This is a poem I did for my 8th Grade English class 8 years ago.   We had to write a poem based off of the Diary of Anne Frank, and this is what I churned out.

Will the War End too Late?

Going into hiding

While outside there is fighting.

All you can do is wait

Will the war end too late

You are taken in the night

You know you cannot fight

To a place where hatred has power

While you cower

Stripped of you identity

You don't own a penny

Engraved on you is a number

That's what you are now a number

Someone is taken

You know they will not awaken

The smell of death lingers in the air

Where is you family, where where

When will they take you

Because you are a Jew

All you can do is wait

Will the war end too late

To save you?
