Peter's pov
Peter's favourite holiday had always been Christmas but this year it would be a bitter sweet moment. On one hand this would be his first one with the avengers and his new parents, Pepper and Tony Stark. At the same time the first without May.
Even though May would always burn most of the food and the low budget equaled only a few gifts he couldn't help but feel a tinge of saddness. The guilt was also still remaining, would it be wrong if he enjoyed himself instead of mopping around all day?
He mentally scolded himself May would want him to be happy no matter the circumstances.
Fridays voice broke him out of this particular train of thought as she said, "Boss would like me to tell you breakfast is ready."
Peter groaned half heartily, this meant he had to leave the comfort of the bed and this would result in the one event he dreaded coming closer to the present, the Christmas party. He was extremely nervous even though only the avengers where attending and he meet them all.
Peter slowly climbed out of bed there where still somethings he had to enjoy before then, gifts and to scold his dad for going overboard. No matter what his dad said he didn't need almost twelve gifts, all of them coasting more than nessary.
Peter stumbled down the hallway his nose guiding him to the smell of bacon and eggs. His before worries stored away.
Moments later he was presented with a mounth watering sight and his two smiling parents.
Peter hoped onto the barstool a plate filled with eggs, bacon and hash brown in front of him. With a big smile he took a big bite savouring the taste a little before swallowing. This was definitely going on the best Christmas breakfast list.
Just as he scooped up another mouth full his mom asked in her normal cheerful tone, " Goodmorning baby, did you sleep well?"
Before he could answer his dad chipped in," Yeah goodmorning kiddo eat up we have a lot of presents to open."
Peter stared at the tree behind him for a few seconds before addressing both his parents, "Goodmorning and I slept really well by the way. Secondly dad you should really stop going overboard with the presents."
Peter watched out of the corner of his eye as his dad abandoned the frying pan, favouring the idea of messing with Peter's curls.
Peter didn't mind in the slightest as his dad's fingers brushed through the already messy and uncombed hair, he even continued to scarf down his eggs.
His dad whispered in a playfully voice, "Slow down bud and don't you dare take away the enjoyment I get from buying you gifts."
After opening gifts and finishing breakfast Peter found himself in his room again the only difference he was getting ready for the party. All the avengers where going to be there and as a added bonus Loki and Thor where coming as well so everything was going to be great.
Peter swallowd back his nerves and continued to ignore the slight buzz in his head. His spidey sense had been going off since his dad and the others stared to decorat the avenger floor and on top of that there was now immense danger so ignoring the warning was the best plan.
A knock on the door was enough to distract him for now as he answered, " Come in"
The door was pushed open only to reveal his mom and dad holding hands and having grins tugging at the corners of there mouths. His dad declared there arrival by holding out his other hand and saying, " Young Stark care to join us at the tiny celebration downstairs?"
Peter eagerly nodded as he grabbed his dad's hand, sure not to apply to much force. The moment there hands touched he was pulled to his dad's side and a arm was loosely thrown over his shoulder.
The three made there way to the party, Peter complimenting his mom's floor length green dress and the tux his dad insists he was forced into.
The moment the elevator doors where opened Peter was hit with a new intensed of trobbing. He let his eyes wander over the room and stopped dead when he saw the threat, peppermint.
His eyes commercial widened as he took in the sheer amount of it, candy canes hanging from the tree, bowls filled with the stuff and some of the baked goods seemingly contained it.
His dad must have felt him tense because a few seconds later a soothing voice whispered into his ear, " Quit a party we have here and next year you should definitely help with decorating."
Peter only nodded in response, with his spider DNA and the fact that peppermint is supposed to repel spiders he was caught in one big trap.
Like always favouring other people's happiness other his health he made a quick decision, just deal with it on your own and don't eat a thing.
Afterc making this brief decision he was brought back to the present and could see Steve and Natasa making there way over, Steve holding two glasses of wine.
He handed one to each of his parents before saying, " Sorry kid, no wine for minors but there is some apple juice with peppermint sticks at the far table. Especially there for younglings."
Peter smiled and answered politely even though he knew he would only be drinking water tonight, " Thanks Steve I get myself some later on."
With that conversation ticked of the party continued and Peter found himself separated from his parents. On top of that being near peppermint for so long wasn't doing him any good.
A pounding headache was already making itself comfortable in Peter's head as he made his way to the special brought in dinning table.
While everyone chated and spooned food onto there plates from the multiple dishes on the table Peter was sure he smelled peppermint but that was just silly no one puts mint in food, right?
Peter was very wrong and that fact was proven by a certain minty piece of steak.
Excusing himself from the party with the all favourite excuse of going to the bathroom Peter particular bolted the moment he was out of view.
Tony's pov
An half hour later Tony was chuckling at something Clint said when he rather abruptly asked, " Pete what do you think of the food you have been very quiet?"
When no one answered Tony scanned the table for any sign of the kid before asking, " Has anyone seen Peter?"
Thor's booming voice echoed through the room as he said, " Man of spiders went to the bathroom almost 30 minutes ago. I do hope he his well other ways I will send pop tarts."
Tony and Pepper shared a brief look before both of them ran out of the room the worry clear on there faces. As they ran Tony asked, " Friday where is Peter?"
"Peter is currently in your room and has been since he stopped throwing up twenty minutes ago. "
Tony picked up speed and was soon pushing open the bedroom door. He was meet with an unexpected site. His and Pepper's clothes where thrown all over the place and a empty perfume bottle lay on the floor. The most worrying part he couldn't see Peter.
As he called out Peter's name he heard a gasp next to him, Pepper had finally made it to his side and caught sight of the room.
A voice close to the ceiling replied, " Up here dad."
For a few seconds Tony just stared at the spider kid hanging upside down on the ceiling, wearing Pepper's sweet pants and Tony's MIT hoodie.
Before anything could be said Peter jumped down and began rumbling, " Sorry for the mess I couldn't get comfortable without your smells and I didn't want to be a burden so I thought clothes where the second best. "
Tony signed and pinched the brigh of his nose, this kid.
In the end both Pepper and Tony changed into pajamas before snuggling underneath the blankets, a complaining Peter between them.
Before Peter could fall asleep Tony asked, " Kid what was wrong in the first place and why didn't you tell us you where sick?"
Peter mumbled out, " Peppermint keeps spiders away but I didn't want to tell you because you put so much effort into everything.
"Oh"
Was the single reply Tony could think of before Pepper said, "Well Peter we wouldn't have minded to change everything especially if it was for our little spider baby."
With a smile Peter replied, " M'not little."
With that said the boy snuggled closer to Tony untill he could beary his head into the man's chest.
After they events of the first Christmas spend as a family peppermint never came near the tower again.
