So I have decided to try to write down a story that has been on my mind for a while, I have a few chapters completed already, so we'll see how this goes. I appreciate constructive criticism! English is not my mother tongue, so expect some mistakes, but hopefully no one that can't be ignored. I welcome ideas on where to take this story, I have a general sense of where I want it to go, but any ideas is appreciated.

Rating may change later, but for now it's a T

LANA P.O.V

I was on my evening run when it happened, I was about five minutes from home when I started feeling weird. At first I just thought maybe I had given a little too much on this run, cause I was feeling a bit dizzy and nauseous. But when some kind of invisible force tugged at my stomach, right below my navel, I knew this wasn't just me being tired, something abnormal was happening. I looked around to see if I could get some help, I figured I would pass out any minute, but all of a sudden my scenery changed, it was all a blur of colors, and I felt like I was being dragged through a straw.

As soon as it had started it stopped, the scenery stopped spinning and I landed on the ground and immediately threw up. I wiped my mouth and stood up to get home and maybe call the hospital, cause that kind of stuff just don't happen. As I looked around, I noticed I was nowhere near where I was supposed to be, where I was literally a minute ago. It looked like I was on a suburban English street, having just spent two years studying in England I immediately saw the resemblance, but that couldn't be possible, could it? because I had just been in Norway a minute ago.

There was a park a few meters ahead of me, behind me there was just a street with similar looking houses, as far as the eye could see it felt like. The second thing I noticed were the cars, they were all "old fashioned" sure people still drove around in those cars today, but a whole street, what are the chances? I walked over to where the street started, there was a street sign there, maybe that'll give me a clue, at least it would tell me if I'm in England or not.

I looked up and it felt like my eyes would pop out.

"What the fuck, there is no way!" I mumbled to myself as I looked at the street sign that read "Privet drive".

This has got to be some kind of elaborate prank, I thought to myself, but no matter how good a prankster one is, there is no way one would be able to teleport a person from one place to another, right? My head was hurting, this just doesn't happen, it is as if I have been transported into the world of Harry Potter, well at least to his street which, to my knowledge, does not exist in real life.

There was a cozy bench in someone's front yard, I hoped they wouldn't mind, but I really needed to sit.

My thoughts were going a mile a minute! How is this possible? Is it all in my head and I'm just having some kind of psychological episode? If it is real, then how do I get back? Sure the thought of living in the world of Harry Potter has sounded great many times while reading the books, but now I'm just confused and wondering if this is even real, it sure as hell feels completely real.

Okay, so let's say this is actually, by some miracle, real, then when am I? and what do I do? Do I try to contact Dumbledore? How in the world would I be able to do that and if I'm able, what do I say? I felt weird even thinking these thoughts, a part of me was still thinking that this is probably all in my head.

As I sat there pondering what in the world was going on the streetlights started to disappear one by one, and I don't mean turned off, I mean disappeared, like they were sucked out of the lamp.

Is this happening? Is this really happening? I wasn't stupid, I knew this scene. I got off the bench and crept along the fence on all four trying not to be noticed. As I peeked around the fence I was just in time to see Professor McGonagall jump from a fence a cat and land as a human in front of Dumbledore. I mean it had to be them, it hadn't been that long since I read the first book, I remember most of it.

I contemplated going up to talk to them, explain my situation, but I knew this moment, this is where they made a huge mistake. I don't care that Harry's mothers blood protects him here, there is more to life than not dying, and a child needs someone who loves him and nurtures him. What the Dursleys did to Harry is child abuse in my book, and with my degree in early childhood development I knew how pivotal those first years for a child is. My thoughts screamed at me to just stay put, see how everything played out and decide what to do with Harry afterwards.

Not long after the two wizards had arrived a low rumbling was heard from the sky, I knew what this meant, I would get to see the famous flying motorbike.

Hagrid landed with a thud outside number 4 privet drive, I had managed to figure out I must be at number 6, because there was one house between us and two fences. I saw Hagrid carefully lift up the bundle that had to be Harry, he handed him over to Dumbledore, I could see them all exchange a few words, but I was too far away to hear them.

