"Here you go dearie, try not to get into too much trouble with it," the witch at Flourish and Blotts said, handing Hermione the book she had ordered. It was called "Apparation for Beginners". She was so excited! She was 17, which meant she could finally learn how to apparate. Oh it would be so much fun!

Hermione stepped out of the store and saw her parents waiting for her outside the door.

"You have your book? Good! Well, we best be off then sweetie," her dad, David, said.

Hermione and her parents then left Diagon Alley, through a special entrance for magical children with Muggle parents and got in the car. The whole way home, Hermione studied the book, eager to get started when she got home.

Somehow, on the long car trip home, she fell asleep, the book still open on her lap.

"Hermione? Sugar? We're home," Hermione's mum, Janice, whispered, softly shaking Hermione.

Hermione awoke slowly. "We're home? Already?" she mumbled sleepily, and then got out of the car, pushing the door closed and following her parents into the house. When she was inside she said a quick goodnight to her parents and headed up to her room, feeling wide-awake now. Good! She could continue learning how to apparate!

She had read most of the whole book in the car and it seemed easy enough to do. Why not try now? So she had just read the whole book today? She felt confident she wouldn't mess up, she was normally wonderful at any sort of magic and what could go wrong now?

She opened the page where it specified what to do when you were ready. You started with a spell. . .Dolfigurous Appared!

"D-Dolfigure Apparate," she said, closing her eyes and concentrating very hard on where she wanted to apparate too, not realizing she had the spell wrong for once in all her excitement.

She opened her eyes to see if it worked and the room began to fade around her. Yes! It was working.

She was thrown into a world of black. Okay, so it was taking a bit longer then it was supposed to. Hopefully everything was all right?

Umph! She landed on the ground. She looked around her and what she saw surprised her. This wasn't The Burrow! Instead, she was sitting in a lush green wood with nothing around her for miles.

Where was she?
