She woke up with her lips lined with dirt. Groaning, she tried flipping onto her back, or even her side, but her body wouldn't let her. She lay prone, talking to herself in head, having nothing better to do than an internal monologue...
*Grrr... where am I? I hardly remember a thi- wait, that smell. I /know/ that smell! It's... it's... chocobos! Yes, ha! But... there's danger, panic, the chocobos...*
"Cred! Dra CHOCOBOS!" Renai bolted upright, ignoring the excrutiating pain that shot through her entire body. The ground was shaking beneath her and someone ran past the door, screaming:
"YEVON yddylgehk! Nih! Nih!"
Renai got a quick glance at her situation: she was in the chocobo stables in Home, where she worked to earn a little extra gil for her 'expeditions'. All the stalls were empty, however, and large front door was damaged as to hang askew from its hinges. The ground shaking were explosions. She had to get out of there, and quick. So, grabbing an Al-Bhed First Aid Kit and a long coil of rope, Renai rushed out the door.
*Screw the chocobos,* she thought, *I gotta haul some outta here.*

Her eyes darted watching people frantically dash about. She grabbed one, a young man, about 15, by the collar and shook him.
"Fryd ec kuehk uh? Fryd ec rybbahehk du HOME? Frana ec CID?" The wild-eyed boy shook his head, indicating he knew as much as she did. She reluctantly let him go and stood in the midst of the panic and destruction like the Sphinx in a sandstorm.
After a few moments, another memory popped into her head. "Uv luinca! Dra AIRSHIP!" Renai pushed past panicked floods of fleeing Al-Bhed, making her way to the hangar. She ended up being ushered hurriedly into the holds of the ship with a few other Al-Bhed, those that she recognized at Lady Summoner Dona and Summoner Isaaru and what she supposed were their respective guardians, and a group of others whom she didn't get a good look at. But what mattered now was getting out of Home alive.
