Chapter 3: Prom Night
Timmy sat on the middle bleachers in one of the darker areas of the auditoriums. What started to be a normal day turned into a boring one.
The seventeen-year-old didn't even want to attend prom. But from the insistence of his friends, they made him come.
Sporting a maroon undershirt with a maroon pocket square as well as a black tie, waistcoat, and suit jacket. Black slacks and black leather shoes completed his attire. His hair was combed back decently,
But instead of looking like a proper gentleman, he adjusted his clothing to be a comfortable one. His tie was readjusted and a bit lose, his suit jacket was completely opened and was placed right next to him. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up to his elbows and right now, his attention is focused on his phone.
That's what he's been doing most of the night. Sure, he got a drink and ate a few snacks but they were decent at best. His friends are occupied with their dates and Timmy hadn't exactly brought one with him, seeing as he didn't want to attend before being dragged on the day of prom.
They already announced the prom King and Queen, which was Chad and Veronica and had the dance. He could already leave, but he promised them he should at least enjoy the night. Checking the time on his phone it was 11:04 PM. He yawned and stretched on his seat, thinking that he should leave the auditorium when midnight struck.
"Tired already?" He froze and slowly turned his head to see Trixie Tang slightly smirking at him.
Wearing a lavender off-shoulder dress with white four-inch heels and matching jewelry on her necklace and earrings. Her hair was placed in a half updo which was curled. Her makeup leaned towards a more natural look.
His brain went blank for a minute before it started working again. "What are you doing here, Tang?" He questioned her tentatively.
She raised her arms in surrender. "Woah, easy there tiger. I just wanna relax."
"But why this area? There are some good seats to relax and avoid people, you know."
"Is it believable that I wanted to talk to you as well?"
"You're kidding right?" He looked at her like she was trying to humor him, but he found none on her face. "Wait, you're serious? Why the hell would you want to talk to me?"
"It's just… I want to apologize."
"... What?"
She sighed, annoyed. "Look, can I sit next to you first?" She gestured to the space right next to him. He removed his jacket and placed it on his lap as she sat down. "I know I don't have the right to apologize, but I just want to say I'm really sorry for all the terrible things I've done to you."
"Back in fifth grade, I did a lot of things to hurt you, specifically physically harming you in some way with my bodyguard." She saw him grimace. "It was wrong of me to do that. I mean, you're a human being! Not an object to be tossed around. The old me only dared about popularity and status. I didn't even care if the people around me got hurt because of me. I was such a bitch back then."
"You really were."
"Thanks for rubbing it in."
"You're welcome. Is that all or…?"
"Oh, right. Even if you don't forgive me, I'll accept the outcome. I just wanna say my piece before doubts can consume my mind and I run away from cowardice or second thoughts."
Timmy Looked around her eyes to see if there was any lie to it, but all he saw was pure sincerest and truth. At first, he didn't want to accept her apology even though he moved on from the abuse years ago. But after hearing everything, he decided to forgive her.
"Thanks for the apology. Also… I forgive you."
She looked at him, shocked. "You're… forgiving me? Why?"
"At first I didn't want to but hearing your apology, you didn't find any excuses for what you've done. Other people would have done that, but you didn't. You admitted to all the things you've done even though you're scared out of your wits from the person you wanted to apologize to. You wanted to do what was right and you did. That's great courage right there. Besides, I've seen how you've changed over the years, especially your attitude toward others. I could say the same for others, but they haven't changed a bit."
Trixie's eyes had glossed when he spoke. She suddenly hugged him tightly which caught him off guard, but he returned the gesture. She backed away and tried to control her tears but a few escaped.
Seeing this, Timmy removed his pocket square from his jacket's breast pocket and wiped off the tears.
She froze as she felt a soft object touching her face. When Trixie looked at him she saw him focusing on her face. She blushed as he stared intensely at her.
An idea came to mind as he finished wiping her tears away. "Want to get out of here?"
"What? To where?" She questioned, surprised.
"It's a surprise."
"But I can't leave my date. It's rude to一"
"I don't think your date would mind leaving you." He pointed past her and she turned around to see Tad making out with one of the cheerleaders.
She didn't feel hurt as she saw him, but she was pissed that he was gone for almost thirty minutes, making an excuse to go to the restroom. Her jaw ticked.
