Author's Note: Hiiii, everyone! It's been a while since I've really been active here!

I saw on Minecraft Live 2022 that there's gonna be some new default skins coming, and it got me into wanting to write and draw about the default skins, as well as Herobrine and my Alexbrine, who I call Villainsbane! (Shoutout to boilt_rice on Twitter and sansurichin on Tumblr for Villainsbane's name!)

I wanted to just do some little stories about them!

I hope you enjoy these stories!

The morning sun graced the Overworld as light came forth from it. Clouds began to drift lazily overhead and the singeing sounds of the undead burning filled the air. Passive mobs began to spawn all over the grasses of a large forest biome. Past the oaks and birches of the forest, a house sat in the grass, the light of the glowstone and lanterns around it fading as the daylight returned. A few horses walked around in the stable nearby to the house, and a small breeze blew against the banners on the outside walls.

The inside of this house was cozy, decorated with items frames, paintings, and small flowers in pots. Everything was still and quiet for a few more moments, before movement came from the bedroom.

Steve's violet eyes opened slowly, and he blinked a few times as the sunrise's light streamed through the window above the three beds in the highest room. The miner slowly turned his head to the side, seeing a redheaded person lying next to him, their face to him as they laid on their side. Steve smiled gently. He was usually the first person awake in their household, but he still loved seeing the peaceful expression on Alex' face in the morning.

Steve slowly moved to hang his legs over the side of the mattress, and he sat up and stretched his arms above his head. He leaned down to slip his boots onto his feet and stood up once they were. The miner plucked a small object off of the bookshelf next to his side of the bed, slipping it onto his finger.

Footsteps sounded through the air as Steve moved down the spruce stairs into the living room of the house. He looked around for a second, his eyes moving to the windows to see a few zombies and skeletons burning in the light of the sun. He chuckled, before moving into the kitchen.

The smoker was soon filled with warmth, as was the kitchen after a few moments. While some food cooked in the smoker, Steve moved to a nearby crafting table and worked on some other foods for breakfast. Bread wasn't too hard to make, and it was always a nice thing to have in the mornings.

The soft sounds of steps coming down the stairs nearby had the miner turning his head, violet eyes finding a redheaded form making her way down to the first floor. He smiled when she turned in his direction. "Good morning, Alex."

Alex's green eyes blinked softly, before chuckling quietly. "Morning, Steve. Making breakfast?"

"Sure am." He turned back to the crafting table.

Alex watched him for a moment, before smiling and moving over to the dining table. She pulled out a seat and looked at the one next to her. It was empty, but she knew the person it belonged to would be here soon.

"Alex, is Hero awake yet?"

Alex looked to Steve and that was when she remembered something. "Um, Steve? Hero wasn't in the bed."

Steve's eyes widened a little bit and he turned to look at the archer. "What do you mean he wasn't in the bed?"

"I woke up and turned over to look at his side, and he wasn't there. I thought he was down here with you already. Have you seen him today?"

Steve shook his head as he finished making his bread and pulling some pork chops from the smoker. "No, I thought he was still asleep with you."

The miner and the archer's thoughts turned to panic and they both stood alert. Herobrine never left without telling them, and the fact that neither of them knew where he went made them panic. Alex looked to Steve and asked, "Where was the last place you saw him?"

"I saw him in the mines last night. He was wandering around the mine shafts and… he didn't look well. But I didn't want to bother him. He said he'd be home last night."

"You don't think he went back down there and stayed there, do you?"

When Alex spoke those words, Steve practically bolted for the door, and the archer followed not a moment after. The two burst out the door–

Only for Steve to run into another form only a few blocks away, causing him to fall backwards onto the grass. He grunted as his head hit the ground, and he heard Alex ask, "Steve! Are you okay?!"

The miner shook his head and slowly sat up. "I… I think I'm fine, Alex. But–"

"Apologies, Steve! I didn't think you would be rushing out the door the moment I got here."

Steve looked up to see a copy of Alex with blank, pupiless eyes in front of him, and she had visible concern on her face. Steve quickly stood, a hand on the back of his head. "Sorry, Villainsbane, I didn't see you there."

The Demi-Goddess clasped her hands together. "Apology accepted, Steve. But I must ask: why are you both coming out the door in such a hurry?"

