Hey, everybody. Welcome to my newest story.

So, I've been a big fan of Blue Bloods for a while, and have been very excited to see Season 13. Now, I've only watched up to Season 9 (don't have the ability to stream the rest of the seasons right now) and scattered clips from Seasons 10-12, so I may miss a few things, but I'll try to do my best.

So, this will center around a central plot, but I'll still do episodal cop stories as well. This is not my biggest priority, so I don't know how often I'll update this, but I will try.

This story starts after Jamie got shot in Episode 1 of Season 13. I named the story after the first episode of Season 13 if you didn't notice.

Let's get started.

Chapter 1

As the elevator doors slide open, Eddie hurries out of the elevator, her heart pounding in her throat. After she received the text from Danny, she had dropped everything and raced to the hospital. She was trying her best not to jump to any assumptions in case he wasn't actually hurt that bad, but she knows it could be serious.

"Jamie. Jamie. Where's Jamie?" Eddie asks aloud as she speed-walks into the waiting room, asking nobody in particular but desperate for an answer. As she enters, she quickly sees Danny and Joe waiting in chairs in the waiting room.

Eddie immediately spots a nurse coming out of the ward and rushes towards, demanding, "Jamie. Where's Jamie?"

"Mrs. Reagan?" the nurse asks to clarify her identity.

"Yes, I'm his wife," Eddie confirms, desperate for anything.

"Don't worry. Why don't you have a seat? We're taking good care of him," the nurse says, trying to get Eddie to be calm.

Eddie is having none of it. "No! Where is he? Where?!" she demands desperate to see her husband.

Danny, seeing the brewing situation and seeing how worked up Eddie is getting, stands up and walks over to them, reaching out to take the items the nurse is holding, trying to give Eddie a moment to make her move. "I'll take this. This is my brother's stuff," Danny says, but his gaze focused on Eddie.

Not sure whether Danny is doing this on purpose to give her an opening, but not caring if he is or not, Eddie, rushes past the nurse, bursting through the doors onto the ward, "crying out her husband's name.

Eddie whips her head around, and as she looks into the first room on the ward, Eddie's heart sinks. Jamie is lying on the gurney, hooked up to multiple machines as the doctors are busying themselves attending to him.

"Jamie! Jamie!" Eddie cries out in fear as she races towards the room. However, a nurse hurries to intercept her, grabbing Eddie and holding her back.

"You've got to fight, Jamie! You've got to fight!" Eddie all but screams, hoping Jamie can hear her. However, her fear only magnifies as she isn't able to discern any movement from Jamie.

By now, Danny has rushed onto the ward to bring Eddie back out. Danny puts his hands on Eddie's shoulders, trying to ease her back away from the room, but Eddie continues to try and push forward towards the room. "You can't leave us! You can't leave us alone, Jamie!" she cries, tears starting to stream down her face.

Danny pulls a bit more firmly, privately wondering for a second why she said "us". After a little more effort, Eddie seems to give in and stops pulling towards the room, allowing Danny to start pulling her away from the room. However, Eddie's eyes stay locked on Jamie as she keeps crying aloud, "Don't you dare leave, Jamie! Please don't leave, Jamie!"

Danny pulls a bit more to get her towards the doors. Despite the pain in her heart, Eddie, finally turns away to follow Danny, but all but collapses into Danny's chest, breaking down in sobs. Privately surprised as he's never seen her this emotional in any situation, and feeling a sense of admiration for just how much she loves Jamie, Danny holds her close as he leads her out of the ward and back to the waiting room, trying to comfort her as she sobs into his chest.

(That evening)

As the minimal light coming through the windows of the hospital dwindles down, the Reagan family is all waiting in the waiting room, waiting for word on Jamie's condition. By now almost the entire family is there, with the exception of Frank, who cannot be located by anybody. Erin, accompanied by Anthony, was the last to arrive.

Only a minute earlier, a doctor had come out, informing them that Jamie was still alive, but in bad shape, and that a bullet was lodged in his spine. The doctor had gone so far as asking if Eddie wanted a priest to see him, which just sent Eddie into hysterics, thinking he was possibly going to die. Danny and Eddie had had a few words with the doctor, mostly strong ones demanding he fix Jamie, while Erin led Eddie to a chair

Most of the family is still standing in a loose circle in the center of the waiting room, looking around at each other and talking in hushed tones about what's going on and what's going to happen to Jamie. It's clear to them by now that even though the main concern is paralysis, there's a chance it could still go worst case, and that's what has them all worried.

In the chairs lined up against the wall, Eddie is curled up and sobbing as Erin just holds her, trying to calm her down. However, Eddie is just too worked up to calm down so easily. Erin is a little concerned with her getting so worked up, as she's usually pretty easygoing, but Erin recognizes it's probably just because of the bad situation Jamie is in.

As the other members of the family slowly gravitate towards another corner, Erin leans in and says in a soft voice to Eddie, "Eddie, you want to talk to me? If you talk about what you're feeling, maybe it'll help you calm down."

Eddie manages to look up at Erin through her tears. "I can't lose him, Erin. Not now," Eddie says through her tears, her voice choking up a lot.