Hagrid was the first to take off, I could see Dumbledore take a few steps beyond the fence before he disappeared into thin air, my guess he apparated. I never saw McGonagall but figured she could have apparated behind the fence or she was still there as a cat. I sat in the garden of number 6 for a little while contemplating what to do at the same time as waiting for McGonagall to leave in case she was still there as a cat.

I couldn't just leave Harry there, it would not be a good life for him, I shuddered at the mere thought that a small child with no way of knowing or understanding what was going on, being mistreated.

But my life at the moment wasn't exactly great either, I had no money, no clothes, no place to stay and I was in desperate need of a shower, but I still knew Harry would be better off with me, besides the magical folks would find him. They probably have some way of tracking him, then they would have to listen to my explanation, and maybe they'll even help me in return.

I crept forward towards number 4, I looked on top of and around the fence to see if I could see McGonagall anywhere, human or cat, but I couldn't and decided the coast was clear. As I looked down into the basket that a cute little one year old was sleeping inn, I just felt a rage build up inside me, they left him here on a doorstep, who's to say a dog wouldn't have found him and worst-case scenario attacked him.

I picked up the basket, Harry stirred a little but slept on. I could see the scar on his forehead, it did nothing to diminish his cuteness.

"Come one Harry let's get you out of here, we can't leave you here with these horrible people, I'll take care of you" I said to him as I started walking away from Privet Drive, little did I know there was a tabby cat following not far behind.

I had wandered for about 20 minutes when I started panicking a little bit, what was I going to do? I didn't know anyone, or my way around.

I sat us down on a park bench and hugged the basket tight so he wouldn't get cold, not thinking that they probably put a heating charm on him.

"so what do we do from here buddy? Do we find a woman's shelter for the night and then try to enter the wizarding world tomorrow, see if anyone can help us there?" I talked softly to Harry, silently hoping it wouldn't take me the whole night to find a shelter. As I was getting ready to walk again, I saw her in my peripheral vision, it was unmistakable, it was McGonagle in cat from. I sat back down on the bench.

"Please don't attack me or silence me until I've had a chance to explain please" I said, but not turning towards her, I got no reply.

"I promise I mean no harm to Harry" I said, still no reply, then I turned and looked at her, her little cat head tilted and scrutinized me, one second she was a cat, the next a person.

I couldn't help the "so cool" that slipped out as she transformed.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't?" McGonagall said as she held the wand up and walking closer to me.

"well for one it really wouldn't be a fair fight seeing as I have no magic" I answered, McGonagle looked surprised.

"You're a muggle?"

"Yeah I guess I am" I answered and shrugged.

"what is going on here? How do you know about Harry? Are you married to a wizard? How did you know exactly when and where to show up?" McGonagall asked.

"Most of them are very hard to explain, I can start with that I am not married to a wizard, up until tonight I had never even met one. I don't know what happened, one minute I was jogging back in Norway and the next thing I know I'm standing on a street in England, as in within seconds. I thought I was going crazy but then I saw the street sign and it all started making sense, well not sense because what is happening shouldn't be happening, but I figured magic must have brought me here, into this world, where magic is real. Your story, well Harry's story really, is just that, a story, a book, back in my world. I know this is hard to believe, but I was transported here somehow and I know of this world, of Harry, because he has a famous book series written about him and all his seven years at Hogwarts, that's how I know you were Professor McGonagall in cat form, cause I knew you'd be there tonight with Dumbledore just like in the book, is any of this making any sense to you? Cause it sure as hell doesn't to me" I tried to explain to the best of my ability, McGonagall listen intently to the whole story, not giving away if she believed me or not.

"let's say for arguments sake that I believe you, then why take Harry? Why not just contact us when we were all standing there dropping Harry of?" McGonagall asked

"Cause I know what'll happen to him there" I said in somber words, McGonagall's eyes went wide.

"A child needs to be loved and nurtured, a child needs to be hugged and comforted, needs to be seen, noticed and encouraged, it should not be ignored, starved, treated as a slave, sleep in a cupboard, jelled at, thrown insults at or be a personal punching bag for an overweight cousin. What is the point of the bloodwards protecting him if they are not really protecting him? Sure maybe bad wizards won't be able to kill him, but at what cost? growing up abused. No there has to be a better way to protect him that also includes giving him a nice childhood" I ranted at McGonagall, she stood there shocked, she walked closer to us and sat next to us on the bench.

