Namaskar, everyone. Man, feels so good to be back in the swing of things regarding writing mood after another bloody two months. And yes, I've so much to focus on in terms of my main story projects, mainly my great Narnia/'Merlin' crossover adventure of 'The Chronicles of Camelot', and the still very much ongoing spinoff inclusion in brother Aragorn Elessar's now completed 'Heroes' series 'All This for a Jacket', but as ya'll know full well, Halloween's almost upon us all now, and cos I LOVE the film trilogy of Narnia and the 'Merlin' show, series 1-4 only at least with that OBVIOUSLY, and ESPECIALLY the absolutely shit ya pants with rockers bonkers hilarity stuffed series 3 episode with the Goblin, LOL LOL there, this Monday, while I was out on the afternoon/evening's collection shift at work, I was unable to stop coming up with this absolutely irresistible and VERY amusing idea for a fun one-shot I'm gonna see about hopefully getting written in time for it, where, set some time after 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe', when the Pevensie kids aka of course Lucy, Susan, Edmund and Peter, and played VERY respectfully by their actor/actress faces of Georgie Henley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes and William Moseley, have become Narnia's new Kings and Queens, and Camelot exists as a neighbour to Narnia.
So, allow me to deliver exactly that, the full on works on what my brain's brought upon my imagination in terms of this absolutely stuffed full with hilarity and fun one-shot crossed over between the worlds of Narnia and 'Merlin'. To clear up a little of where things stand, from our Pevensie quartet's perspectives a year has officially passed since they were crowned as the Kings and Queens of Narnia, and since the 'Merlin' series 3 finale and Arthur and Gwen began as King and Queen of Camelot it's been a few months.
I had originally planned this to be a one-shot, but with how long it was getting due to how much fun I've had with it ever since working my Brit's arse non-stop for four days since Wednesday to make it possible, lol there, and to save chapter length complaint, this'll be two chapters, meaning the full background differences to the 'Merlin' parts of this will be displayed in the end A/Ns of chapter 2, to save a very long boring explanation here at the start.
Anyway, let's get going with this fun ride, I hope you all enjoy so much. And happy Halloween, everybody.
I do not own the Narnia movies and books, 'Merlin', or any of the characters within either
Camelot, morning
Merlin sat back in his chair and sighed.
"What is it, Merlin?" Lucy Pevensie, or Queen Lucy the Valiant as she was very much now, asked their sorcerer friend.
She and her sister and brothers, Queen Susan the Gentle, King Edmund the Just and High King Peter the Magnificent, were sat with Merlin, along with Mr and Mrs Beaver, who had come along with the children, by invitation of course, to join in on their few days' social call on their friends in Camelot, in the Banquet Hall. Breakfast had ended some time ago, and Arthur and Gwen had politely excused themselves and headed for a meeting with the various other nobles of Camelot. Morgana had also departed herself a few minutes before, Merlin assuring her he would join her in their quarters later after he had said he would stay behind with the young Narnian Kings and Queens and the Beavers for a bit.
"You seem rather a little bit huffed and puffed outta ya hairs, boy," Mr Beaver remarked, earning a little elbow jab from his wife, Mr Beaver turning to her and spreading his arms out in a gesture of "What?", the brothers and sisters all chuckling themselves.
Merlin sighed. "It's all been far too quiet here in Camelot these last few months," he said, "Ever since we..." he looked between the Pevensies, "...all came together in the common cause to defeat Morgause and Agravaine and their immortal army a few months ago, and Arthur and Gwen officially began ruling as Camelot's new King and Queen afterwards, nothing big has happened really."
"Oh? And hasn't the establishing of a full allegiance between our two Kingdoms, and you lot here in Camelot announcing the welcome return of the use of magic throughout your lands, so undoing all of what Arthur's father Uther did relentlessly for years so that people like you and Morgana can finally be free, been big enough?" Edmund asked humouredly, nibbling on a last bite of food.