Erin gently pats Eddie's back. "Eddie, it's going to be okay. They are going to do everything they can to help Jamie. Even the doctor said the worst that could happen might be paralysis," she says.

"I know, but there's always a chance. I can't lose him now, Erin," Eddie cries.

Erin looks down at Eddie, wondering what's gotten into Eddie, as even in her bad times, she's not usually this emotional. Then, looking down at Eddie, a few things click in her head. Eddie getting so emotional, some of the way she's been talking, and just something Erin sees in Eddie.

Taking a deep breath before potentially opening a huge can of worms, Erin leans in and whispers close to Eddie's ear, "Eddie…are you pregnant?"

Eddie quickly tenses up, her sobbing momentarily reduced to sniffles. She looks up at Erin with a look on her face before breaking down even more. The look combined with the renewed sobbing is all the answer that Erin needs.

Erin holds Eddie closer. "Oh, Eddie. I'm sorry. Does Jamie know?" she asks quietly. Eddie just shakes her head, continuing to cry.

Erin rubs her back, thinking carefully about what to say. After a few moments, she says, "Eddie, you have to believe that Jamie's going to be okay. He's strong, and you have to have faith in him."

Eddie continues to cry, but calms down just a little bit. Erin breathes for a moment before she says, "Eddie. Jamie is going to be fine, and you two are going to become amazing parents of the cutest little baby." Eddie lets out a little laugh, still crying, but much softer now, slowly calming down, Erin's words inspiring a little bit of hope.

(Hours later)

It's been a few hours since Jamie first went into surgery. The whole family is still assembled in the waiting room, waiting for any word from the doctors on Jamie's condition.

Eddie has managed to calm down thanks to Erin's efforts and words, but she's still standing right next to Erin, with Erin having her arm around Eddie's shoulder.

As Danny is muttering something about word on the man who shot Jamie, the doors onto the ward open, and the surgeon comes walking out. Immediately, the entire family turns to face him.

"How is he?" Eddie asks desperately.

"I was able to remove the bullet, and he's out of surgery and stable. And I think we were able to avoid any paralysis," the surgeon says.

Everyone breathes a massive sigh of relief. Danny asks, "What about spinal damage?"

"We won't know exactly what damage may have been done to his spine for a while yet. But, we believe that it will be minimal," the surgeon says.

"Can I…can I see him?" Eddie begs the surgeon.

"We're moving him to ICU. Once he's settled, I'll bring you to him," the surgeon reassures Eddie before he walks back into the ward.

Danny and Joe quickly leave the hospital, ready to get started hunting for the gunman who shot Jamie, and Anthony leaves after volunteering to go to OnePP to deliver the news in person and try to find Frank. Eddie remain with Erin and Henry, waiting anxiously for the surgeon to return.

It's only about 5 to 7 minutes before the surgeon returns and motions for Eddie to follow him. Eddie almost sprints after him, desperate to see Jamie.

After only a minute, they finally reach Jamie's room. Eddie runs into the room, stooping down beside Jamie's bed and clutching his hand. Jamie's eyes are still closed, but Eddie feels like she feels his hand twitch as she clasps it in hers.

"He should be waking up any time now. Let us know if you need anything," the surgeon says before leaving the room.

Eddie looks into Jamie's face. The relief is so overwhelming that she begins to cry again, holding his hand tightly in both of hers and resting her head against. For what is only a minute or two, but feels to Eddie like hours, she sits there, just crying with relief.

Then, she hears that voice she loves to hear so much, weak but there, "You know, I'd much rather wake up to you smiling." Eddie lifts her head and looks up to see Jamie looking at her lovingly.

"Jamie!" she cries out, her voice full of emotion. She lunges up, grabbing his face and kissing him. He smiles slightly against her lips as he kisses her back. It takes a while for Eddie to pull away, almost fearful that the moment she will something will happen.

As she finally pulls away, she looks at Jamie in the eyes and says, "I was so scared, Jamie. I was so scared I was going to lose you."

"I don't plan on leaving anytime soon," Jamie says.

"Good. Because you can't leave me now," Eddie says, determined that now is the time to tell him.

Jamie looks at her in confusion. "What do you mean I can't now?" he asks, his voice still quiet.

Eddie looks at her husband, feeling like every emotion is going to burst out of her body. Then, amidst her tears and with a big smile on her face, Eddie says, "Jamie, I'm pregnant."

Jamie sits there for a moment, his eyes slowly growing wider as his brain processes what he just heard. Then, still hardly believing it, he says, "You're pregnant?"

"Yeah, Jamie," Eddie says, tears running down her face, raising a hand to his face, "We're going to have a baby, and you can't leave me now. I can't do this alone, Jamie."

Jamie grips her hand tightly. "Eddie, I promise, I'm not going anywhere," he says firmly. The couple smile at each other and share another kiss, their joy over the revelation that they are going to be parents filling both of them.

And, I'll end the chapter there.

So, this story will be about Jamie and Eddie starting a family while still trying to be cops (how I think Season 13 should've started with how much they've teased it so far and the golden opportunity they had with Jamie getting shot to reveal it).

Next chapter will be up sometime in a week or two, hopefully. Until then, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
