Ephram and Laynie walked up a long hill to the miniature stone monument. Ephram laid down a single white rose on top of the marble and spoke a few words that Laynie couldn't comprehend.
He reached out and held her hand, squeezing it lightly. They both knelt down on the damp grass. She could see tears start to flow down his face, but resisted the urge to wipe them away.
"I'm sorry you two have never actually met. Mom, I'd like you to meet wife, Laynie Hart. And this." Ephram patted Laynie's obviously pregnant stomach.
"Is our first child; Julia."
