Veil, my Veil
My little ferret child.
I tried to raise you well.
But somehow you went wild.
My poor Veil.
You couldn't help what you were.
But I know that is why they hated you.
It was as plain as the mask on your fur.
You still grew up evil.
We taught you to be kind, we really tried.
But maybe if they loved you
You never would have died.
I blame Friar Bunfold
He loathed you, the mean old fart.
He's the reason I sit watching you fade
and holding you close to my heart.
Maybe it was fated.
Like the wind or the grape on the vine.
Because even though I held on
your paw slipped away from mine.
I shouldn't have followed you
Then I wouldn't have met the horde.
But I didn't want my baby
to die as a ferret warlord.
Sleep, my little one.
I'll hold you to my chest.
You've proved the abbey wrong.
You've earned eternal rest.
I'll lie when I get back home.
"He was bad," I'll wail.
But in my heart there's a memory.
And I'll still love you, my baby...
My Veil.
My little ferret child.
I tried to raise you well.