"Can you excuse me for a sec?" Timmy gave a nod and he watched her stand up, walking towards the kissing couple. She tapped his shoulder and he turned, receiving a fist to the face, knocking him to his feet and bringing the woman in his arms stumbling as well.
The cheerleader screamed and quickly stood up and turned to look at the person who would dare hurt her and her hubby, but when she saw it was Trixie Tang herself who hit him she backed away in fear as she saw the anger burning in her eyes.
Tad got up and cradled his injured jaw. She grabbed his shoulder and kneed him in the groin. He kneeled down and he shrieked in pain.
Walking back towards the bleachers Trixie saw Timmy covering his mouth with his fist. She smirked as he found the situation funny as well as hearing Tad's girly shriek.
"Let's get out of here." She held out her hand for him to take to which he gladly did.
The two walked off with him leading her to the roof. "Why are we heading towards the roof?"
"You'll see."
Both then realized that they were still holding hands and blushed from it. Although both didn't let go of the other and that made everything tingly inside.
Opening the doors, Trixie looked in wonder and amazement as plants surrounded them. "Why didn't I notice this before?"
"The garden club rarely lets anyone in here."
"And how did you make an exception?"
"I know a friend who can vouch for me. Also, I was a member of the garden club and they gave me access to it."
"Lucky you have a secret place to hang in. It's peaceful."
"Yeah." He watched her as she roamed around the roof, admiring the flowers and plants. He sat on the bench and watched the moon shining above them, enjoying the peaceful night.
Trixie soon followed. The two relaxed under the moon's light and a breeze passed by them. Trixie shivered and tried to hide it but Timmy noticed. He grabbed his jacket and offered it to her.
"Here."
"I'm not cold, Turner."
"Explain the shivering then." He smirked as she glared at him. Looking at the jacket in his hands she sighed. "Fine. I'll wear it."
She could smell his scent in his jacket as well as the cologne he uses. It was bigger than her and she was fine with it, burrowing herself deeper into the coat's warmth.
They faintly heard the DJ down below announcing the final dance.
"Alright, people this is the final dance of the night. Gentlemen, ladies let's slow this one down and make it a little more intimate here."
Trixie sighed and looked down. Timmy asked. "What's wrong?"
"Hm? Oh, it's nothing."
"If it's nothing then it wouldn't have made such a big impact on you."
"But if you hear the reason then you're going to think it's stupid or a waste of time."
"I'm not the kind of guy to think that. Now come on, what's gotten you sad?"
"Well… I wanted to at least have a dance, but every time I asked Tad he'd say no or it's not cool to dance. He's literally an idiot to think that."
"Then why did you come with him?"
"It wasn't my choice per se. My mom arranged it and I didn't even find out until yesterday. I was planning to not attend prom, but fate had other plans for me."
"... No offense Trixie but your mom is literally a control freak." She snorted and agreed. "You know I was planning to ditch prom, but my friends dragged me into it. I'm kinda thankful to them for it."
"How so?"
"Well, I wouldn't have this conversation with you right now." Both blushed as he admitted it to her.
He stood up and offered her his hand. "And I can't offer you a fairytale dance as you want, but I'll try to live up to it. And don't worry about me stepping on your toes, I had a lot of practice. It is if you want to…?"
She looked at his outstretched hand. What the hell? She grabbed his hand and he positioned them into a slow waltz.
The music faded away as they only focused on each other. The waltz turned into a slow dance and their faces inched closer, their lips almost touching.
Both waited for the other to make the move before Trixie took matters into her own hands and kissed him. He froze from her action, but he closed his eyes and slowly kissed her back with equal fervor.
Timmy broke the kiss after a long moment as he needed air in his lungs. When he opened them he was greeted with the sight of Trixie staring at him longingly with half-lidded eyes. "I've always wanted to do that."
"Oh, really?"
"Mmmm hmmm. How about you? How long have you been waiting to do that?"
He pressed his forehead to hers and had his lips barely touching her own. He chuckled as she saw his eyes shining in mischief and happiness. "Oh, I've been wanting to do that for years. And I think I should do it again in case this isn't a dream."
"Well, don't stop on my account." Both kissed under the moonlight. Their hearts now beating as one and Cupid floated above them, shedding a tear at the sight.
Timmy was glad his friends forced him to attend, otherwise, he would've missed the chance to find love in his old crush.