"I am inclined to believe you, you sound like you are telling the truth, and I have been observing the muggles all day, they are not suitable to take care of Harry, but I never imagined it would be this bad, so just going on my gut I am willing to help you long enough so that I can give you veritiserum to verify that you are in fact telling the truth" McGonagall said and tried to take Harry from me, but I wouldn't let her, not yet.

"Please you have to promise me something, if you take Harry now and you involve Dumbledore, please do not let him take Harry back to the Dursleys, I know he believes it to be best, but as I said, the cost is too high, please keep him safe until you know I'm telling the truth" I begged as I held on to Harry.

"That I can promise you dear" McGonagall said with a comforting voice.

I let her take Harry's basket from me and glance down at him, she smiled a sad smile and looked back up at me.

"Come one dear, I'll take care of you, even if I might not know if your story is true, I can clearly see that you are a kind woman and that you care for Harry here, so no harm will come to you, I can promise you that" McGonagall said and helped me of the bench.

McGonagall held up her wand and withing seconds a bus had just appeared before us, I knew this bus, the knight bus. I looked at McGonagall, I was clearly confused as to why we didn't just apparate, but she looked at me as if to tell me to keep my mouth shut for now, I knew she meant when others could hear us.

"Welcome to the Knight Bus, emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard. Just stick out your wand hand, step on board, and we can take you anywhere you want to go. My name is Alan Hansson, and I will be your conductor this evening" a younger fellow said as he came out onto the back platform on the bus.

McGonagall stuck her wand out and said "We're going to Hogsmead and she is with me"

Alan clearly recognizing McGonagall, Alan straightened up and gestured with his arm that we could step on board.

"That'll be eleven sickles Professor" Alan said and took the offered money from McGonagall.

"We can talk freely here" McGonagall said as we took some seats in the back and she waved her wand around for a couple of seconds, probably putting up a silencing spell around us.

"Why didn't we just apparate?" I asked her, she looked down at Harry.

"because children this young can't side apparate, imagine the confusion, fear and discomfort they must feel" McGonagall explained. I hadn't thought of that, I felt a little bad about not thinking about Harry there, but I had literally just been in this world for 3-4 hours, so had to give myself a break for that one.

"right, that makes sense"

I looked down at Harry that was still sleeping and at that point I found that very odd, no child would be able to sleep through all of this, I looked at McGonagall, she could clearly see the question in my eyes.

"Sleeping spell" was all she replied with,

"right…magic"

"Hogsmead!" jelled Alan as the bus came to a grinding halt.

McGonagall walked briskly towards Hogwarts, I could help but stop and stare in awe, having read about it and seen it on TV is nothing compared to real life, the castle was nothing less than amazing.

"You can see the castle?" McGonagall asked

"ehm yes, was I not supposed to?"

"Muggles can't see the castle, it has a muggle repellent on it" McGonagall explained and looked at me suspiciously.

"I have no idea why I can see it, it is one of the gazillion questions I have about my situation" I explained, she relaxed a little, but I could clearly see that me seeing something a muggle wasn't supposed to be able to see, bothered her.

The castle was just as described in the books, but actually being there, feeling the atmosphere was something that just couldn't be replicated into words, it was like a dream come through for me.

McGonagall stopped in front of the famous gargoyle that would lead up to the headmasters office.

"Do you need me to cover my ears so you can say the password so the gargoyle can move to let us up?" I asked and McGonagall looked shocked that I knew such information and that was precisely why I said it, I needed her to believe me!

McGonagall said a clear "kamfer drop" I actually snorted, I could not believe Dumbledore had a Norwegian candy as a password, today off all days. McGonagall looked at me raising her eyebrow.

"Just a peculiar candy to have as a password, that's all"

McGonagall hid a smile and walked in front of me into the headmasters office.

"Minerva, what in the world… is that Harry? I told you he has to stay with his relatives, I know you don't like them but…" Dumbledore said but stopped as I walked out from behind McGonagall.

"That was my fault, I kind of kidnapped him I guess" I said and I could almost feel McGonagall facepalming behind me.

So that is the first chapter, what do you guys think?

Btw, I work full time as well as being a single mom, so the updates may be sporadic.
