Too He discovers that his fiance Joanna Nivena, believing him dead during these months, broke her commitment to him. Stark takes refuge in his mansion in Hamptons. One of the victims of the dissolution of the Stark Industries arms wing is Mordecai Midas, a brilliant scientist who had developed prototypes of novel weapons, being neglected. Eager to take revenge on his boss, he spies on him in his mansion.
Stark tests his armor, managing to finish off operations of the 10 Rings that were attacking the town of Gulmira. The appearance of this iron man infuriates the leader of the 10 Rings, Wong-Chu.
Mordecai Midas discovers that Tony Stark is that mysterious iron man and contacts Ahmed, the 10 Ring link in North America, revealing the identity of "Iron Man" and soon Wong-Chu finds out about this too.
Mordecai steals technology from Stark Industries and hands it over to the 10 Rings. Wong-Chu travels to a 10 Ring base in Brooklyn and with Mordecai Midas creates the Mobile Armored Utility Laser-guided E-beam, Revised or Mauler armor used by Ahmed, as well as technology capable of melting objects, which Wong-Chu immediately adopts adopting the name of Melter. Mauler and Melter attack the Stark Tower.
Tony Stark confronts them and after a hard fight, destroys Mauler, and causes an energy overload in Melter's weapons, killing Wong-Chu. The fight is captured by the press, and Iron Man is on everyone's lips. Tony Stark calls a press conference in which he dissociates himself from any connection with Iron Man.
The last scene shows Mordecai contacting a link of the 10 Rings that states that the group is far from dissolving and that they only had to wait for the Mandarin's instructions, the authentic leader of the organization.
