"Should Hercules fight, you will fail." The three Fates cackled as
they and their shared eye vanished in a puff of smoke.
"WHAT!" Hades' temper consumed the minute, his hair and shoulders burned white hot. He quickly got a grip on himself.
"Fine, fine, I'm fine, I'm cool, I'm fine." He could handle this. But how should he deal with this problem?
At first, his mind leapt straight to killing the little sunspot. Quick, simple. A little Grecian formula, a night in the cold or a wild animal and hey, a permanent residence in the River Styx.
Hades' fingers moved to his chin. "Hmm." Was that the only solution? Turning a god mortal was a serious business. And there was only so much of that formula. There were other options besides death. Kidnapping, preoccupation, because of course, the child would be loyal to Zeus.
And that was when it hit him. What if, he could make the brat loyal to him, Hades, instead of his father? A shudder ran through him. Did he really want to waste the next eighteen years playing 'Uncle Hades'? He hadn't done that for any of Zeus' spawn, not even Ares or Athena.
Hades began to pace the room, considering his options.
The kid had been strong, exceptionally strong, even for a god. That would probably be his main talent. It could be useful if the Titans got unruly after the takeover. He didn't have Zeus' knack with lightning, and fire, one of his talents, didn't affect them. It might be useful to have an ally that had a chance of reining the elemental powers of the Titans.
He'd ponder this for a while. But for now, he figured he might want to visit Olympus a little more often.
