"I'm sorry I couldn't show you Zanarkand."
Your words meant more to me than
They should have,
And I could do nothing but just
Lie there, on top of the airship
With you behind me.
A stream of light appeared in front of my eyes
Shimmering with our promises, secrets, and pain
That would always be with us.
But not just in that pyrefly.
I stood up on wobbly legs,
But wouldn't allow myself to turn around
To face the person I'd wanted to be with
For my whole life.
Why does it still have to be so dark,
When things should be all right?
Spira is saved, so wouldn't that mean
Everything would turn out for the best?
"I love you," I heard myself say.
I found your arms wrapped around my shoulders.
Your scent, it was all too familiar,
Giving me memories that I tried to grasp
Because I wanted to savor it.
You eyes...
I could see them through my closed ones.
They told me you felt the same pain
As I did.
And all I wanted was for it to go away, but nothing was ever that easy anymore.
Please, I cried to myself,
Let this moment last forever.
Don't let him leave.
Let him stay with his arms around me
Because this is the only way
I can find true bliss.
But you were fading too quickly.
You walked through me,
Almost like a ghost,
And you ran off the edge of the airship,
Not wanting to look back.
As you disappeared into
Those shimmering strings of light
And dissolved entirely,
I smiled to myself.
You had given me my life.
You had vowed you would save me
From my death,
And you did.
You said this was 'your story,' Tidus?
Well, you've forgotten that it is mine too.
I will find a way to save you
Like you have done for me,
So eagerly,
So we can still write chapters
For eternity.
