Talking aloud to self

The rockets are seen casually cruising through space. They float through the 'tail' of a comet.

Jammy: Look, Goddard. The wonders of the universe. We are witnessing celestial events no person, or dog, has ever seen. (Jammy says in wonder, her face peaceful.)

Sydney drives his rocket beside of Jammy's. Berty is listening to music while Sydney looks out into space. He begins to speak up.

Sydney: It's incredible. (Sydney says in admiration. The sun radiates a warming glow while the galaxy twinkles like city lights. It's as though a thousand fireflies came alive and shine for them.) Sydney turns to look at Jammy staring at her. Upon feeling eyes on her, she looks to back to Sydney. They both smile at each other before Sydney shakes his head in disgust. Jammy gasps a little hurt by his reaction. She turns back around a little sour and decides to start up a conversation with Nick seeing as though his rocket was relatively close by.

Jammy: Beautiful, isn't it, Nick?

Nick: Yeah, yeah whatever you say Jamicakes. Wake me when we get there. (Nick sluggishly responds as he kicks his feet up on the mantel of his rocket and closes his eyes.)

Random boy with glasses: Hey, Jammy. (Jammy turns to the voice and sees it was a kid in the Octa-puke.) D'you think we can rotate shifts after a while? (He said sounding extremely nauseous.)

Red hair boy: Hey, we'll switch. (A boy in a similar type of ride rocket calls out.)

Carla's rocket makes its way beside of Jammy's. We see Carla squeezing a tube of toothpaste, eating its contents.

Carla: Hey, this astronaut food isn't too bad. (Carla calls out while shaking the tube unknowing of what she was eating.)

Jammy squints at the tube in her hand realizing that Carla was eating toothpaste.

Jammy: Uhm... you know that's toothpaste, Carla.

Carla looks at the tube and sees what Jammy meant. She stops eating it now knowing that she wasn't actually eating food. Carla chuckles sheepishly as her cheeks redden a little in embarrassment before joking around.

Carla: Minty. (As she goes to get rid of the toothpaste a meteor hits, knocking it from her hand.) Hey, what's happening? (She exclaims in alarm while looking to Jammy.)

Jammy: Meteor shower. (Jammy calls out in panic, as her eyes widen a little in fear.) Evasive action.

Multiple meteors head for the rockets. Goddard converts the top of his head into an umbrella while at the same time retrieving a hard hat from his storage. Goddard uses his extendable had to place the hat protectively on Jammy's head making sure it's securely attached. Now don't get Jammy all wrong. She loves how protective Goddard is but sometimes she wishes that he'd ease up a little. Jammy blushes at Goddard's mother-henning before she whines to argue with him.

Jammy: Goddard! (Goddard grumble speaks to Jammy scolding her.) But Goddard no one else has protective gear. (Goddard whines giving her puppy dog eyes.) Why'd you have to do that? You know it's impossible for me to deny you anything when you look like that. (Goddard smirks to himself knowing that she'll give in.) Fineeee. (Jammy crosses her arms over her chest not pleased.)

The meteors pelt the rockets. Kids huddle together using objects like shields from the rides to shield themselves from the heavy hailing.

Sheena: I do so relish these times of peril. Supervivencia del más rápido (Sheena pulls her mask on her face as she goes kamikaze into the meteor storm. Her rocket gets hit by a few meteors, but she manages to outmaneuver most of them.)

At the same time Sydney and Berty are dodging their own onslaught of meteors. Sydney turns to look at Berty to see if he was ok.

Sydney: That was close. You good, bro?

Before Berty can respond his eyes then widen in fear as he points ahead of them. Sydney looks to where he is pointing and sees a huge meteor that they can't dodge.

Berty: Look out!

Thinking quick Sydney pushes a button on their rocket which causes the nose of the rocket to spin like a drill. The rocket hits the meteor but drills through it allowing the boys to safe pass. Back with Jammy, she evades many meteors before calling out.

Jammy: We've gotta find shelter. (She looks at her scanner and sees somewhere for them to take refuge for the night.) Asteroid bearing 236 mark 7 degrees. Come on! (Jammy shouts as she leads the kids to the asteroid. When they are in orbit of it everyone starts to lower their landing gears.)