Merlin nodded. "Yes, there has been all that, Edmund, no question there," he replied, "But apart from all that, we've had no one try to attack and take over Camelot, no slippery devil of a magical creature or being has infiltrated here in human guise to cause havoc and chaos, Arthur has had nothing to complain and moan about regarding me ever since he relieved me of servant duties forever and installed me as his brother and advisor..." everyone chuckled at that, the Pevensies having been there to witness the moment when Arthur had declared said thing in the days after the battle had been won against Morgause and Agravaine, and then Merlin sighed again, brought his arms up and sat back, resting his head against them and staring up at the ceiling, "Bored, bored, bored. That's how I've been feeling these last months, with nothing better to do other than either picking plants and herbs for Gaius, lounging around with Morgana, or helping Arthur out with whatever small thing."
Lucy giggled. "Looks like you really are in need of some fun to relieve the boredom," she said. Her face then brightened, a mischievous shine coming to her face and eyes which didn't escape the eyes of her brothers and sister and the Beavers, "And I think I know just how we could do it."
"Lucy..." Susan spoke, a little wary at the prospect of what her sister was about to say.
Lucy turned to her. "Relax, Su, nothing at all that clownish and silly, if that's what you think I'm thinking of," she assured Susan, the mischief in her expression not faltering one bit.
"Then what is it, Lu?" Peter asked.
Lucy turned back to Merlin. "In our world, Merlin, there's a special occasion we, along with everyone else in the world, used to celebrate, before the war came and everything was put on hold because of it, on the last day of October every year, where you could dress up as all sorts of spooky creatures and people, like wizards, witches, ghosts, mummies and whatever else, costumes and all," she explained.
"And in the evening, you could go trick or treating, basically knocking on the doors of other people in your neighbourhood and asking them if either they'd like you to give them a trick, or they give you a load of sweets as a treat from them," Susan took over, she, Edmund and Peter having begun to catch on to what Lucy was saying.
Now Merlin was very interested, sitting up more fully as he listened. "And what's the name of this 'special occasion' event you say of, Lucy?" he asked.
"We call it Halloween," Lucy replied.
"Hmm, quite a name there, I'd say myself, your Majesty," Mr Beaver spoke again.
"Dressing up as spooky beings and creatures, and collecting candy from the homes of other Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve..." Mrs Beaver now said, showing as much interest as Merlin in what the Pevensies were telling of, "Sounds quite something to be described as fun."
"Well, we all used to do it before the war came upon us, and enjoyed it so much," Edmund answered back with, thinking about good memories of then.
"Hmmmmm..." Merlin said, everyone turning back to him, his eyes now alight with sparks of michief, his mouth forming a grin to go with it, "In that case, I think I know just how we could bring this 'Halloween' occasion to Camelot for real."
Peter raised an eyebrow. "Oh yes? And how do we do that?" he asked.
Merlin stood up. "To answer that, Peter, I'd better take you all down to the vaults," he said in response, "There's something I think you and your siblings and our friends the Beavers here..." he briefly glanced to Mr and Mrs Beaver, "...should see for yourselves."
"Wow," Susan said, unable to keep the awe out of her voice as Merlin lead them into the Camelot vaults, she and her siblings and the Beavers quite blown away by the sight of the various curiosities that surrounded them.
"This is where Uther stored many things considered the most dangerous and risky to Camelot's safety," Merlin explained, everyone else halting as he stopped before a large octagonal prism box which sat upright on the floor.
"Uh, what's...?" Edmund began.
Merlin gave another smug grin. "This, Edmund..." he said, and leaning down he knocked on the lid of the box like he would a door, and a few moments later the Pevensies almost jumped out of their skins as the box suddenly made a few jerking and rattling noises, followed by moans and growls coming from within, as if someone, or something, was trying to get out.
"What...?" Lucy began, she and the other three and the Beavers staring at Merlin in complete shock at what he just done.
The young magician's cheeky smugness however didn't falter as he now began to explain. "A number of months ago, and quite by sheer accident, I stumbled across this very box in a secret chamber no one, and certainly not me, ever knew of inside the library upstairs," he said, "And when I opened it, I inadvertantly unleashed a little green skinned pointy eared being you, and us here in Camelot, would probably known better as-"
"A Goblin," Susan finished, knowing very well, thanks to the descriptions Merlin had just given, just what he was referring to.
