death in the Tusken Raider camp, Cliegg wondered how he would have kept going if Anakin had not brought her home. He was snapped out of his reverie when he heard Shmi laughing at a rather loud noise that Anakin's stomach had just made. Realising he was hungry too, all three of them sat down to eat the stew Shmi had cooked.

Afterwards, Anakin sat outside, meditating, seeing if he could get the answers he needed through the Force. He felt a presence appraoching behind him and he heard the voice of Cliegg Lars "Got something on your mind?" Anakin, thinking carefully asked "How could you tell?". Cliegg with a slight smile said "I may look like an old farmer, but I have seen a thing or two in my life.". Anakin smiled and asked "Such as?". "Well when I was about your age, I rebelled against my father, I didn't want to be a farmer". Smiling widely at the look of shock on Anakin's face, Cliegg continued "I ended up leaving Tatooine, moved to Alderaan for a couple years, thats where I met my first wife, Aika. She was a librarian working for House Organa, the Royal Family of Alderaan. It was love at first site. I took a job at an orchard near Organa Palace, growing Starblossom. Most delicious fruit I ever tasted. About a year after i met Aika, we married and soon, she fell pregnant with Owen. And after she gave birth, I felt like my life could not get any better. But like all good things, it could not last for ever. When Owen was 2 years old, Aika was killed in a speeder accident on the way home from the market." Anakin respectfully asked after giving Cliegg a moment "What did you do after that?" Cliegg answered "I came home, Aika had been telling me that I should make up with my father. Told me that family matters above all else. And she was right. So I came back to this very moisture farm. My father didn't even wait for me to say sorry. He forgave me and he was overjoyed to meet his grandson. Only thing I really regret was that I never took Owen back to Alderaan to show him the library where his mother worked. He had such a thirst for knowledge and that library is one of the greatest archives in the galaxy, knowledge gathered over tens of thousands of years." Anakin, hearing the part about the knowledge in the Organa library, realised that the knowledge he needed may very well be there. Anakin with a smile said "Thanks Cliegg, you actually may have helped me without realising it". A bit mystified, but glad that Anakin seemed to have found an answer to some of the questions on his mind said "You're welcome" before disappearing back inside the homestead.
