1. Amity

Amity was working on her portrait of her dad, Ed, and Em. Luz came up behind her and wrapped herself around Amity's shoulders. She looked at Amity's drawing and squeezed. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want, but not your mom?" Amity set the pencil down and sighed.

"No. Not after what she did to you. To all of us. She built Belos an army and knew that's what she was doing. And she didn't even care!" Amity realized she had raised her shoulders in defense and let them drop back down. She sighed again.

"It's not even just that, but everything. She tried to get you guys kicked out of school! She threatened to stop Willow from even getting to school, and then convinced me I should be mean to her. She made me dye my hair green because it made her feel better! She just–" Amity cut herself off with a groan. Luz was sitting beside her now. Amity met her gaze with a grateful look in her eyes. "I'm glad I got away from her. That I was able to stand up to her. I hope Ed and Em are with dad and not her."

She cupped Luz's cheeks. "That was thanks to you, you know. You made me brave." She gave her a kiss in thanks.

2. Willow

Willow, Gus, and Vee were on possum clearing duty as the group tried to clean up the shack they were working in. They were currently making their way up to the second floor, as Willow used her plants to stabilize the stairs and the roof.

Vee's hand hovered over a leaf that was jutting out. "You're really powerful, you know? I could probably transform for a whole week on just one of your plants! How long did it take you to learn this?"

Willow was shocked and a little awestruck. Sure her dads told her that all the time, and so did Luz and Gus, but it was still wild for her to hear from others that she was considered powerful . Wilder still to hear it from someone who could literally sense the power of magic.

Willow felt her cheeks heat up. She rubbed the back of her neck. "Actually… I've only been studying plants officially for a few months. I was in the abomination track before."

Vee's eyes flew open. "Really?! But you're clearly so gifted with plant magic!" Gus chimed in, hyping her up and making Willow blush further. "Yea she is! That's my best friend!"

Willow just shook her head, refocusing on her task of growing vines over the hole in the roof. "Yea, well, I have Luz to thank for that! If not for her, I'd never have switched tracks! She really helped me come into… well, me .

Luz had been coming up the stairs to join them, and overheard Willow's sentiment. She may have gotten misty eyed.

3. Gus

Gus sat on the living room floor playing hide and seek with Emmiline. The palisman was, of course, a master, but with illusions at play Gus had a few tricks of his own.

With an illusion laid over the living room, Gus made it appear like he was looking by the television, but in reality he was right next to Emmiline behind the couch. "Boo!" He reached out and grabbed the chameleon. Emmiline squeaked in annoyance and laughter.

Gus started giving Emmilline pets down his back and baby talking. "Who's a good palisman? You are! Yes, you are!" Gus startled when he heard an "aww!" from behind him.

Luz entered the living room with amusement on her face. She flopped down next to Gus and put an arm around him. Luz reached down and stroked Emmiline. "Such a good chameleon, yes you are!"

Gus leaned into her side, watching her play with his palisman for a few minutes. "Thanks Luz."

Luz looked at him, confused. "For what?"

"For being you. You know, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't even have Emmiline. Most of us wouldn't have a palisman. The Bat Queen never would've trusted witches enough to adopt them if not for you."

Gus sounded extremely appreciative and Luz felt touched. "I— I'd never thought of that. I wouldn't say that was all me, it was mostly Owlbert, I think. Plus adoption day was his idea." Luz tried to downplay her role in palisman adoption day. Gus wouldn't let her.

"Yea, Owlbert played a part, but so did you Luz. So, thanks. For being you."

4. Vee

Vee snapped the picture and made sure to send it to Luz, who was at school for the time being.

It was a selfie of everyone working on glyphs, with the caption, "Miss the best teacher 3!"

Vee kind of missed going to school for Luz because they actually found learning (and especially learning human subjects!) extremely interesting. They went back to working on her glyphs. She was struggling to get the fire one right. After a half hour of glyph practice, the kids moved on to spanish. Luz texted them back. "Looking good! Be home soon :p. Mom and I bringing chinese."

Vee isn't sure if it's intentional, or when it even first started, but over time, since they've been back in the Human Realm, Luz stopped calling Camila "my mom" when talking with Vee. Just "mom." It gave her a warm feeling right down to the tip of her tail.

She'd never actually had a mom. Never even dared to dream of having one considering they spent their life in captivity.

And now, she not only had a mother figure, but a sister too.

Vee smiled and sent back an otter gif.

5. Hunter

Hunter went up behind Luz and began to dry the dishes as she washed.

They worked in silence for a few minutes before Luz broke it with a whisper. "Do you hate me?"

Hunter was taken aback and looked at her in shock. Why would she think I hate her? She saved my life! In so many ways. Luz wasn't looking at him though, so she wasn't seeing his disbelief at even the notion that Hunter might hate her.

He reached out for her sleeve, startling her into dropping a dish into the sink. "Luz. Look at me." Hazel eyes met magenta. He could see her fear. He knew it well. But Luz hasn't treated him any differently from being a grimwalker and there's no way he'd ever think less of the girl who risked her own life for his, more than once.

"I absolutely do not hate you. You saved me." He could see the disbelief on her face and made sure the truth shone on his. He really means it. She shook her head. "No Hunter, I– I messed everything up. Why– why don't you hate me?"

"Luz if it wasn't for you I'd still be in the Emperor's Coven. I'd still be with Belos. You got me out of that." Tears streaming now, Luz just shook her head again. Hunter reached out and brought her in for a hug.

Wiping her eyes, Luz pulled back, shrugging and said "Yea I guess. Thanks."

1. Camila

Camila was exhausted, but so grateful. Luz was home. She was home, and safe, in one piece, with a band of friends in tow and a new girlfriend.

She'd never expected to become a mother to six teenagers overnight (though she had already accepted that at this point she had two of her own, Vee was hers now.) but she took up the role in stride.

She was surprised by how quickly she grew to love these kids, but they were all so good and tried to be helpful, even if their help was sometimes… misguided.

Camila shuddered at the thought of when they tried to cook.

Luz joined her at the Vet clinic today and they were going to go grocery shopping on the way home. Luz was going to show her the most "demon realm-y" food she could find.

"Mamá, what do you think my palisman will hatch into?" She looked over and found Luz cuddling the egg. It was weird for her to think that that would maybe become a magic staff for Luz to use, but she knew it was important to her daughter and was curious herself.

"I'm not sure, but I have a book of egg laying animals if you want to take a look?" Luz perked up and nodded. It warmed Camila's heart to see. Luz has been so subdued since getting home, too many burdens placed on her young shoulders. She pulled the book off the shelf in her office and brought it to Luz, who opened it right away.

Camila rested her hand on Luz's head. "Whatever they turn out to be, I know you'll love them. You have the biggest heart, baby. I love that about you." Luz looked at with a lingering sadness that Camila wished she could take away. She moved her hand to her daughter's shoulder and squeezed. Luz closed her eyes and leaned in to the touch.

"I love all of you. Never forget that."

When Luz's eyes opened they reflected back love, she launched herself at Camila's middle and wrapped her in a hug. Camila's heart hurt that she couldn't remove Luz's pain, but her little girl is the best thing that's ever happened to her and she could make sure she knows it everyday.