"We used to read about them in story books," Peter confirmed further at noticing the look on Merlin's face which clearly showed his curiosity as to how they could know about the Goblin without needing to be told the name.
"Though the versions who were part of the Witch's forces were a lot more evil, malicious, and much much uglier in appearance and nature," Mr Beaver added in inclusion.
Merlin gave a small whistle in response to all their words, and then was allowed to carry on. "Well, when I let loose the Goblin here, it caused all sorts of mischievous havoc and chaos throughout the castle in its endless search and want for gold," he continued, the mischief and glee now increased even further in his face, "Caused Uther to go completely bald via an enchantment, and then possessed Gaius after he and I made a failed attempt to catch it."
At hearing all this, the first giggles of laughter overcame the Pevensies and the Beaver couple. "Oooh dear," Lucy exclaimed, "So what happened next?"
Merlin shrugged innocently, but still not losing a single bit of his own humourful smugness as he relived the memories of those extremely balmy and hectic few days of the Goblin running rampant. "Well, while Gaius was controlled by the Goblin, it tricked a number of Camelot's peasants, including Gwen, into handing over their gold coins by lying about a deadly plague sweeping through Camelot and prescribing fake remedies to help protect them from the disease..." he went on, "...spiked the drinks of Sir Leon and the other Knights of Camelot when they were in the tavern and caused the men to develop big ugly warts on their face, gave Arthur the ears and voice of a donkey after he saw through Gaius's seemingly utterly ridiculous antics..."
Now the young Kings and Queens of Narnia and the Beavers, who had been struggling to hold in the massive hysterics which had threatened to overcome them, shrieked with uncontrollable laughter at all of what Merlin was telling, Mr Beaver's own deep barking laughter louder than everyone else's, Merlin unable to stop himself from joining in as well.
"Why have you never told us of this before, eh, Merlin?" Edmund said, almost sobbing with laughter.
"And to think that only a few months ago, we were fighting for Camelot's future against Morgause and Agravaine and their army," Susan added through her own tearful laughter.
"Oh, trust me, Susan and Edmund, that's not even the golden part of all this," Merlin managed to say at last.
"Oh yes, what was it then?" Peter asked, still chuckling as he did so.
"When Uther called a meeting due to the acts of vandalism around the castle thanks to the Goblin's want for gold, he, Gwen and Morgana began farting uncontrollably-" But before Merlin could even finish the sentence, that was the final straw for the Pevensies and Mr and Mrs Beavers, whose hysterical levels became so much that they all fell down on either their knees or backs, hands or paws thumping the floor or clutching their now aching sides, the whole room echoing with the sound of their uncontrollable laughter, tears flowing from their eyes.
"Oh, I'm going to tear you to shreds for not telling us of all this sooner, Merlin," Edmund bellowed, still unable to stop laughing.
"Edmund!" Lucy exclaimed, trying to do it indignantly but failing to do so, so much was her own laughter.
At last, the Pevensies and Beavers all managed to control themselves, and wiped the tears from their eyes as they got back to their feet and looked to Merlin again. "And how did you manage to put a stop to all this in the end?" Susan asked.
"By temporarily killing Gaius by poison..." the looks of utter shock which appeared on the Pevensies' faces prompted Merlin to explain the rest rather hurriedly, "...so that the Goblin was forced to leave its host's body if it didn't want to die along with it, and I managed to get it back in the box before it had the chance to escape yet again. Had a bit of help from Gwen to do said thing, as well as getting Gaius the antidote in the nick of time, the Goblin being stored down here so that no one could ever open up the box again.
"And now I assume you want to 'accidentally' release it again?" Lucy asked cheekily.
Merlin nodded, still displaying his own smugness. "Indeed so, Lucy," he confirmed, "You and Susan have explained about Halloween, this very fun sounding occasion you used to celebrate back in your world, and things have been far too quiet and boring here in Camelot lately." He shrugged, "What better way for us to bring that to life here, and have some fun and big pranks, than perhaps to unleash what I inadvertantly did the first time round last year?"
