watching horror movies and being afraid to go to bed
"Oh, this one seems interesting! Let's watch it!" Bella said, sliding down on the couch, making herself comfortable.
"Escape room? Are you sure about it, Swan?" Paul asked, sitting next to her. "You're really choosing a horror movie?"
"This one doesn't look so bad," Bella replied, shrugging. "Come on, Lahote, it's just a movie."
"That isn't the reason why I was asking," Paul said, before sitting down next to her and hugging her body to his. "Just put on the movie."
Bella smirked and put on the movie; she knew she could make Paul see reason. The movie wasn't so bad per se, but Bella never was someone who liked horror movies, and she never wanted to watch them voluntarily. But it was almost Halloween, so she thought it could be interesting.
She never imagined how wrong she would be.
After the movie finished, Bella was preparing herself to bed, and she didn't want to go to bed alone. She couldn't tell Paul this, or he would tease her mercilessly, and Bella wasn't in the mood for his teasing.
"Are you staying the night?" Bella asked, trying to sound nonchalant. "You don't have to go back to La Push tonight."
Paul looked at her like she had lost her mind, and maybe she had, but he didn't need to know about that.
"Nah, it's alright. It's a pretty night, with the full moon, and I like to have my run before bed," Paul said, before coming near her and kissing her forehead. "We're still up for dinner with your dad tomorrow, right?"
Bella hummed and nodded, not wanting to say anything, afraid she would beg him to stay. When Paul imprinted on her, she thought he would always know when she needed him, but apparently, it wasn't working tonight.
"Alrighty, thanks for the movie," Paul said, quickly kissing her on the lips, before walking towards the door. "Don't go to bed too late, I know how cranky you can get when you're tired."
Scoffing at him, Bella just walked with him. She knew she shouldn't have watched that damn movie, and now she was paying the price, all because she didn't want to ask Paul to stay with her.
With a last kiss, Paul walked away and Bella closed the door. Her resolution lasted five seconds, before she opened the door, to find Paul standing on her porch, crossed arms and a smirk on his face.
"You're afraid to go to bed alone, aren't you?" Paul asked, his eyes betraying the mirth he felt. "I told you not to watch that movie."
"Yeah yeah, shut up," Bella snapped, not liking the smirk on his face. "Are you coming in or not? I'm getting tired."
"Told you, cranky," Paul whispered in her ear, before kissing it lightly. "Let's go, Swan, I promise to keep the monsters at bay."
Bella huffed, but didn't reply. Paul was an expert in keeping her monsters at bay.
