Jamie looked over curiously at his wife who was sitting in the passenger's seat. She was silently chuckling to herself and giving him an occasional glance as she swiped through her phone.
"What's so funny over there?" he finally asked.
"Hm?" she responded, still looking down at her phone.
"What's so funny over there?" he asked again. "I keep seeing that you're laughing at something."
She looked over at him and shook her head, "It's nothing."
He gave her a look, "Ed, come on. Just tell me."
She sighed, "Okay fine. But don't get mad at me. If you want to blame anyone, blame your grandpa."
"Why would I…" he trailed off before the realization hit him. "Oh no… he didn't!"
Eddie let out a laugh and nodded, "Oh yes he did." She held out her phone and showed him a picture of a young Jamie, probably no more than six years old, giving a wide smile while dressed in his R2-D2 costume on Halloween.
He leaned his head back against the seat, "Oh geez."
She reached over and squeezed his arm, "You were adorable, Bub! And that gap in between your top teeth makes you even cuter."
"When did Pop give that to you?" he asked.
"Right after dinner," she replied. "While you, Danny, and Erin were on dish duty, we snuck down to the basement where he has all the photo albums stashed. I got some good photos. And he even let me keep a few." She opened her purse and pulled out a picture to show him. It was one of baby Jamie with his back facing the camera, standing in the backyard with nothing but his sneakers on. "According to Henry, you were notorious for ripping your clothes off at any given moment. He said that your Grandma Betty would always say that you had the cutest little tush in town."
Eddie laughed as a small blush rose upon Jamie's cheeks.
"I was hoping to keep those hidden away..." he said.
She patted his shoulder. "Don't be embarrassed. I'm sure I have some naked baby pictures around somewhere. I'll find them when we get home and show you to make you feel better."
Then, she reached back into her purse again as they pulled up to their apartment building. "And… Henry gave me this one too." She handed the picture over to him after he put the car in park. "It has to my favorite one out of all of them."
It was a picture of Mary cradling a newborn Jamie in her arms as she laid in the hospital bed. His hazel eyes were wide open as he stared up at his mother. The look of love between the two of them warmed Eddie's heart and had started to make her think of a conversation that she'd been wanting to have with her husband for awhile now.
"I don't think I've seen this one before," he said gently. "Wow."
"I was thinking that we could frame this one and hang it up somewhere," she responded, leaning across the console and resting her head on her husband's shoulder. "What do you think?"
He gave her a small smile, "I'd love that." Then, he pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Thank you."
"No need to thank me," she replied. "It's a beautiful picture. I want to hang it up. And hopefully… I can have a picture like that of myself someday in the near future."
His small smile suddenly got bigger, "Seriously?"
Eddie nodded, "Mhmm."
"Well... I'm sure we can make that happen sooner than you think," he said cheekily.
She laughed, "Oh really?"
"Yep. We can start tonight if you're up for it."
Eddie stared at him for a long minute, pursing her lips before finally responding. "You're on. You get the leftovers and I'll see you upstairs in five minutes." Then, she promptly burst out of the car and ran toward their building, not even giving him a chance to respond.
Jamie quickly reached toward the backseat and swooped up the bags of leftovers into his arms before getting out of the car himself and running after her.