The brothers and sisters looked between themselves. "Please, Peter," Lucy addressed the eldest of their quartet, almost bouncing up and down with sheer bubbly excitement, "We cannot turn this down."
Edmund nodded, not even trying to hide his own naughty eagerness. "I'm with Lu," he said in simple agreement.
Susan nodded. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but Lu and Ed have my backing for once," she told Peter
At last, after some seconds of silent consideration, their older brother shrugged and nodded. "I guess if you three are agreeing with each other, I'm in it too," he said.
"I just hope you four know what you and the young whippersnapper here are inviting," Mr Beaver spoke up in a reminding sort of voice, with a brief gesture to Merlin as he said it.
"Oh please, would you stop being such a strict rodent for once and take time to relax and enjoy the spirit of happiness and fun?" Mrs Beaver countered back in response to her mate's words, the Pevensies giggling in response.
"In that case then..." Merlin said, and now, turning his attention to the box, raised and held out his left arm, hand open, and spoke "Onluc scrin", his eyes briefly flashing gold, and the lock keeping the lid of the box securely into place now came unlocked.
The moment after Merlin lifted the lid up, the all too familiar green skinned, tattoo and black hair bun bearing, pointy eared form of the Goblin sprang out of the box and landed neatly on his two little feet on the stone floor. "Boo," he said loudly, directing it at the Pevensies and the Beavers, the six of them jumping slightly, before the Goblin then noticed Merlin.
"Aaahh noooo, not you," he moaned, pointing at Merlin at the same time and retreating away from him a bit.
Merlin nodded, face now dead serious. "Yes, me," he responded with simply.
"So this is what you Goblins here are like in bodily form and shape then, huh?" Mr Beaver asked.
The Goblin turned to him. "Any problem with that, ya cheeky old furry rat?" he asked, spreading out his arms.
Once again, Lucy, Susan, Edmund and Peter, despite having only just laid eyes on the Camelot Goblin for the first time, couldn't help but break down in giggling fits, hands coming up over their mouths, as Mr Beaver took a few steps towards the Goblin. "It's beaver, not rat," he said indignantly, "And second, I should tell you that-"
But whatever he intended to make clear to the Goblin never happened, because the Goblin spoke a few gibberish words, and suddenly, in a puff of smoke, Mr Beaver was no longer there himself, but instead...
"What the..." Susan gasped, Mrs Beaver's own shock rocketing even more up through the ceiling than that of which the Pevensies displayed themselves at the sight of the large furry brown hat which now sat on the floor where Mr Beaver had been standing just a moment ago, his flat rodent tail sticking out of it like a bird's feather would do.
"Uh, Mr Beaver..." Edmund said tentitively, struggling not to break down in hysterics as what he was nearly on the verge of doing so once again, "Is that you?"
"'Course it's me," Mr Beaver's voice came from the hat, but rather muffled than usual.
Edmund turned to Peter. "Remember you once said about turning him into a great big fluffy hat if he kept telling you and Lu and Su to hurry up?" he asked his brother.
Peter nodded. "I think that may have just come true," he confirmed, the two of them and Lucy and Susan finally breaking into sheer uncontrollable laughing fits yet again, all four of them bent double.
But Mrs Beaver felt quite the opposite. "You little..." she started crossly, and lunged forward to grab the Goblin's arms. But no sooner had she done so, than the Goblin turned into a small sphere of golden light, releasing himself from Mrs Beaver's grasp and floating about in the air, making a buzzing like noise as he did so. Then, watched by the four stunned children and Mrs Beaver, and before any of them and Merlin could react in time, in a split second the Goblin whizzed in Merlin's direction and disappeared inside his mouth, Merlin's eyes widening and mouth clamping shut, his head making a few shaking movements, before he then let out a breath of air.
"Uh, Merlin?" Lucy asked, uncertainty in her voice.
"No, ya silly puffed up little girly," Merlin answered, the brothers and sisters taking very aback by his sudden rudeness, "It's me." And with that, they suddenly realized who it had to be.
"The Goblin..." Susan gasped.