Alex looked to her copy. "Herobrine wasn't in bed this morning, and neither of us have seen him since last night. You wouldn't happen to have seen him, have you, VB?"

Villainsbane shook her head. "No, I haven't. Why, was he not home this morning?"

"No, he wasn't," Steve said. "We were going to go look for him in the mines. That was the last place I saw him."

"Herobrine," Steve called out, pickaxe in hand as he moved up a couple of stone blocks. Alex and Villainsbane followed close behind, Alex with her bow and Villainsbane with her diamond hoe. The trio had made their way into the mines nearby to their small village, with Steve leading the way. So far there had been no sign of Herobrine, but they weren't very far from the surface anyways.

Steve looked up as they entered a large cave, hearing the sounds of water dripping and bats squeaking around them. His violet eyes moved to each tunnel he could see, but the recognizable glow from the Demi-God's eyes wasn't anywhere in sight. Steve huffed, then pursed his lips. "Damn it, where could he be?"

Alex moved to stand next to the miner. "I'm not sure, Steve. I think we should–"

"EEERRRRAAAAAHHH!"

Steve, Alex, and Villainsbane jumped at the sound of a wail of frustration, perhaps even pain? The three looked around in a panic, before Villainsbane looked down one of the tunnels and furrowed her brows. "This way!" She took off in a sprint with the humans following her.

The trio made their way down a narrow tunnel that led to the top of a large waterfall. The three jumped down into the water on the bottom and stood once they were all on solid ground. Steve looked around and spotted movement from a nearby crevice, leading the way out of the water. Once he was around the corner of stone, his eyes widened a bit.

There stood a large hole in the stone with many cracks surrounding it. It appeared as if a creeper had exploded, but that thought left the trio's minds when they saw Herobrine standing in the middle of the crater, back turned to them, fists clenched and shaking. His head was slightly bowed and a droplet fell from his face and onto the ground below him.

The three stood there in silence for only a moment, before Steve spoke up. "Herobrine?"

Herobrine tensed at his name being called, before his posture loosened up, and he picked up his head. He didn't turn to look at them, but he still spoke to his lovers and his friend. "...How did you find me?"

Villainsbane responded with, "Steve and Alex said you had been here in the mines last time they saw you, and you weren't home when I arrived at your house this morning. We came here and I heard you cry out. I led Steve and Alex to you."

Alex frowned with concern. "Herobrine, what's wrong? Steve said he could tell you weren't feeling well last night. And we got worried when you weren't home." She took a gentle step forward, before asking, "Brine, do you need to talk about something?"

There was another few seconds of silence, before a hitched breath escaped Herobrine's lips and he finally turned to face the others. Tears were streaking down his face and he had his features shaped into those of despair. He let out another ragged breath.

Steve, Alex, and Villainsbane immediately rushed to his sides, embracing him. The being stiffened for only a moment, before he found himself letting out a loud sob and returning the hug to his lovers and his friend. The being broke down in their arms, his muscles becoming slime in the hot sun as he seemed to collapse.

The four stayed in that spot and Herobrine's cries echoed out in the cave, and no one made a move to stop him from letting out his emotions. He had his eyes sealed shut, but tears still fell from them.

It took several minutes, but the Demi-God was able to slow his sobs into soft sniffles and slow breaths. His grip grew weak and his arms slowly slipped from around his friends. The four moved to sit down on the floor of the cave, and Steve was the first one to speak to his tired spouse. "How do you feel?"

Herobrine blinked very slowly and the glow in his eyes dimmed to a very faint light. He responded, "I'm tired. I think I just got too into my own head last night and thought too much about being alone. I should have come home and talked to you last night, but… I didn't want to worry you."

Alex nodded. "I think you worried us more by going missing though."

Herobrine nodded. "I know that now. I apologize, I really didn't mean to worry you all. I thought I'd be okay alone. But… I really should have come home when I realized I wasn't feeling well."

Villainsbane nodded in reply. "But now you know better for the next time you get upset."

The Demi-God blinked, then nodded. "I do… I think I'd like to go home now."

Steve nodded. "I started breakfast for us. Let's go home and eat, Brine. I'm sure you're hungry by now."

The Demi-God smiled and stood, walking between his lovers and his friend, his frown turning into a gentle smile as they made their way home.
