Summary:
The safety presentation often ignored contains vital information.
He was wrong to feel sorry for himself when Taiyou had it so much worse than him. His parents were simply too busy, running the company and filming, to come to Machine Robo Festival. Taiyou's parents…They died four years ago in the same airplane accident Taiyou survived.
Everyone whose parents were here sat with their parents to eat. Even Rin, who was embarrassed by her family's loud interruptions during the public training session.
But it was impossible for Taiyou to have that. Taiyou sat outside, away from Red, Blue, and Yellow, taking his lunchbox on the stairs.
Daichi couldn't imagine how sad and lonely he would be if it was him who couldn't ever hug Papa or Mama again, but Taiyou had been living with that pain all this time. Sure, as Taiyou said, he had Bone and didn't remember his parents, but…
You had to wonder about your roots and this gap in who you were. Taiyou's dedication to saving lives had to come from somewhere. He confirmed it himself.
How could anyone stay cheerful day in and day out like that, with a part of yourself you knew was important, but couldn't access? Taiyou denied anything was wrong, yet it was hard not interpreting his hurried downing of his rice as anything other than willful deflection.
"Listen, Taiyou-kun. I want…I want to save you."
"Save me, Daichi? From what?"
The 'what' doesn't leave Daichi's mouth. What kind of rescuer was he? Incapable of comforting the person he hoped to save.
He went to Taiyou seeking someone to talk to. To feel comfort.
Yet this wasn't comfortable.
"Don't worry about it!" Taiyou rehashes.
Daichi isn't able to stow his worries. Maybe that's proof he's in the correct field. Saving people because people couldn't always remain breathing on their own.
You must first attend to yourself before helping others.