Embers from a campfire flying up into the stary night sky. The rockets are all set off in the distance while most of the kids are gathered around a fire listening to Nick tell a ghost story.

Nick: So then these three filmmakers find all these sticks in the trees shaped like stick people. And the girl filmmaker starts crying and her nose starts dripping. And they don't have any tissue at all.

Carla: None? (Carla questions.)

Nick: None. So then they start to hear really scary noises and voices coming from outside. So they leave the tent.

Carla: Don't leave the tent! Don't leave the tent! (She yells scared.)

Nick: Oh, yeah, (Nick points to Carla.) Carla. They leave the tent, and they follow the voices, when from out of the darkness comes the...

Arnie jumps out of nowhere making gibberish noises. All the kids scream in fear while Carla passes out.

Nick: Man, that was so choice. (Nick high fives his partner in crime.) You should have seen your faces. (He points at them and laughs.)

Sheena: Did they really leave the tent, Nick? Por favor di que no. (Sheena whispers out as she hugs her knees to herself, wide eyed.)

All the kids are now lying on their sleeping bags ready for bed. The campfire is still alight from earlier. Trying to raise their spirits a little Jammy starts pointing out objects out in space. Goddard sits beside her looking up to where Jammy points. Carla watches with interest while others just listen not really too interested since they are tired.

Jammy: Hey, there's a red giant. And that's a white dwarf.

Sydney lifts himself up from his sleeping bag to look over at Jammy before remarking.

Sydney: You can relate, huh, Neutron? (Sydney snarks as he laughs at her. He proceeds to lay back down on sleeping bag)

Jammy looks dejected with a frown gracing her face. There were few things that truly got to Jammy. One of which was her height. She was shorter than the average 11 year old. Most girls her age were already at 4 foot 4 inches. Jammy was barely hitting 4 foot. When she had went to the doctor for her checkup, the doctor told her not to worry about being short right now. Her doctor said that once she hits puberty, her growth spurt would hit and then she'd be taller. Although this comforted her, Jammy was still insecure about her height.

Carla looks over to see that Jammy mood has changed and asks her what's up.

Carla: Hey, Jammy, what's the matter?

Jammy leans towards Carla before speaking up, her voice barely above a whisper.

Jammy: Listen Carla, in case you haven't noticed, I'm not exactly the tallest gal around. (Jammy starts to list off insults and teasing words.) Shorty, squirt, small-stuff, shrimp. It gets to you after a while. And next year there'll be dances. What boy wants to dance with a girl who looks like she should still be in Gymboree, huh? (She says despondently and ashamed fearing that no one would ever want to ask her to any dances later on.)

Carla nods in understanding. She can see why her friend feels that way and sympathizes with her. She then tries to joke around to cheer her up.

Carla: Umm... I didn't think we liked boys yet, Jam. (Carla states with a teasing smile on her face.)

Jammy lightly giggles at Carla's attempt and returns the smile.

Jammy: We don't. We don't. No. Urgh! (They both make disgusted faces, playing around. Jammy continues on with their banter.) Not yet. No. However, one day, Carla, an influx of hormones that we can't control will overpower our better judgment and drive us to pursue the male species against our will.

Carla: Stop talking like that, Jammy! You're gonna give me nightmares!

Carla covers her ears and jokingly covers her ears like she's not listening. Jammy begins to speak placatingly.

Jammy: In all seriousness though, I wouldn't worry, Carla. I have a feeling puberty is light years away for you and me.

Both girls look to each other before chuckling at their banter.

Jammy: Thanks, Carla. I needed that. You're a great friend!

Carla: No problem, Jammy. You're a great friend too.

While Jammy is talking to Carla -With Berty and Sydney

Berty: Why'd you say that?

Sydney: I don't know what you mean.

Berty: Don't kid yourself. What happened to the plan?!

Sydney: Look I tried but you heard what I said. I can't keep my mouth shut and when I try I just insult her.

Berty: Maybe its because your still in denial and aren't actually trying.

Sydney opens his mouth to make a retort when he starts opening and closing his mouth like a fish.

