SATO MANSION

Korra and Asami had returned home after the whole Mako incident. Bolin had offered to try and talk to him. "You know Mako, he's always been hard for him to express his feelings. Don't worry, he'll come around". But Korra was still unsure, sure her and Mako's relationship wasn't exactly perfect but she didn't regret any of it, but she was worried that Mako might. She just layed there looking at the ceiling while Asami slowly started to get up.

"Hey. Can't sleep". Asami asked groggily

Korra just kissed her cheek. "Sorry I didn't mean to wake you. I've just been thinking". Her face slowly turned into one of despair

Asami just had to ask. "About Mako"?

"Yeah". Korra sighed. "Did you see how heartbroken he was? I'm not so sure he's ever going to forgive me, I don't want to lose him."

Asami got up and put her hands of Korra's shoulders and looked her in the eyes. "It's not anyone's fault ok? He's just confused and hurt, he's probably wondering how much he screwed up with us. One day he'll come around and realize that none of this was his fault, but like you said, we need to give him his space. Korra smiled and put her forehead against Asami's and both closed their eyes.

"I love you"

"I love you too". Asami kisses Korra briefly on the lips and cuddled with her. Korra just laid there eyes wide open thinking about how she lost a boyfriend, but might be able to regain a friend.

REPUBLIC PARK

Mako has a few drinks so far and is already started to feel better if not drunk. Marius was somewhat composed as he took his shots. Mako noticed on several occasions that Marius didn't seem to by affected by the whiskey despite the latter drinking more than him.

"So how can you drink so much and not feel anything". Mako asked inquisitively

"Alcohol doesn't have much of an effect on me." Marius answered

Mako felt his answer was somewhat cryptic and was curious, but didn't want to make himself obvious so he changed the subject. "If your offering me advice on love, that must mean that you have some experience with heartbreak."

Marius face suddenly became sullen. "I didn't mean to push. I just…". Marius interrupted Mako with a light chuckle. "No it's quite alright. I had a great love once…long ago, it almost feels like a memory."

"What happened to her"? Mako asked.

"Her father was very protective of her and did not approve of me. But she was willing to defy him for me, she told me that we could go through anything if we did it together. We made plans to run away and start a new life…but she never came. I stood there for hours waiting, but she had abandoned me, I never saw her again after that."

Mako instantly became sympathetic to Marius' story. He had his heart ripped out by two women that he himself dated as they also left him alone , he just kept asking himself where did he go wrong and if he was even worthy of love.

Marius continued. "A wise man once said, it is better to love and to see that love lost than to have never loved at all. What a load of bull!". Mako was shocked by how angry his voice got. "After that night, I spent every moment of every day wishing that I had never met her, just so I could free myself of this pain. Eventually the memory of her simply became…acid in my blood. Marius started to compose himself as he turned to Mako and poured another drink. "So enough about me, what are your problems?"

Mako wasn't sure how to explain as the anger and whiskey started to arise. "Well to summarize, I dated both the Avatar and the CEO of Sato Industries and messed up both times. Then Avatar Korra goes silent for 3 years only for her to come back with both of them locking lips. So both my exes are dating each other and I can't help but think of…of…". Mako gripped his shot glass almost bringing it to the point of shattering. He looked back at Marius apologetically. "Sorry about that, I'm still dealing with some stuff".

Marius simply smiled. "That why we're both here aren't we?" Mako couldn't help but make a small smile. But Marius face became serious. "I was just like you. I sat on a bench just like this, alone and suffering, I just wanted to pain to stop. But that's when HE found me."

Mako raised an eyebrow. "And who is he?"

"My guardian angel…if you can call him that". Marius broke out into chuckles while Mako just looked confused and somewhat concerned. "He sat down right next to me and heard my woes, then he put his hand on my shoulder." Marius then proceeds to put a comforting hand on Mako's shoulder. "Then, he asked me a question that changed my life forever."

"What did he say?" Mako asked.

Marius simply leaned forward and smiled a charming grin.

"Do you want to become a vampire?"
