Mako raised his eyebrow at what he just heard. A what? He had never even heard of a vampire before. Was it a group or a clan of some kind? "What exactly is a vampire? It sounds like you're making it up."

"No no not at all". Marius said. "You see, vampires are creatures of the night often depicted as demons, are created when a human is bitten by another vampire. The reason you've never heard of vampires is because we've worked hard to keep it that way. You see, we wander amongst you, in secret, wolves among sheep, feasting on your blood. Chances are you've already seen one and you just didn't know it."

Mako was still skeptical. "So what? Your some kind of dark…demon…creature..thing? Marius simply nodded. Mako then proceeded to laugh again at this man's ramblings, "Ok then, prove it", he challenged.

Marius simply let out a sigh. "Ok, you asked for it" and slumped his head down. Just before Mako started to move his face to get a closer look and Marius suddenly sprung up to be face to face with Mako. His appearance was monstrous, there were several ridges on his forehead that made it seem he was furrowing his eyebrows, his green eyes turned into a terrifying piercing yellow, but what stood out most was the two long fangs coming out of his mouth the size of small knives.

Mako jumped of the bench in shock and ignited fire in his hands. "Stay back. Stay away from me."

Marius lightly chuckled, his face still trapped in that state. "Easy there, Mako. If I wanted you dead, I would've done it. And besides, that's no way to treat someone kind enough to share a good bottle of whiskey". Mako still stood vigilant, but he felt that Marius had a point, he was non violent at the beginning but now…

Mako simply said. "Why? Why me?"

"Because Mako, you are a kindred soul". Marius said with a smile. "We both know what it's like when our lovers disappoint us and we would rather get rid of our pain than live with it." Mako could help but feel somewhat bad for Marius. "I've been looking for one such as you, if you accept this dark gift, you will gain your freedom and more. When you become a vampire, it's like nothing is impossible, enhanced strength and speed, a body that can take a beating, and if you play your cards right, eternal life."

Mako stood somewhat shocked as he shut down the fire in his palms. "What do you mean eternal life?"

"Tell me Mako, how old do you think I am". Marius asked.

Mako thought for a second, "I don't know…mid-twenties maybe?". Marius laughed hysterically, "No no, you're off by about…three centuries."

Mako stood wide eyed in shock, "You're trying to tell me you're over three hundred years old?" He started to be more calm. "Doesn't sound like much of a curse."

Marius face turned serious. "That's another thing you should know Mako. The idea of living forever is great at first, but then you realize you're going to spend that eternity alone. Feeding on humans in the dark and hiding in the shadows with only your own company. Some vampires are content to hide from a world they've become disgusted with, but there are those like me that enjoy the world, but have difficulty moving through the ages. That's why I want you Mako, I've been asleep for a lone time and this time period is unfamiliar to me, I want you to help me acclimate to these times. I want a companion to spend eternity with, a friend."

Mako didn't say anything, there were so many thoughts in his head. If everything Marius was saying is true? On one hand, he would no longer have to deal with the pain of watching Korra and Asami and find a way to move on, but on the other hand, he has people who care about him. Bolin, Opal, Lin, Tenzin, Jinora, Ikki, Meelo…even Korra and Asami, he would have to watch them all grow old and die while he stayed alive. And feeding on humans? He didn't fully understand that but he could tell it wasn't pleasant. He wasn't even sure if all of this was real or just a drunken hallucination.

"Don't worry Mako, you don't have to give me an answer right now." Marius ask comfortingly. "This is a big decision and there are many factors to consider, so take all the time you need and when you make a decision, I shall come but for now, take this as a memento". He then raised his hand in front of Mako to give him a necklace with a silver wolf charm. Mako took the necklace and observed it in his palm before Marius made direct eye contact and simply said, "Sleep".

Mako couldn't help but look into his eyes and felt the world spinning around him. He couldn't explain it, but he was just so tired and he felt that need to rest his eyes, if not for a little while. Then everything went black.