Sydney: Is that my problem? Am I truly not trying? Maybe Berty's right.

Berty shakes his head knowingly.

Back with Carla and Jammy

A shooting star, streaks across the sky. We see a close up of Carla's face, regret gracing her face. She speaks up.

Carla: You know, we should have never joked like that and wished on that star, Jammy, cos I miss my folks. (Her voice breaks, as a single tear falls from her eye.)

The scene swaps over to show Berty and Sydney lying on their sleeping bags.

Berty: My mom used to tuck me in bed every night before she was abducted by aliens.

Berty glances to Sydney and gestures with his eyes to Jammy. Sydney rolls his eyes and rolls over in his sleeping bag. We now see Sheena lying on her sleeping bag.

Sheena: Before my papi was abducted by aliens, he would always leeme para dormir. (Sheena says sadly.)

The scene shifts back over to Carla.

Carla: Before my mom was abducted by aliens, she would rub my tummy and she'd sing... 'Naani naani nani'

Carla rubs her stomach as she sings. Nick sits up with an annoyed expression.

Nick: What? (Nick questions frustrated.)

Carla: Nothing. (She stops so as to not start a fight.)

Jammy: Come on, you guys. We gotta keep our heads. (Goddard curls up right beside Jammy.) We'll find 'em. (She pets Goddard's head, a forlorn expression on her face. Jammy stares up into space.) One more step closer. I hope they're okay. (Jammy shuts her eyes and falls into a dreamless sleep.)

The camera zooms out making all the kids increasingly smaller. It keeps going until shows whole asteroid and the space around it.

The next morning we see the sun rising. In the distance the rockets are getting closer to their destination. Jammy decides it is now time to discuss their game plan.

Jammy: Before we arrive we will break into two groups. A small scouting party consisting of myself and four others. Everyone else will be the strike team. Sheena, Carla, your with me. I'll need your help.

Carla and Sheena look to each other from across their rockets smirking. They decide to play around some with Jammy. Simultaneously they both speak up in militaristic voices.

Carla & Sheena: It is our honor to go with you on such a harrowing endeavor, General!

Jammy rolls her eyes lovingly at her friends goofiness. She proceeds to call out to the rest of the kids.

Jammy: I still need two volunteers. Who will come with us?

The rest of the kids look to each other nervous about what joining the scouting party would entail. Berty looks to Sydney inclining his head at Jammy giving him an unsaid suggestion. Sydney looks back and forth between Berty and Jammy understanding what he was implying. Deciding that Sydney is taking too long Berty goes to speak up and give Sydney a little nudge to choose quickly.

Berty: I'll go with you.

Sydney looks over to Nick and sees him smirking. Nick calls out to Jammy.

Nick: Hey Jammy...

Stealing his resolve Sydney interrupts Nick of before he can finish.

Sydney: I'll do it!

Nick glares at the blonde in frustration while Sydney reciprocates the action. You could cut the tension with a knife. Jammy looks back and forth at the two boys in confusion not understanding what happened.

Jammy: Okay... (Turns to her friends and mouths.) What's up with those two? (Sheena and Carla both shrug in ignorance.)

Later on Goddard starts sniffing the 'air'. He barks in excitement.

Jammy: What is it, boy? (Goddard points towards a planet.) Sensor sweeps reveal many advanced cities and.. ion energy signatures. That's it! We've found it. I repeat: We've found it. (Jammy joyously calls, glad to have found the planet.)

All the kids shout out jubilantly. Jammy flies her rocket over towards Nick.

Jammy: Nick, we'll contact you as soon as we find the parents so you can kick some alien buttocks.

Nick gives Jammy a thumbs up and a flirty wink.

Nick: Piece of cake, Jamicakes.

Jammy feels her cheeks become warm. She shakes her head a little before turning to the rest of the rockets.

Jammy: OK, scouting party, follow me. (She makes a 'follow me' hand gesture.)

While the scouting party heads to the planet, Sydney passes by Nick's rocket speaking just loud enough for him to hear.

Sydney: Score one for me, Nick. (Sydney says while looking smug.)

The four rockets branch off from the rest, descending down towards the planet. Unknown to them, they are about to discover shocking revelations.
