"Come on Lincoln; I know that if you can put into the effort and practice then you can get the hang off this..." bemoaned Lynn Sr one afternoon as he had Lincoln go into the backyard so he could practice football with Lynn Jr. To their irritation whenever they passed him the ball to run from Lynn acting as quarterback; he would just toss her the ball or just toss it aside looking terrified and wouldn't even attempt to tackle her when she had the ball.
"I am sorry but I am not good at sports and I don't really like sports at all; not for me!" Lincoln bemoaned having some bruises from Lynn's rough playing much to disappointment from Lynn Sr and irritation from Lynn.
"Will you just suck it up and use some of that boy genes; boys love sports especially football!" Lynn ranted and Lincoln having enough glared at her as he got up while groaning from his bruises.
"By that logic then shouldn't you be playing with your dolls and dress up?" Lincoln shot back and Lynn didn't look too thrilled at having her double standard thrown back at her. However Lori watching from the window had enough and rushed out to step in between Lincoln and Lynn.
"Sorry but I think Lincoln has had enough and it will do some good to respect his interests and not force him through this." Lori said as Lincoln looked at her gratefully and Lynn looked angry and Lynn Sr was about to speak up. Lori went to Rita at the door and said "mum you have to back me up on this; look at Lincoln right now and ask yourself if you like having your son alive because if they continued out there then he might not be for too much longer!"
Rita sighed and told the Lynns "you could take it easy on trying to force Lincoln into sports; I am all for having him exercise and play outside but I don't think big physical activities are for him..."
"Another point of victory for the Lyman family!" Lori grinned holding out a high five motion for Lincoln as he smiled but Rita sighed shaking her head.
"I agree that Lynn out there is a little too rough and I will be speaking with them but I hope you can understand why she is being stubborn; when I was at this house after we announced the engagement to the girls they were excited to have you two joining the family... I overheard Lynn telling the others that she always wanted a brother to play sports with..." Rita softly told them as the two Lyman siblings sighed.
"I bet but she should get used to disappointment; I don't see her turning Lincoln into some sort of future Super Bowl Champion with more rings than Tom Brady!" Lori said as Lincoln looked up.
"Wait; I thought he was basketball?" Lincoln asked and Lori smirked at his answer that illustrated her point about Lincoln's lack of interest about sports and Rita just shook her head.
"Why don't you lie down and I will fix you something in the microwave." Rita suggested as they placed Lincoln on the couch. They then left Lincoln to relax but then there was Luna going downstairs as Leni entered showing off her new designer jacket.
"What do you think... Linky; you poor dear... Are you hurt?" Leni asked jumping in concern along with Luna.
"It's alright girls; I am fine..." Lincoln tried to say but it fell on deaf ears as he was tended to be their care.
Lori shook her head as she was setting the microwave on the meal for Lincoln and put it on; "You know I have been dreaming of simpler when it was just the 3 of us: him, you and me... And everyday we all hang out, to find out what we talk about... I don't even know what I am saying... I am losing my mind!" Lori ranted and Rita sighed knowing that this wasn't getting any easier for them.
"Lori; I know things are a bit... Difficult and I hope you can manage to let things settle and get used to your new step-siblings..." Rita told her and Lori scoffed.
"Do I have to remind you Mum that I had to stop the youngest from performing actual surgery on Lincoln?" Lori asked with her arms folded and Rita shook her head.
"No you don't Lori; I still have the essay that Lisa wrote protesting her punishment..." Rita replied shaking her head as Lisa was not thrilled as Rita convinced Lynn on the punishment of Lisa being banned from her lab work for a month.
Once the meal was done in the microwave they took it back to the living room to find Luna and and Leni overlooking Lincoln was wrapped from head to toe in bandages with only his eyes not covered. "WHAT THE? WHY DOES LINCOLN LOOK LIKE A MUMMY?" ranted Lori looking furious as Rita just face palmed.
Much later in the afternoon Rita was on the phone to her ex-husband about him and his brothers coming over for the wedding; "I appreciate how cool you all are and yes I bet the kids will be surprised to see you... Bye Larry!" Rita said as she faced Lynn Sr. "Are you sure you are fine with them coming Lynn?" Rita asked as Lynn Sr waved it off.
"Should I be worried that my future bride's ex husband and his 2 brothers are coming over... If they are triplets then I sure hope I can tell them apart, they not like Lola and Lana are they?" Lynn Sr asked and Rita looked amused as she shook her head. Larry and his brothers Lewis and Leon; alike in a lot of ways and in fact they all pursued professions as lawyers starting their own firm together: Lyman, Lyman & Lyman.
"I just wonder how he will take when he sees how the kids are struggling with the new arrangement... Would he want the kids to stay with him... Would that be a better option?" Rita thought with a sigh.
Decided to put in the reference to the theme song of the recent TV series version of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared which I rather like.
