It had been a sweet time in the Evolveglades, in more ways than one. Lately, all kinds of spooky decorations had been put up around town. Mewtwo thought nothing of it at first, he just thought the townsfolk just had unusual tastes. When he was wandering around Sun Stone Square, there was even a contest for the biggest Pumpkaboo. Scratching his head, he looked around and saw the Mon 4 talking.

"Hey, have you guys seen The Texcadrill Chainsaw Massacre?" asked Machoke.

"Aren't you a bit young to be watching that?" Minun commented.

"Yeah, but it was on TV a couple nights ago," Machoke answered. "I only saw some of it before my mom shut it off, but man, it was intense!"

"What's it about, again?" asked Plusle.

Magikarp side-eyed her. "Trust me, you don't want to know."

Mewtwo approached them. "What's with all the macabre stuff around town recently?"

"Halloween's coming," replied Machoke. "I'm gonna be Supermankey."

Mewtwo cocked his head. "But isn't there already a Supermankey?"

"Um, we just dress up," Minun explained. "It's kind of a tradition."

"And we get lots of candy," said Plusle dreamily.

Mewtwo perked up. Just the thought of it almost made him drool. "Candy?! Why didn't anyone ever tell me about this before?!"

"You mean you've never gone trick-or-treating before?!" exclaimed Plusle.

"Well, no, but now I wish I had," Mewtwo said, looking a bit wistful.

"Say no more!" Plusle grabbed his hand. "We're gonna get you set up for the big night!"

They all went to a clothing store, where there was a big costume sale. Several Pokémon saw Mewtwo coming in and quickly hid behind some shelves. Mewtwo looked rather somber. After about twenty minutes of searching, they came across a Crobatman suit.

"This looks good, I think," Mewtwo commented.

"Ooh, perfect!" Machoke said. "The more superheroes, the merrier."

They approached the checkout aisle.

"Hi, we'd like to buy these," Mewtwo said to Delphox the cashier, who was Braixen's mother.

Delphox looked up from filing her claws. "That'll be thirty dol-" When she saw Mewtwo, she shrieked and hid under the desk. Mewtwo's face fell. "Take it for free if you want, just don't hurt me!" screamed Delphox.

With a sigh, Mewtwo slapped thirty bucks onto the desk and left with the others.

"Sorry about her reaction," Magikarp told Mewtwo.

"No, it's understandable," Mewtwo answered. He did not really blame her for panicking like that, considering his previous crimes. If anything, he felt even guiltier about his attempted destruction of the planet in the past.

"Well, see y'all tomorrow," Machoke said.

"Let's see each other Sun Stone Square by 6:00 PM," suggested Minun.

"Sounds like a plan," answered Magikarp.

They scattered and went back to their houses. Mewtwo went home to his shack, which was right next to the house that Mew was living in. She had decided to live near him so that they could be close together. Mewtwo sit on his bed and thought about what happened. He knew that he wouldn't be able to gain everyone's trust right away, he'd have to earn it. He did take comfort in the friends and sister who stayed by his side, though.