"Yes yes yes, Soosie Loopinstraw," Goblin Merlin said irritably, now grinning slyly, "And now, I've the chance of some fun and payback on Merlin for ruining everything the last time he let me outta the box, now that I've taken him over and not the stupid old man Gaius."
"You turn my husband back to what he was, right now," Mrs Beaver demanded again.
But Goblin Merlin, still grinning, just tutted. "Temper temper temper, female rodent," he responded with, Mrs Beaver's irritation and anger only increasing, the Pevensies unable to find the right words to say themselves as the Goblin possessed Merlin turned to them. "You want some fun, don't ya, young juveniles?" he asked.
Peter shook his head and unsheathed his sword. "Not while you're controlling our friend," he answered back with as he raised and pointed it directly at Goblin Merlin. "Get out of Merlin now," he ordered, but all that Goblin Merlin did in response was to shove Peter's blade away from his nose with his right hand.
"You wanna play it that way, huh?" Goblin Merlin asked cheekily, "Very well." And then, in a flash of light he transformed from his younger self into the elderly long flowing white hair and beard bearing old man figure of Dragoon, but instead of the usual red robes they had been replaced by a set more alike a Halloween costume from the Pevensies' world, black and decorated with gold stars, a pointed wizard's hat completing it.
"Then let's have some fun," Goblin Merlin, speaking and then emitting a loud cackle in Dragoon's cracked old man's voice, throwing his head back as he did so. And then, looking to the staring in total disbelief Pevensies, he spoke in another language, eyes flashing gold, and at once another puff of smoke exploded around the quartet, the scampering of footsteps moments later signalling the Goblin's leaving of the room at a hasty pace.
At first, the brothers and sisters thought nothing of it, but then, seeing the even more shocked than ever Mrs Beaver gaping open mouthed at them, they looked between each other to see what was wrong.
"Susan!" Lucy, Edmund and Peter all gasped at seeing a completely different woman, dressed in a sleeveless flowing maroon red coloured dress, standing where their sister had been just seconds before.
"What?" the woman asked, her eyes widening and mouth gaping extremely widely as she looked down at herself. "What the...?" Susan, for that was who it still very much was, gasped, staring at her completely transformed body in utter immense shock, "What's happened to me? And why am I speaking in someone else's voice?"
"Uh..." Edmund attempted to reply appropriately, "I think the Goblin just, well, aged you up a few years."
Susan stared at her brother, and then scampered over to what looked like a mirror resting on one of the wall side shelves. She picked and held it up, her gigantic shock not decreasing in the slightest as she ran a hand over her new face and hair, but then, looking back over her shoulder through the mirror, she gasped loudly again and, still holding the mirror, hurried back over to her siblings.
"Look at yourselves!" she exclaimed, holding up the mirror for Lucy, Edmund and Peter to see. And one by one, they gasped at seeing...
"What on Earth has he done?!" Edmund cried, rubbing both hands over his face, his normal human features replaced by the yellowish eyed, fang toothed and pointy eared features of a vampire.
"I'm a Devil!" Peter went next, seeing that his whole facial appearance was like that of the ruler of Hell; the red skin, horns, pointed ears, small horns and black hair. His clothes had also transformed into the customary red suit traditionally worn by a Devil.
"And with a tail too," Edmund pointed out, unable to stop giggling as he pointed towards, and Peter seeing to his horror when he managed to look back far enough as his head would allow him to do so, a long forked tail jutting out of Peter's trousers where his backside was.
"And I'm an old hag!" Lucy finished with, staring in total horror at herself now featuring long grey hair and the ugly facial expression of an old woman, and was dressed in black hooded robes.
And then together as one, they turned towards the open door of the vaults. "Come back here, you slippery little devil," Susan shouted, she and her totally transformed in appearance siblings racing from the room, intent on finding the Goblin, Mrs Beaver taking a few seconds longer to do so as she first went over to where her turned-into-a-hat mate still sat on the floor, picked him up as gently as she could and only then did she follow on after their Kings and Queens.
And, first load of fun delivered. To be continued in next chapter, fasten ya seatbelts, cos it's only gonna get bigger in terms of the excitement and laughter, yeehah
