Slight Spoilers, I think. This has not been beta'd.
As Percy listened to Fudge, his heart filled with glee. HE was going to work for the ministry! Him! Percy Weasley!
Then a thought hit him. His family didn't believe Fudge (the fools). They believed that attention seeking Harry Potter.
Rolling his eyes at the thought a 'child' would know better than the ministry, he leaned forward to better hear what the minister was saying.
There was no way Percy Weasley would ever be as foolish as his family. Even if they couldn't see the truth, he would.
He just had to worry, that the ministry would never forgive him for not realizing something was wrong with Mr. Crouch.
But he had acted normal. Went so far as to ask for his coffee. Black, no cream or sugar.

Percy smiled smugly as Umbridge talked. It seemed Ron was following in his footsteps! He had always knew Ronald wasn't like the twins. But he never realized how obvious Ron's admiration for him was.
He had better send him a letter.
And make sure Ron knew not to hang about with that dangerous Harry Potter.
It could ruin any chances Ron had of working for the ministry.

Writing furiously, Percy barely stopped himself from bouncing out of his chair.
Hogwarts was finally going to get a competent Headmaster!
And it appeared Ronald was not hanging about with rubbish like Harry Potter anymore.
Even if he refused to reply to Percy.
Rushing out to send the article to the Prophet, Percy heard the voices in the room raise, but ignored it, to busy feeling gleeful.
*
Percy curled up in his chair, feeling tearful. You-Know-Who is back!
If the ministry, the MINISTRY, can be wrong, what else can?
Oh! And his family! They would never forgive him...
But of course they would have to understand. It was a matter of his job or them.
He had made the right choice.
Hadn't he?
*
They acted oddly around him. Everyone, even his own 'parents' stopped talking when he came in the room, or they lowered their voices and gave him suspicious looks.
He had heard rumors that everyone in his family was in Dumbledore's fabled 'Order'. He had often caught his family saying something about an order of the phoenix.
Even little Ginny was in it!
But what about Percy? He was hardworking, and loyal, and brave. Everything they were, he was!
Except for the fact he left them for the ministry.
But they couldn't 'still' be acting like this because of that, could they? It was a matter of his job or them. He would have made Mr. Crouch proud.
Except Crouch's son came and killed him.
Oh. A knock on the door?
*
They wanted him to join. To join You-Know-Who.
Unlike his family, they supported him.
They understood why he had done what he did.
Although they said the Dark Lord came first and foremost.
Percy would never join though.
How DARE they assume he would give up his morals and join them?
Oh... They thought if he was willing to sell out his family, he would be willing to help them.
Sinking down into his chair, he ignored the green light coming from Malfoy's wand.
There was a hiss and footsteps.
*
Saint Mungos.
It appeared Hermione's cat jumped in from of the green light. It hit them both. Now they were both slightly brain damaged.
So the doctors said.
Percy didn't believe them.
He still had to get to work.
Mr. Crouch was waiting for his coffee. Black, no sugar or cream.
